Ah, those young folks with their fancy stuff. Rear steer, schmear steer. We never used to have anything like that. Back in our days, we hardly had any steer at all. We crawled 51 miles to school without any steer. And we were happy and grateful.
Matt.. You should build a little bracket where you can physically PIN your rear steer in place; That would be a good fail safe for a trail repair to get you home.
The Wrecker still impressives. Remembering the day Matt came up with the idea and Lizzy was there discussing his vision of the wrecker. Wrecker just climbs out of those cracks.
I remember when I had first discovered this channel, you had went somewhere & needed Paul Cox’s dad’s wrecker. The hood got smashed by the boom, when Paul had to go almost straight up a wall. I discovered Fab Rats. And the circle of friends grew. Robby Layton, Rory Irish. The trip to recover the Gold Nugget. Merry Christmas to the gang at Matt’s Off-road Recovery. Keep making these videos.
Missed my Wednesday fix this week 😕 Time to park the spud truck and get everything else tuned up! ... Jake you ae at least 3 stripes in recovery 🙂 and a black belt in narration 🙂
The Wrecker isn't a shop on wheels like Trailmater. Not even a comparison of the two one runs on gas that's filled up and the other runs on hopes and dreams for fuel
I'ma gonna hafta watch that again cause I missed most of what was going on due to my eyes being glued to the tip of the wrecker boom and the hood of that jeep. Geeeeez I give Jake 10/10 for being so calm and in control. As for Kaulin, I give you a 10/10+5 pts for being confident enough to pull of a task like this. swinging vehicle and that terrain even got me freaking out a bit. So hats off to you from Canada, you both deserve a victory pie.
I think you're right. You can't tell from the video because of the Matt's Straps in the way, but the rear steering might not have been working that day. Or at least Kaulin thought so.
Kaulin, being a bit nervous is a good thing. It means you will be cautious and take care of the customer's vehicle. If not nervous could be overconfident and something bad might happen!
I can save you the 15 minutes of watching this video and sum it up for you.... "I don't have rear steer, I wish I had rear steer, I cant believe I don't have rear steer, hey everyone I cannot drive without rear steer, did you know I don't have rear steer, I really wish I had rear steer, this job would be so much better with rear steer!"
Did anyone count how many times Colin said I wish I had the rear steer working Matt. Also, thank you for the belt classification of every individual that works at Matt’s off-road recovery. I never knew a coral belt existed even after 20+ years of martial arts training, so mr. Miyagi , thank you.
Did anyone catch was was broken on the wrecker? Kaulin needs to be more clear on what exactly was wrong and clarify it more than just the 48 times he managed to say it.
Great job on the brakes Jake, everything else you do too but you did a really super good job keeping that jeep out of the wrecker. Kaulin sp? You're a natural!
Jake, the BRAKE MAN!! Your analogy of the belt levels was great...great focus on recovery!! Kaulin such a TERRIFIC PILOT and understanding of the Wrecker brings a positive and safe recovery!!
The next wrecker would like to have the boom pivot near where the winches now are. Near the cab. Boom would be horizontal and would be much less likely to hit the front / top of the vehicle being rescued. Don't misunderstand me, the wrecker is awesome! I just see the concern the team always gives for the possible impact point while towing.
When Jake was assigning each team member with a colored belt, I was thinking that Kaulin has earned his next level belt on this one. Great job B team! Lesson learned, Take it Slow & Easy 😅(and get that rear steer fixed ASAP)
Yeah the Taekwondo belt system sucks but it did somewhat fit what he was going for. And advanced level Taekwondo black belts are "Dans". 5th Dan 7th Dan. not coral but hey who knows what his frame of reference was based on.
Will we ever see a piece of Matt's Off-Road Recovery equipment go out on a job 1. fully fueled 2. equipment fully functioning and 3. safety equipment (first aid, radios, etc.) on-board ?
Checklists make it wreckless, or at least more professional as a reminder to bring the radios, spares, etc. 1:32 - is that swivel hook to hold a CB mic?
Rear Steer seems like a crutch that they've gotten too used to leaning on, but that's a long beast to be navigating through narrow spaces, and when you put a vehicle on the hook, it just gets longer.
Yeah, i guess every feature of a wrecker beyond a stick and a winch are "crutches". Be sure to point out to Ron Pratt that his rotator is a " crutch"..
I get it. Rear steering makes it luxury and easier for not only recovery but also rockcrawling. A master of trade doesn't use excuses to get a job done. They work with what they have, make adjustments where necessary, and never complain about what they dont have in the moment (maybe wishing silently to themselves) Part of learning is being out of your comfort zone. I think Jake puts it well with his comparing skill level with BJJ belt colors to recovery skills for the MORR team.
Kaulin now knows what his ancestors went through the dark ages of towing and recovery. Grandpa tow truck driver says "I'n my day we didn't have rear steering. We had to push our rear axles into place!"
Hey Matt next time you have an event using other TH-cam rs keep in mind Chet Larson of Larson Farms..He and Laura of Laura Farms are like minded....I'm not match making just thought another farmer would be cool...Love your channel keep on keeping on...
I had a similar thought the other day with the “Stratemann Automotive” crew. I love following that channel. The wizard diesel repair vids, the building and running custom off road trial rig. Seems like a good contender for an event, but also possibly a collaborator on a project!
Kaulin really is the consummate professional when it comes to recovery jobs, he never goes at things half a**ed and with Jake backing him up Matt doesn't have to sit at home wondering if it going OK. 10/10.
It might just be us but I believe Kaulin misses the rear steer when he doesn't have it! Good recovery and video.
You might be right.
But I like, how he didn't make a big deal out of it. Never mentioned it. You could hardly tell.
Real men suffer in silence.
Jake’s a great guy. I appreciate his attitude so much.
Look .. the wrecker has a Jake break .... ha , I crack myself up
That was funny! 😁
It took me a minute 😂
Official spelling police here: That's Jake Brake not Jake Break. Although I am sure Jake takes a break from being the Jake Brake from time to time.
That is good. I'm only 31 and only have critter kids but I'm well into tiring anyone around me with "dad jokes".
@@amazeddude1780I thought it was Jake from brake farm.
Got the boy spoiled with the rear steer 😂
Add up
Lol he like a junky having an episode 😂
Ah, those young folks with their fancy stuff. Rear steer, schmear steer.
We never used to have anything like that. Back in our days, we hardly had any steer at all. We crawled 51 miles to school without any steer. And we were happy and grateful.
From pitch meeting
A. No rear steer sounds kind of sketchy
B. Nah super easy barely an inconvenience
😆
Matt.. You should build a little bracket where you can physically PIN your rear steer in place; That would be a good fail safe for a trail repair to get you home.
Either that or a piece of channel that can put over top of the steer cylinders to lock em in place
No rear steer, got it 😂
No kidding. I had to stop watching.
Whined like a sissy till the end.
He missed his rear steer...we get it.
make you wonder how many were edited out.
@thisthat7238 i left a comment that was edited. It seems as if someone is butt hurt...
Rename the video. The Rear Steer Blues 😭
Or the winey blues
The click bait blues 😂😂😂
It's amazing watching a recovery without rear steer and seeing how much easier it makes the recovery. Great job Kaulin and Jake
And camera crew 👍😉
Drinking game every time Collin says rear steer.😂😂
I was gonna say the same thing, blacked out two minutes in. LOL
Awesome idea but my liver couldn't take it lol
And another for spelling his name "Collin" instead of Kaulin. Trick name.
Really dumb kid.
Great 9 am and can’t drive anywhere
Nice recovery. That is a good looking Jeep!
The Wrecker still impressives. Remembering the day Matt came up with the idea and Lizzy was there discussing his vision of the wrecker. Wrecker just climbs out of those cracks.

What’s that Kaulin, “the rear steer’s not working” we’d never have guessed. 😂😂 stay safe out there.😎🇬🇧
How do normal people steer without out it? Dumb kid. 😂
I wanna see a mix up where Rory does a rescue with the wrecker and Matt does one with Trail mater!
The Wrecker isn't a shop on wheels like Trailmater. Not even a comparison of the two one runs on gas that's filled up and the other runs on hopes and dreams for fuel
Can we nickname Kaulin “rear steer” 😅
Re-edit and put in a counter
Or Goldilocks. I’m sure there’s some ppl out there jealous of those big golden locks 😆
He deeds to learn other options for situations like this. Good job guys. 😊😊😊
Totally agree, needs to be a priority.
That might give a different impression outside the off-road community........🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'ma gonna hafta watch that again cause I missed most of what was going on due to my eyes being glued to the tip of the wrecker boom and the hood of that jeep. So, was the rear steer not working? I didn't see you use it once. The recovery would have been so much easier if you had used it. ;)
😂
Wow...
I think you're right. You can't tell from the video because of the Matt's Straps in the way, but the rear steering might not have been working that day. Or at least Kaulin thought so.
Said at the beginning someone broke the switch with their foot. So had to center steering and strap in place.
It was explained right at the beginning
The jeep that was rescued appears very nicely built. Wheel base, arms tires and wheel look great.
I'm surprised there aren't more comments on the jeep, that thing looks like a really nice rig.
Best family show on the internet. Matt's OffRoad Recovery... BTW... "B" Team ALWAYS kicks butt..... more smiles for the mile..
You go Jake! Always love hearing from you. Like to see your insight kind of behind the scenes. 👍😉😊
Kaulin, being a bit nervous is a good thing. It means you will be cautious and take care of the customer's vehicle. If not nervous could be overconfident and something bad might happen!
Very technical recovery, a lot of factors to manage, nice job Kaulin and team
Hey Colin did you miss the rear steer on the wrecker on that recovery. Just curious😂😅
This episode should have been called “Kaulin moans repeatedly about lack of rear steer”
Should have put a rear steer counter up and see how many times he said it. 😂
I liked Jake’s power rankings. That was pretty on point!
I think Jake undersold himself, and went one rank too high for Rhett and Caitlin
The Jeep they rescued looked like a sweet unit. Almost unrecognizable as a jeep apart from the headlights and grill, given the other mods.
I thought it was the "bees knees" myself. Something to do with all the proportions. Beautiful rig. I be jealous.
You should have used the rear steer. 😂
Man i feel ya I've had to go without rear steer my whole life !!
Word of the day 'Rear-steer'!
Hearing the words "rear steer" a nauseating amount of times was not on my Bingo card when I woke up this morning, and yet here we are.😅
Came to comment on Kaylin’s rear steer concerns. That’s been covered 😂
The top of that cab needs some TLC. Looking forward to that video.
Some Robby Layton time 😂🤣😂
One of the first things I noticed. Yeah time for the Layton body work and fresh paint inside and out.
@@stunick1573 So basically just go ahead and finish it? LOL
I thank out of all of Matt’s drivers Kaulin is the one that PLAYS with the rear steer more than any of them
Took a sip of beer every time I heard “rear steer”. Big trouble!
Collin should have to put a nickel in the jar every time he said “Rear steer.” 💵😂
Loved the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Belt Color analysis to Recovery Experience 😄
MATT YOU BUILT AN AWESOME MACHINE WITH THAT WRECKER....I LOVE WHEN U BRING IT OUT FOR RECOVERIES...WHEN U DO I ALREADY KNOW ITS ABOUT TO GO DOWN💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Did someone say something about rear steer?
Awesome to hear Jake's belt ranking. Keep rolling, Jake!!
How many times did he say my rear steer???????? 100
I don't know but as a drinking game we all would have been blott-o in two minutes.
Jake and I have a lot in common. Thinking of weird things at weird times has haunted me my entire life. Good luck, Jake. 😁
15:03 This made me extremely happy. And you should too.
Did anyone catch was was broken on the wrecker? Kaulin needs to be more clear on what exactly was wrong and clarify it more than just the 48 times he managed to say it.
Hey editors, we needed a “rear steer complaint” counter on this one.
Wish we had a "rear steer" counter
Great job on the brakes Jake, everything else you do too but you did a really super good job keeping that jeep out of the wrecker.
Kaulin sp? You're a natural!
Who doesn’t love Jake, what a legend!!! Jake would make an awesome best friend.
how many times did Kaulin say rear steer ? I don't think it was enough.
Spoken in Jules Winfield’s voice….
“Say Rear Steer Again. Say it one more time, I dare you, I double dog dare you to say rear steer again”
Trailmater Doesn’t need rear steer
It is amazing the wrecker never overheats!
Big engine barely revving sure helps.
You should have called this episode “How many times can I wine about my rear steer”
If you wanna take a shot every time you hear "rear steer", have a doc on standby... 😅
Looks like a well built crawler!
But does it have working rear steer?
Did you hear the engine ? What kind of cam does he have in that thing ?
Agreed. There was nothing jeep left but some body panels lol
@jblob5764 That's what a built jeep is. Just Everyone Else's Parts..
Jake, the BRAKE MAN!! Your analogy of the belt levels was great...great focus on recovery!! Kaulin such a TERRIFIC PILOT and understanding of the Wrecker brings a positive and safe recovery!!
This channel has turned into Matt's kids recoveries 😂
Nice job on the recovery!! Kaulin and Jake make a good team. I wonder if Kaulin misses the rear steer??? LOL!!!
The next wrecker would like to have the boom pivot near where the winches now are. Near the cab. Boom would be horizontal and would be much less likely to hit the front / top of the vehicle being rescued. Don't misunderstand me, the wrecker is awesome! isn't that why they built the off road recovery trailer? Or maybe they need to build one for jeeps.
Just kept asking myself. Huh. Wonder why he’s not using the rear steer. Thankfully he was on top of it every time and reminded me it wasn’t working. 😂
15 minutes of Kaulin crying about not having rear steer.😢
needs to harden up
Kaulin complains about not having rear steer for 15 minutes.
Add up

A "Rear Steer" counter would have been very cool to see in the video
I wonder how he feels about not having rear steer?
Hey, did ya consider using the Rear Steer? That Wrecker has it ya know.
Will we ever see a piece of Matt's Off-Road Recovery equipment go out on a job 1. fully fueled 2. equipment fully functioning and 3. safety equipment (first aid, radios, etc.) on-board ?
No, but that's why we love it!
We should make this video a drinking game. Every time you heard "rear steer", bottoms up!
Fun fact Jake is a blue belt under 10th planet and has competed in jiu jitsu tournaments.
Interesting. Awesome, he doesn't look or act like he is studly. Ha
Loved Jake's belt ranking of the team!!
Checklists make it wreckless, or at least more professional as a reminder to bring the radios, spares, etc. 1:32 - is that swivel hook to hold a CB mic?
Fun perspective getting the view from the towed rig.
Love the wrecker, I got to see it under construction. I want to build a RC version!
Good morning Matt and crew!
My new work out plan is to watch this video and do a pushup or a situp every time Kaulin says "rear steer."
Kaulin bet you wish you had your rear steer. You need a Tierra Drama Queen. 😂 guy that came up with Jake brake is hilarious.
Makes it nice the ditors put all those rear steer references in. I wonder if they left any out. Or thought it was funny to leave them all in.
Should have called this one "Whining about rear steer". Great job on the recovery though.
Been up for daaaaayys waiting for the vid 😂
I get it. Rear steering makes it luxury and easier for not only recovery but also rockcrawling. A master of trade doesn't use excuses to get a job done. Kaulan sounded just like Matt, his phrases and demeanor basically just like Matt only he showed his fears different, Matt hides em well
No rear wheel drive working is KILLING HIM LMAO he will be ok. He knows what he's doing. Matt taught his son WELL ..THANKS GUYS😊
Matt is an incredible parent mentor, just look how good his kids and staff, like Katelyn and Jake, are.
Kaulin now knows what his ancestors went through the dark ages of towing and recovery. Grandpa tow truck driver says "I'n my day we didn't have rear steering. We had to push our rear axles into place!"
ahhhhh....... did you do it without the rear steer..!!!!
Great job with a wounded beast!👍🏼👍🏼
I feel it would be beneficial for jake to have control of the winches, he has more feel for what the towed vehicle is doing.
The wrecker is awesome, but that Jeep was dam sexy too. Probably the most “I want that” vehicle I’ve seen them tow out. Great job! :-)
If you did a drinking game with rear steer as the words you will not make it to the end of this video.😂
Awesome rescue

Jake's the ultimate back seat driver.
How many times did Colin refer to the rear steer? Asking for a friend
Hey Matt thanks for all the recoveries. It helped me out to decide on how to pull him out of the ditch. My power wagon handled it with no problem.
Up at 5am?
i wonder if he misses the rear steer
