I already ordered one of these, I'm just watching demos because it's not here yet. Also dropping a comment for the algorithm. Also, I'm excited to see how the parallel blend works. I bet mixing in a Gehenna or a Rat will sound insane.
I absolutely love the medusa especially with the king in yellow in the loop for added clarity. The medusa is amazing on its own as well though and way more versatile than most would think. I was getting some gnarly old school Black Flag tones out of it last night on a clean amp.
Great analysis work as always! The Medusa holds its own against the original for certain! I already have 2 HM-2s myself but I think I’ll get the Gehenna in the future as I like what LLA is doing.
Have you checked out the (Tone Charm Pedals) Occvlt Wrathprayer ....single knob HM-2 ? I really like it though it is hardly a dead on clone. It is $120.00 USD
Great review Dome! I have both. Great pedal. Not exact, but a great pedal for alternative tweaks and the noise gate is badass. Haven't tried the fx loop just yet. This makes me want to try the King In Yellow with one of my old trusties. The only think I wish the KIY had was parametric mids like the Vari-O-Boost to precisely place pick attack. For a plain boost sometimes I use just that pedal alone. Slight tightening, much more output than you need, and a amasing, simple EQ. The EQ has a dual gang pot, so I think it adjusts the Q at the same time as the frequency... But I'm not sure.
Thanks for the review. I think that lack of bass is a really big problem for Doomheadz .... But anyway, the Medusa could be complementary... Have a nice night...!
The old hm-2 sounds more open and the medusa sounds a bit icepicky and sterile. Atleast with the grind at max, but grind gets too polite when turned down. Maybe the blend could help to open up the sound and remove the icepick.
@@DomeNightbearer Would love to see that! I like using an HM-2 in shoegaze contexts, so these expanded “deluxe” versions of the pedal are up my alley. I’m kind of interested in how the Hell Melter stacks up too, but after EHX’s recent bullshittery I’m not sure I’d even want to buy one secondhand.

Das Pedal scheint echt genial zu sein. Und wie immer echt geiler Vergleich!

Can you do a pedal shoot out between HM-2, Lichtlaerm Medusa, and the Wurm2?
Thanks for this! So on these vids, are you running white/pink noise for the EQ visual?
Letting your hair loose increases the possibility of a crushing tone 🖤
FIRST OF ALL YOU MAKE AWESOME REVIEWS SECOND MEDUSA IS A GRINDER
Mine has been sitting in customs over a long weekend, cant wait to give a try!
customs can be quite challenging indeed...
@@DomeNightbearer nothing compared to the nightmare of watching a USPS parcel zigzag all over the USA :)

No, I haven't heard about that.

If you use the blend, you'll probably get some more bas. Or you could blend a bas heavy fuzz in the blend loop 😉

This could be my headphones thou 😅 but I miss some of the gnarly buzz of the hm-2 in the Medusa sounds.
This versus Guardian of the Wurm, which do you prefer?
So far, the Medusa, but I have to A/B them.

I actually preferred the sounds you were getting out of the Medusa
I did as well! But maybe people will get fooled by the beefier tone the HM2 has
@@DomeNightbearer they both have their uses!
No matter what, the Medusa looks so much cooler..
Yes, and that's what matters most... or 2nd 🤣
@@DomeNightbearer yes... and shiny gold in the glowing light from a pedaboard at night, beautiful effect.
