The first 35 seconds of this was often used in the BBC television game show Time Commanders, particularly at moments when the team's army was in a tricky situation. As with all of the soundtrack, the whole song is superb!
Time Commanders was so frustrating to watch, in the episodes I checked out. It was a pretty cool concept, ruined by the utter stupidity displayed by nearly all the contestants.
I searched this through Shazam because I never recalled hearing, strangely enough I’m at my 46th settlement, with Antiognos like 98 years of age, first generation hehe
i never hear this song all those years ago, it honestly confused the hell outta me when i first heard it in the remastered as i couldn't recall this song
for all those who ask where this track is played, the answer is in the banner of the gardens of Babylon, but not the whole track, just the last 40 seconds
@@ZuluTheBee He is correct. There’s a video on TH-cam showcasing the wonders in Rome Total War, and that last part matches up with what plays when you capture the Mausoleum. Not all of the wonders take from this track though. As far as I know, the Pyramids one doesn’t come from here, as well as the Statue of Zeus at Olympia
I remember watching a televsision game show which I believe till this day played this game and did a competition on who is the best commander watching it as a kid I promised myself I'll build a powerful enough computer to play it and I finally did was one of my favs!
I believe this track and "Epic" (second to last track on the playlist) didn't make the cut for the soundtrack but you can hear shorter sections of them during the cutscenes for wonders. I think this one was used for the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and then "Epic" for the Statue of Zeus at Olympia.
Part of this music plays when you capture Hanging Gardens of Babylon, another when you get Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, and a final one when you get Statue of Zeus.
Is this Jeff Van Dyke's official TH-cam channel? I'm making a mod for the original Rome Total War which is set in the Second Punic War just after Cannae. I would love to request access to some of the battle music used in BBC's Time Commanders which didn't make it into the final game to put into the battle mode (on the 1% chance he still has copies and says yes 😂 )
The sound track in RTW RM is even better than this one from original RTW tho... i got it once i captured my 47th province but now for some reason I cant reproduce it amymore... Any tips? I like the Remastered version better than the original...

This also plays when you reach the Marian Reforms as a Roman faction in the Remastered version.
When i defetead Greek Cites it also plays
that's genius...
That's very appropriate. Ominous to signify the birth of an unstoppable army and the bloodshed it will produce. Ominous..... but not for you.
For anyone wondering this track plays when you take one of the wonders
I think they basically broke the track up into 7 parts for each of the wonders
@@greypilgrim228 Oh yeah, thats true, the early part is for the mausoleum
Didn’t recognise it because it’s not being played 10x louder than the rest of the audio 😂
you made my childhood, Jeff
never knew this was part of the soundtrack that's awesome
oh wait, it's this soundtrack that triggers everytime you've taken 46th settlement
I searched this through Shazam because I never recalled hearing, strangely enough I’m at my 46th settlement, with Antiognos like 98 years of age, first generation hehe
@@GabrielNBarta That's some luck of the Gods right there
@@GabrielNBarta wat
It just happened to me too, 46th settlement captured.
This soundtrack appears in Melkor's videos a lot
You mean "Määlkööööör"?
@@curiousdave you mean "Melgooooneee"?
I was strolling through Kornith and i heard it
First I realised this music after capturing Rome as Carthage. I was impressed. It was the beginning of the end))
@@ZuluTheBee I think maybe central asian.
@@ZuluTheBeeDoes it matter?
I wish we could go back to those days...

The Marian reforms and capturing wonders I think
great music

Time Commanders, on BBC television.
For anyone wondering this was made specifically for melkor 😂 (only legends will understand)
I can't recall ever hearing this in-game! Where is it from?

They are in the remastered version now.
Was super surprised to hear this one and thought "Oh wow! They made new music!"
It plays when you take 46th settlement.
I got this track during Marian Reforms.
when you deploy your units before the battle starts, it's where this one runs but only the part before the guitar comes in
We are take this settlement for you my lord!
Melkor is Back ! Praise !!)
This song is basically like a remix of "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica.
Hey Jeff! Can't find Lonely Strategos anywhere (except on someone's video playing it on the piano), did something happen?
Does anyone know what guitar cord this is?
None. It is played on a 12 string I believe.
This is the peak of music everything has been downhill from here
I can't figure out if this would have been for the campaign or battle
Probably campaign. Watching over the world; trying to decide your next move.
Contemplating.
Part of this music plays when you capture Hanging Gardens of Babylon, another when you get Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, and a final one when you get Statue of Zeus.
It plays each time when you capture one of the wonders but it also plays when you reach reforms as a roman faction.
Pre-battle I think, the first 25 seconds play just like two of the four pre-battle themes which made it into the original game

Sounds like this should be part of the dwarf fortress soundtrack 😅

also played while i capture Temple of Halicaranssus
as non greek faction only for some reason and also as you said somewhere around 45+ settlement
