"Enjoy Yourself...It's Later Than You Think"...goes a 1940s hit song, by Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians! Applies to all of us who love snooping at flea markets, thrift stores and estate sales! That's one area I like to do...sift through those boxes and flats of smalls! Looks like you got a neat score! Enjoy...better than taking the money home with regrets!!
My favorite sellers at the market are those that just put out flats & boxes & we can get to digging! Did you attend any picnics this weekend? I know you have the nicest neighbors & friends, so one must have had a little gathering!
@@PaperandMoose No plans, as my neighbors are celebrating with their families. Just a quiet foggy day...San Francisco's summer is off to its late spring start! Hope you are having a nice family day today!
Hi Renee. The best find of the day. Paper and it's history is amazing. It can also be good for Memorial Day. Oh boy! You have a lot of history to go through. It does not matter how much you spent on paper. The best thing is it didn't go in the landfill. God Bless you Renee. Have an amazing day and a wonderful Memorial Day too. HUGS 🤗. Mari'a. 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️👋👋👋🌸🌼🌺🦋🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
I love the small leather boots. I once found the most adorable girl's shoes, I only wished they were adult shoes my size. I wound up gifting them. Many years later a young adult woman thanked me. Those were her favorite shoes ever. Best dollar I ever spent.
Looking at the growth of your channel, you did well to make your move on a leap of faith when you did!! Congrats!! Also, love the longer hair! Not sure I’ve mentioned that before but you are looking GOOD!! Keep it up!
Looked like a beautiful day to go to a Flea Market sale & I like the confidence that you have & am sure your intuition will prove to be profitable 📈 ! Happy Memorial Day 🇺🇸 To You & Your Family 😊.
Beautiful day and boxes & booths to look through. Is there anything better? Well, I suppose, but it's right up there. If you divide what you spent even just by hours of enjoyment from that box, I bet it will be less than the cost of a theater movie these days. Looks like a lot of really interesting stuff in there (maybe English-German correspondence before the war?!). Glad you had a great day - hope you had a great afternoon maybe going through the stuff. I chuckled a little when you noted how ornate the death certificates were in the late 1800s. Might be the nicest thing common folks had written about them aside from birth & wedding certificates. Puts me in mind of something I heard Garrison Keillor say once about bad timing of eulogies, "To have so many nice things said about you - and to miss it by just a few days . . . " Did you have enough bags to give people when selling from that storage unit? Hope you guys did great selling, hope the weather is still great up there, and hope you have fabulous plans for Memorial Day. Thanks for the video!
A little in replying, sorry about that! To think of the death/funeral notices that we sent out back then and how they were usually tucked away in a Bible or other book, to be found years later... The birth of the internet & social media now allows for us to just post on Facebook or send out a mass email to relay even the saddest of events like the passing of someone. I wonder what those that lived back then would think of now with some funerals even being live streamed on TH-cam! Of course, we would first have to explain to them what the internet is 😀 We save the bags found in the storage units for the bulkier purchases, like if someone buys a bunch of clothes or a large quantity of items. For the others, I have my plastic grocery bags that I saved prior to the NJ plastic bag ban. At least they can be reused too! Did you enjoy any picnics or just have a relaxing weekend with the family?
@@PaperandMoose No sweat on writing back - you have a lot of subscribers to welcome aboard and consider responding to now. My weekend was a couple of estate sales - found one old trunk for parts and heard some great stories from a guy who visited Campobello Island in ME on his 50th anniversary with his wife. His grandparents were from there. Also FDR's family (parents, etc.) had a house or compound there. But this guy's family were fisher people. Didn't used to be a bridge to the island. Would love to spend a day there in the 1920s to see what it was like. Tough, I bet. In-laws and oldest child came over for hot dogs and banana pudding tonight. Did a lot of work on one trunk & listed it for sale. But also did a lot of work-work. I think the weekend work-work will slow down after June. Hope you had a good MD - based on comments you sure made a lot of other people's very nice. Your last storage unit video ($10) seemed to do really well too. Congratulations!
Überraschung!! I am not surprised to see you buying paper and especially old 2nd World War German letters 😊 You did not say how much you spent but I am pretty sure it was worth it. 😊 Before I forget, I passed on your thanks to Käthe, maybe there will be more on the way if you would like. Have fun in your search for more treasures and enjoy the sunny days 😊 Greetings from Berlin
I’ m happy that you got all that beloved researchable paper to browse through, study, and identify the gems. Winning on all counts. Pity you didn’t fancy the ‘ Soup to Nuts’ cookbook though. I would have snagged that. If only for the fact that I love the phrase ‘ Soup to Nuts’…..😊
Lived in Germany as a child - my father was in the British Army, still know my numbers but most of the written and spoken german I knew has gone. Enough in that box to keep you going for awhile.
You can't put a price tag on bettering yourself and your knowledge! At least some times! I think your purchasing what you love only adds to the validation of the purchase? Stay safe and be careful! ❤️❤️🙏
0:01 Great intro. You got fantastic weather and it´s an amazing picture seeing your waving hair in front of the cloudless sky...👌Seems it´s getting hotter now in the NJ/ PA area. What, you purchased a war correspondence from Germany ?! 10:24 Yes indeed ("Mein lieber Werner..."), not an easy one, because the sender wrote in Sueterlin, which is tricky to decipher even for most Germans. I can read around 60/70 % and am far away from being perfect with that. 10:23 is "Akkumulatorensäure" (charger acid) to fill car and radio batteries. Be careful with those items, this acid (if there is some) is not a joke. I also saw "Industrie- Spiritus" for cleaning purposes and distilled water in the package. The death notice might be interesting for your further research because it contains a name (Johann Ebner). Interesting in bettering your German ? You might read "The American Corner". Just the very first blog might be interesting for you ("Ueber das Verschwinden der Amerikadeutschen / On the disappearence of German Americans"), and: they are nearly all written by me ! 😉Have a great Memorial day, and see you on the next one ! Greets from GER, U.
Now that makes sense why the writing looked a little bit different! Seuterlin... great. I'll have to see if the other correspondence is written the same way. I was hoping to purchase all of the paper that this seller had but was happy with what I did buy. No acid, just paper :0) The labels had been in a box of their own, so I picked out those in better condition. Wonder what their journey to the States was like! What is this blog that you write of? Email me the link!
Happy Memorial Day to You and TACO Stack ! Its always nice to see you guys sell together . I like the way you guys watch each others backs 😃 Great Flea Market Videos ! Have a wonderful week 😎
I always say nothing cost to much if its something you want. My mom recently gave me her collection of salt/pepper shakers & I'm trying to decide how to display them. I would love to see how you display some of your collections.
Great paper find..being .3/4 German I don't speak it( Dad passed at 53) but he was 100%.No one left..his brothers passed as well. I always was fascinated by the history of Germany& war...What are you into, all of it? Happy Memorial day weekend!!💮🦀🐞🌺🌸🦋🐚🐠🦜🌴❤🇺🇸
happiness is a Sunday morning breakfast of homemade toasted sourdough bread and mozzarella cheese, and a Paper and Moose video! 👏 You're looking like a golf pro in your visor....I think you paid just the right amount for your paper......cheers, 🍺
So, how can we say whether you spent too much or not if you don't tell us how much you spent for it. Thanks for sharing almost everything about your shopping trip! ( Just teasing you, I realize that it is none of my business.)
I know that if I said the price, I’d receive both positive & negative comments (spending too much, not giving more money, not knowing the exact value of what I bought, etc). Better to leave some wondering at times!
Don’t think I ever been to that flea market, looked like a good one. I miss the markets that were on grass, all the ones I go to now are on gravel or pavement Years ago I had some pharmaceutical labels like that, I glued them to some old bottles which I filled up with root beer Took them to a show and put them on the table, guy comes along picks one up and says it’s a wonder anyone could survive that stuff. I told him I drink it all the time, unscrewed the lid and took a big swig He just looked at me like I was crazy I did pretty good at my flea market yesterday, nothing real special just bread and butter stuff Was thinking about you, couple guys were looking at some ‘50s snap shots and laughing, heard something about someone setting on a toilet Was some people in home made Halloween outfits acting goofy I got them and tossed it in a box I have of stuff I’m going to send to you
I ❤watching you . I saw you picked up Orko. I made my son in early eighties a costume for Halloween. I would love to buy that from you please let me know thanks.
Well that looked like lots of future plans ahead at the research desk. I'm assuming it was more of a love of paper buy than a going to resell this next week kind of buy. Looked like a good day weather wise as well 👍👍
What a beautiful box. It is worth buying. Also worth learning and bettering your German. I lived my youth in Germany. Its rich heritage is beautiful. But there can be money made in German history -- so it's a very good buy
Hello Renee . I don’t know how much you paid but if we’re going by quality of your purchase I think you didn’t over pay at all. It really is a great lot of paper. Lots of interesting things and it will be fun to read the letters and know what was going on with people then. I wish I was there to pick up the photo of the two children together I rather liked it.
