Thank you so much for this teaching.. this helps me understand more..
I have been having misfortune and strange problems hit me up several times since I fed my Chi and had my own ikenga,, I'm still struggling to believe that its the process to the success, or could there be something I did wrong while I was feeding my chi.. or did the dibia (priest) do wrong work for me.
Since I had that ikenga things got tougher honestly. But the reason I did it was because AFA said I will be successful If I feed my chi.. but I fed my chi and it got tougher..

@@prosperifesinachi6608 I'm going to assume you're referring to material success. I also don't know what you're going through or been through or what you have tired so hopefully want I have to say helps because it's pretty generic. I think that people are replacing common sense with going to a dibia or equating odinani with dibia visits. If I feed you it won't make you more successful so apply that logic to your Chi. Focus, work hard is your Ikenga, the statue is a symbol and will not magically create success because its just wood. It exists to remind you to face and embrace ike i ji na-aga. People are trying to enter Odinani with Pentacostal mentally (pray and things will fall out of the sky for you). Throw the Ikenga away if it doesn't lift your actual Ikenga (your drive and focus).

I like that even though following Agwu is a strict commitment it is one that is entirely dependent on choice. You only have yourself to blame it it affects you negatively because there is the option to cleanly separate oneself from that selection.
"You do what works best for you to achieve the end goal, because that is between you and your chi." I love this statement. I believe there's a proverb that basically states you do you/ live and let live? I wish I could remember the actual words.
I am consistently awed by your videos; the already engaging content is made even better with the visuals you've chosen as well as your soothing voice.

I agree with u in everything but not all agwu can be appeased. If u are chosen to serve it, u can't escape nomatter what you do. Your chi and your agwu will warn you before they kill you, if you refuse to serve them. But it depends on the type of agwu you have. We have oke agwu and nwunye agwu

The balance of the alusi on the head is the balance of all your demons in yourself and putting yourself above your demons that you are totally in control of your mind. Being self aware of your mind and in control of emotion and actions and words and thoughts and imagination, this keeps you in control things outside yourself as well as things within you. Keeping things within you balanced is the essence of awgu, this balancing of various arusi on your head makes your awgu to manifest physically making you become the one who as tamed his own demons and this in turn keeps your in line with chi ukwu cus you have chose not to obey arusi but the chi in all things.

In South Africa people who have “the calling” go through exactly what you’ve described. And have the same options you’ve described (yes/no/later) and go through initiation (ukuthwasa) to become traditional healers. Fascinating to hear this process from an Igbo perspective & for them to be so similar!

13:56 this is deep. The names of the binary configurations are almost the same as in Yoruba Ifa: Odi is the same, Ofu would be spelled Ofun, Ose is the same, Akwu is Oyeku, Otule is Otura, Aka is Ika, Ora is Osa, Ete is Irete, Obi is Ogbe, Okala is Okanran, Atulukpa is Oturupon, Obala is Obara, Ogeli is Iwori...only 3 of them that seem different: Agali is Owonrin, Ululu is Irosun, and Ijite is Ogunda

I live on the Caribbean and of course you know that we lost our identity during slavery..i know the Orishas..but nothing about the Igbo..this is the first time i have gotten so much clarity on why my life has been so stressful..

Many Arushi are geography/town based. Some of the more popular ones like Amadioha, Chukwu Abiama, and Ekwensu for example have a specific town that started them and spread from there. Every town has it's Arushi and they have ranging levels of popularity. That being said, Agwu is the closest to universal and also goes by the name of Agwu Nsi, Nne Agwu and others. Where there's Dibia and Afa, there's Agwu. It's my thought that Agwu is more than likely among the oldest known Arushi and dates back to a time of common origin. No town can claim Agwu but all know it.

I would further add that Agwu , pronounce Aa- gwu. .note the "W" is not silent . Thus Agwu is more of a spirit that influences the mental state of a human being. Its connotation is more inclined to the nagative as opposed to wisdom as has been espoused in this narrative. At best, Agwu is a mental influencing spirit , at best , it is the spirit a negative mental energy. Hence thw word "Agwu Ishi" meaning the spirit of stubbornness or dysfunction.

Stop destroying your language the more, agwu doesn't mean mental disability, rather when you refuse to align with your agwu it could lead to mental disability, agwu doesn't disturb everyone, but when you are in good terms with agwu then you will be filled with wisdom.

@@desmond6361 If that is your perspective, then own it. Igbo land is verse and interpretations of a concept is not universal. Rather, in some cases it can be region, or sub-tribe specific. The interpretations are not necessarily absolute. I would subscribe that your response does not have to be in the negative or of an admonishing nature. Rather put forward your opinion or perspective so that you can present an intelligent and mature discourse.

It’s confusing cos I was thinking Chi is called Ori in Yoruba. But then deeply thinking about it I came to the conclusion of it Chi being your guardian ancestral spirit. To venerate your Chi in Igbo cosmology it requires the feeding your Chi with a chicken or a goat or a cow depending on how much favor you received from it. But I don’t think Ori requires the killing of animals as mentioned above. At conception we r joined with our guardian ancestral spirit (Chi), guardian Orisa (arushi) & destiny path (akaraka) or kadara as yorubas will call it.
