I remember mentioning this camera on one of your live streams!! This camera is a certified brick in size but so fun to use. I love how it feels in my hands and the the screen hood is such a cool feature
Ahhh I knew a subscriber told me to check this camera out. Thanks for sharing a cool camera for me to check out I appreciate it 😊 that camera was super cool to check out super weird but I agree super fun to use
Some of the earlier Sony NEX cameras (definitely my NEX-5n, but probably others) also have a similar tilt-only screen. It makes sense that Sony borrowed it from a camera like this. I assume the camera itself was also a spiritual predecessor to the fixed-tape Ruvi.
Thanks for reviewing this! My Grandfather had one like this. It used to work great, however when I try to play the video (Hi8) tape in the camera, it is blurry and the sound no longer works. It is making a grinding noise when it is ejecting the tape too which is weird. It does it for every tape I try. They all used to work. Any idea what the issue could be? Thanks!
Well I’m not exactly sure but sounds like something in the tape deck is damaged.possibly from dropping it or it has sat so long unused things start to malfunction
@@brandoncameracollection thanks, so you don't think it needs to be cleaned? It was working just yesterday so it's bizarre. No drops either, we were careful with it
I just found this camera in my parents basement and I’m very new to analog photography (I have a film point and shoot and that’s it!) thank you for this video! Is there a way to connect the camera to a USB so that I can get what I film onto my laptop?
Yeah definitely. There are quite a few different ways to do it. But if your just starting out I recommend a device that records your footage to a SD card or a USB drive. There are also some out there that you hook up to your computer and capture the footage that way. I’ll leave some links to some that I recommend so you have an idea what I’m talking about. hey! im looking for a small camcorder with a build in light for like a colorful nightshot if you are near your subjects, i dont want this green nightshot effect most camcorders have. could you might recommend me some or a whole camcorder series? i prefer mini dv or mini dvd/ early sd card years camcorders. would be great if you can help me out!
Well you can always get a camera that you like and and just attach a filming light to the top of it. They way your not limited to certain cameras. You could look at the Sony dcr-trv17 or similar models. I’m not sure what ones have a light. But I’m pretty sure the Panasonic vdr-d230 has a light which is a dvd camcorder.

really well made and well thought out compact piece of technology. Sony was the original apple.
I agree definitely during the 90s and early 2000s
I literally have one that was given to me by MJ for Christmas after working on HiStory album...1994...just got it out of the storage
Dang now that has some value to it. That is super cool he gave it to you

Mine just gave out on me and wont power on... Do you know of any repair shops for old video cameras??
Not off the top of my head but I think it would probably cost a lot more to repair than to replace it with a working one
@@brandoncameracollection Been trying to look for one, but it's near impossible... :(
@Pearldrummer55 you can check out video one repair and see if they are able to fix your cam

I think is the pictures coming from this camera is not bad at that time.
So what you're saying is it's kind of like a point and shoot picture camera
Similar yes
Hi you know where i can find this camera ?
Best place to look would be eBay. You can also look for a SC7 and SC9 they are very similar models
I got the sony ccd sc9 in japanese and have no way of finding the menu on it. SMH
Yeah I try really hard to not buy Japanese models but I’ll unfortunately have to once I buy a vx1000
Looking for something with the same zoom style. Please help, they want like 350$ on eBay 😭
I haven’t found any that are similar you can look at the sc5, sc7, and sc9
