  • This video demonstrates how to get rid of the suspension fault that occurs when you delete magnetic ride shocks.
Magnetic ride, also known as electronic dampening control, or dynamic ride control, was an option on B8 and B8.5 Audis that allowed for suspension control in the drive select menu.
Many people delete these magnetic ride shocks to switch to coilovers or other upgraded shocks, like bilsteins or konis. There are no aftermarket shocks or coilovers that are compatible with EDC on this platform.
Removing the EDC shocks gives you a suspension system fault, and multiple companies sell resistor kits in the $300-400 range that plug into the suspension system connectors to trick the system into thinking magnetic ride shocks are still installed.
However, using VCDS, we can decode the module, and then unplug it, eliminating the fault for free.
Using the VCDS long coding helper, search through all bytes in control modules 09, 17, 19, and 5F for anything related to suspension control. Uncheck these bits and apply the changes.
The specific bytes and bits I had to change are shown in the video.
Then unplug the suspension control module in the trunk.
This will eliminate the suspension fault.
    Congrats, you’ve now saved $400.

The only thing I’d ad is to tell people to backup their long coding before messing with the bits.. 🍻
