I love Corey's reaction when keeps messing up and Ben's voice is just magic, even when he messes up during "poor GUYS head is spinning" and when the crowd shouts "and we've got jack!" I was half expectig at least one person to shout at the end "and I've got a date!" anyone else think that other than me?
Meghan Robertshaw I did, honestly. I shouted it when I was on a bus back from a church conference, and everyone looked at me like I was insane. (None of them listen or watch Newsies.)
Hahaha I'm pretty sure he's actually saying "he's a r-I changed the key!" (Cause he did change the key and then went back and fixed it) SO FUNNY!!!! I love Corey Cott so much!
i love how he did the correct key change when he was like "i changed the key" and everyone laughs, but then later ben forgets the lyrics and moves it down!!! they started higher than written and ended lower hahaha!!!!
My favorite moments: 0:47 ben looks confused when he waves his arms 0:57 that little voice crack from Cory 1:01 ben aggressively hitting himself 1:12 *slap* 1:15 Ben looks so proud of himself lol 1:18 that little finger wave 😂 1:28 1:34 1:38 Cory having no idea what the lyrics are 1:43 the audience helping them both out
what have we learned from watching this 1: Corey can’t be put on the spot 2: Ben needs vocal warmups with POoOoR GuYS HEaD IS SPinNiNg 3: Fans know e erything better than the cast 4: AND I GOT A DATE!
Things I learned from obsessively watching Newsies, all versions, ten times a piece: 1. How to do a good New York accent 2. Why I'm not working in a factory rn 3. Batman can sing 4. Why snakes really rattle
okay so i don't know if you're actually wanting an answer or not but, speaking as an actor--when you do a show regularly, everything becomes sort of muscle memory, you don't even really have to think "what's my next line?" because it just comes as naturally as normal speaking. buuut that's when you're doing it as part of a full show, in-character, after warming up and taking a moment to get "in character" and switch from being in the headspace of "i'm an actor" to being in the headspace of "i'm this character". without doing all of that, it's actually pretty easy to mess up. plus going from singing with a full orchestral backing to singing a capella can be jarring. tl;dr a bakery is an entirely different environment than a stage and actors are creatures of habit who get thrown off by change
Marla Joseph oh, I am an actor too but have never done a show that ran for more than 2 weeks (I'm only 14). But that seems strange because other people still know the lines
He probably relies on some of the music for cues on what to say and when to say it. It's like practicing something and knowing it by heart if you do it one way, but then you do it another way and your mind goes blank.
Ok so this is like my fifth time watching this in a row and I just realized that in addition to “and we’ve got jack!” someone also sings Les’s “stay on track” harmony at 2:28
That’s so fucking cute and the fans are so cute and the world is suddenly pink and soft blue and I can’t help but feel like we got a better future than we did yesterday.
I love how Corey just flat up forgets the words. To the musical. That he’s the lead in.
Are we surprised tho

Pinkyshy101 that’s literally what I was about to comment
So THAT’s why the earth is overpopulated!?
Corey had a show that night. He had a show and he forgot the lyrics right then. He was still in the show.
i love that you can just see Corey getting more and more confused as Ben's singing until he says "what's the next lyric?"
I knew I wasn't the only one! XD
same I was like "no one? really?"
Meghan Robertshaw I did, honestly. I shouted it when I was on a bus back from a church conference, and everyone looked at me like I was insane. (None of them listen or watch Newsies.)
I was waiting, then the video ended
Ben messed up because he didn’t practice that line 60 times before the performance. :)
"Here's what I think, Joe's a jerk, he's a ratchikiki" xD
Hahaha I'm pretty sure he's actually saying "he's a r-I changed the key!" (Cause he did change the key and then went back and fixed it) SO FUNNY!!!! I love Corey Cott so much!

i love how he did the correct key change when he was like "i changed the key" and everyone laughs, but then later ben forgets the lyrics and moves it down!!! they started higher than written and ended lower hahaha!!!!
Two things.
1) Ben looks so proud at "we've got them surrounded!!"
2) Corey. Buddy. Your lines are literally like one word. XD
When Ben goes, "poor guy's head is spinning." I'm shouting, "YOU CAN DO IT BEN!! GET THAT NOTE BOY!!"
Ben is such a charismatic guy! I love the harmonies

Liana was the only one who knew what she was doing
+Lara Cromwell that's not Kara :) Kara was the original Katherine, though!
I would be the one to stand up and say "and I've got a date!" at the end like in the show!
Clare Kube that's the dream
Me too. I did it with my sister at home when we heard that didn’t say it.
Same
THEY'RE ALL CINNAMON ROLLS
Jackie ...Is that a pun? They're in a bakery.
Jackie no just no stop😑
how can they forget a song that they sing every single day? hahahaha, I love this.
You know who is an adorable talented amazing human being to grace this earth with his presence?
Ben Fankhauser. WHAT A DOLL
Ur icon slowly kills me
I think my favorite thing is the way they smile when the customers came in with”And we got Jack” they looked so proud😭
BEN FOR THE WIN. Oh my I love his voice.
Stephanie Siu same
I love Ben's enthusiasm!
classic example when fans know the song better than the cast 😂😂😂😂
Corey kept forgetting the words and Ben would just laugh and be cute ahh I love them
my heart melted when everyone in the store did les' part
"Wait I changed the key"
YES I DIED LAUGHING HAHAHA
When did he say that?? I can't find it anywhere
1:18
ohhh, I thought he just fumbled and was blabbering. thanks
Don’t modulate the key then not debate with me
BENS LITTLE JUMP AND HIM CLINGING ONTO COREY AFTER HE MESSED UP FOR THE FIRST TIME I LOVE THEM
I have watched this so many times that I've lost count and yet every time I do I can't help but smile
tbh i would go there just to buy cookies from ben
i think that's literally the point of the whole thing
My favorite moments:
0:47 ben looks confused when he waves his arms
0:57 that little voice crack from Cory
1:01 ben aggressively hitting himself
1:12 *slap*
1:15 Ben looks so proud of himself lol
1:18 that little finger wave 😂
1:28
1:34
1:38 Cory having no idea what the lyrics are
1:43 the audience helping them both out
I like how the crowd knows the song better than they do lol
I love how the crowd knows their lines better than the actors. Honestly this is going to be me as an actress
what have we learned from watching this
1: Corey can’t be put on the spot
2: Ben needs vocal warmups with POoOoR GuYS HEaD IS SPinNiNg
3: Fans know e erything better than the cast
4: AND I GOT A DATE!
MADDIE
HI
So I've seen this like 8 million times and it's actually my favorite thing in life
agreed!! even tho they "mess up" IM CANT STOP WATCHING IT ITS PREFECT
the harmonies in this give me chills, theyre that good
Things I learned from obsessively watching Newsies, all versions, ten times a piece:
1. How to do a good New York accent
2. Why I'm not working in a factory rn
3. Batman can sing
4. Why snakes really rattle
1:34 Ben: THE POOR g̶u̶y̶s̶ HEAD IS SPINNING
the pooR guYs head is spinning
1:07
I'm laughing because of the conviction in Corey's voice when he says, "As I recall *Dave* we all got our asses kicked..."
I love Rob in the background!!! So adorable!!! 😍
i’ve seen this about 12 times and corey forgetting everything still gets me
1:20 Ben's little hop gives me life
When Corey and Ben mess up 😂😂😂😂😂
i love how the audience was correcting them...we STAN the energy in this video
It's like Ben knows he's one of the greatest memes in Broadway history...
how the heck did corey not know the lyrics he literally sings the song every night!
He just knows the lyrics when he is on stage
okay so i don't know if you're actually wanting an answer or not but, speaking as an actor--when you do a show regularly, everything becomes sort of muscle memory, you don't even really have to think "what's my next line?" because it just comes as naturally as normal speaking. buuut that's when you're doing it as part of a full show, in-character, after warming up and taking a moment to get "in character" and switch from being in the headspace of "i'm an actor" to being in the headspace of "i'm this character". without doing all of that, it's actually pretty easy to mess up. plus going from singing with a full orchestral backing to singing a capella can be jarring.

I'm an actress and it's super easy to forget the lyrics when you're not in your typical performing space/ not in character. it happens
He probably relies on some of the music for cues on what to say and when to say it. It's like practicing something and knowing it by heart if you do it one way, but then you do it another way and your mind goes blank.
Ben is adorable, his voice makes me melt
Corey Cott is adorable!!
I got to see him on The Bandstand at the Papermill playhouse!!
Ok so this is like my fifth time watching this in a row and I just realized that in addition to “and we’ve got jack!” someone also sings Les’s “stay on track” harmony at 2:28
Really funny how they messed up a song they Sang 8 times week
“The poor gUYS HEad is spiinningg!” I love them omg
Ben is the most adorable human ever
I was just expecting whoever was playing Les at the time to pop out from behind the counter and do his line at the end 😄
That moment when you know the words better than the actual cast.
The barista is such a fangirl its AMAZING. LOVE YOU BARISTA
Corey..... your lines are literally one word! 😂😂
I suddenly want to work there! Lol
don't we all?
my favorite part was that corey couldn't remember the lyrics to save his life, and then ben couldn't either so the customers had to remind them XD
I love these humans so much
I was waiting for someone to say, "and I've got a date!" At the end
I was kind of expecting someone to yell out “and I’ve got a date” at the end of the song, but this is still the best thing I’ve ever seen
when you don't warm up but your doing great
I may have watched Rob McClure for most of this. He's the best.
If this ain't the cutest shit I've ever seen.
I never knew I needed an a cappella version of this til now.
The harmony at the end is amazing.
I need to watch this three times daily for my sanity.
I would have been the geek to shout “AND IVE GOTTA DATE”
only true singers can still find their harmonies in a different key
they're so adorable.
Why are they so adorable?! It’s not fair to my heart!
Ben: *Violently slaps Corey*
Ben: poor gUuUys head is spinning
Corey: *Forgets lyrics*
Me: *D I E S*
the harmonies!!!!!!
They're so pure
still my favorite video in existence
I come back to this video at least once a month
he's a r-I changed the key
1:15 so perfect

I just clicked this timestamp like 20 times to put it on repeat and I'm still in love...
Eugenia Grigorian and the arm wave tho
THAT HARMONYYYYY
I love how the people watching sang Les's part
That’s so fucking cute and the fans are so cute and the world is suddenly pink and soft blue and I can’t help but feel like we got a better future than we did yesterday.
This fills me with so much joy!!
If anybody figures out what Rob McClure's saying when they're singing the "We're doing something no one's even tried" part please tell me???
Ah the joys of ur muscle memory working against you in acting
The crowd didn’t say “And I’ve got a date”
this video is all i need in my life
oh my precious children
Oh my goodness. These people were actually in the show, right? XD Joking, I know they were.
AND WE'VE GOT JACK!!!
(And I've gotta date!)
I love how the fans knew the song better than the actual performers
I'm convinced the Fansies know this song better than the cast.
Yet again, a good chunk of us ARE theater kids
We all are waiting for that one line but every time an interruption happens and you are left waiting in anticipation.
The poor GuYyYyS head is spinning
If you don’t smile while watching this, you’re a monster. Ben Fankhauser makes everyone smile period, he can just do that 😂👏🏼
