Fortin Evo One Remote Start Install Guide on my B8.5 Audi S5 6MT

  • Compatibility:
    - This guide should apply to all 6MT Audis under the B8 and B8.5 Chasis, which range from 2008-2014.
    - Be aware that 2015-2017 have a different key bypass mechanism that requires completely different wiring. A key must also be sacrificed into the system for 2015-2017. The entire process will be much more complicated for these years.
    - Works for both push to start and non push to start vehicles. They have slightly different sequence methods to arm the remote start
    Disclosure:
    - Incorrectly wiring may cause damage to your central wiring harness. Follow video carefully, and refer to fortin’s guide linked below for clarification. I am not liable for electrical damage you may cause to your vehicle by improper wiring.
    - Disconnect battery when dealing with potentially live wires inside of the car.
    - Never attempt to remote start your car while it is in gear. This should be impossible given fortin’s arming sequence, however, exercise caution. If you are unsure of if you left the car in gear or in neutral, do not remote start. I am not liable for any damage you cause by improperly remote starting your vehicle.
    - Do not arm the remote start and leave the vehicle with the key inside. The car WILL lock the key inside, and you’ll be locked out.
    - Take your time. The hardest part is the key port connector. Do not force anything that isn’t meant to be forced.
    - Remote starters may be illegal in your area. Consult local law before installing. This guide is meant for legal application only.

    Things to note:
    - I am not a professional videographer or a TH-camr. This was my best attempt to film the install.
    - This video was filmed on an iPhone 12 mini and edited on iMovie (which is a software that personally, I would strongly recommend against using and have no plans to ever use again.)
    - If you are left with any questions following the video, feel free to dm me on Instagram @bootleg.rs5, or contact fortin support on their help page fortin.ca/en/c...
    - I recommend you watch the video in its entirety before attempting to follow along. I filmed as I went, and there are some notes I make after the fact. I did my best to re-film and edit the video to be in the best order of events, but I would still recommend finishing the video before taking apart your own car, so you know what you are getting into when you start

    Great video it shows the main stuff. I actually got the Fortin Rs for my Audi A5 automatic transmission. You need to do an extra step for the brake bypass which is the yellow and blue wire, this gets soldered to a red and black wire on the brake plug. You also don’t have to do the positive and negative terminals because the t harness does that. I’m super happy with the kit and thanks for video it got me through 80% of it.

    This was an EXCELLENT walk-thru. I am installing mine in the next couple days and this was so helpful. One thing that wasn't clear to me. IF one can actually reach behind the keyport and unhook the keyport cable should they be able to get the t-connector in right there and not have to remove that PITA black metal thing?

      @bootleg.rs5  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct. I only had to remove the key port because I couldn’t get the connector out.

    Awesome detailed guide! I have a 2013 s4 dsg and I’m wondering if I should also get the fortin one or the fortin all if I don’t have a manual?

      You should get the Fortin Audt1 kit, which will include the Evo all and the aud1 T harness.

    Nice guide bro! My kit is showing up today usps .. can’t wait, the install looks like a breeze thanks to you ..
    One Q , is can hi and lo not located at the obd plug as well? Thanks

    • @bootleg.rs5

      The remote start kit as I’ve wired it does not connect to the OBD2. The can wires might appear there too, but I found that the easiest place to get them was above the steering column. There are like a hundred pairs of wires that look almost identical. Gotta isolate the can bus wires.

      @@bootleg.rs5 gotcha, I think the hi:lo wires can be tapped right there at the obd plug with ease . I can report back after my install.. catch ya on the forums/fb groups .. 🍻

      @@brizax part of it as well was just where can I comfortably get a soldering iron. It’s really hard to solder something upside down, since the molten solder wants to fall with gravity.

      @@bootleg.rs5 I agree.. I think there is enough slack in the obd plug wire harness once you un clip it from the lower Foot shield ..

      Well it’s done .. Obd plug does NOT work.. glad that’s over with lol.. I had to decrypt my key 3 times to get it to finally work! Anyways beer time ..
      Any clue if you can still disable the light flashing with remote unlock / lock via vcds? I guess it coded over my remote settings

    Hey Bootleg, I just installed this Fortin unit today and I noticed that upon shutting down my car after remote starting, that the Audi MMI turns off immediately. If I start it normally (without remote start), the MMI stays on until you open the driver door. Just wondering if yours behaves like this too? Maybe it's a setting I missed. Cheers! :)

    i have question i think i bought evo all for my audi 2015. Do i have to plug evo all plug to the black wire 10:28?

    • @bootleg.rs5
      @bootleg.rs5  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      2015-2017 uses a different key port mechanism and therefore has different wiring than I use in this video.
      I would attempt to follow the fortin wiring guide as close as possible for your specific car.
      I believe you will have to wrap a key into the system.

      @bootleg.rs5  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since your wiring will be a bit different than mine, I would email fortin support if you need more help. Good luck!
