Depends on which country you’re in, I purchased mine in Sweden through here: www.jula.se/catalog/bygg-och-farg/spikar-och-skruvar/rostfria-skruvar/trallskruvar/trallverktyg-014539/ But if you’re in the US you’d want something like this: www.amazon.com/MARKSMAN-Fastening-Installation-Spacing-Decking/dp/0205062040/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3UQCOLZJJ5KY7&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.DKChWjxg1c5KzjoojEa3_Fqll9xzKuwZ4nU2pqLh6mfOkuNEtLgV8BXCp0A-ds8TjfdTlFubbnOFamObnAKm-Quo-0hd_n-yEhRDVSU2gzQOK7rHWQhtAdxzy7R2LT9QsSc2U9BXBp2WLGqvF79iGkReSwHmJsPxLjZpD3kEzSaLy-yeE3knAlohLXJv8zrs8nOXnr6f5bn7fU2KKL3wK7asOkeAt8nkitF8e4kCmtuiZJ5JA80F2ue7n7fPWMLjSThKhcJ76iTpGCftOADQvBiS_6kfFV0sMS-u-Lnk_A4.jN4vLn74QYsU3h1lMuRcNbLdmFwdEP3kMtf8_vvAu44&dib_tag=se&keywords=Deck%2Bscrew%2Btool&qid=1730830477&sprefix=deck%2Bscrew%2Btool%2Caps%2C175&sr=8-5&th=1
Super nice build, doesn't the floor get cold? We've done lots of charred wood at our offgrid cabin but never thought to do inside. I'm building a sauna next year so you definitely gave me some good ideas. I'll be milling all my own wood, cedar, birch, aspen, pine and a price is abundant. I have so many aspens in thinking maybe the outside cladded. But the floor is my only concern. Will composite be bad to breath in? I can get 4x8 sheets of composite instead of plywood. But you have your wide open. Again curious how it does on the cold where I am it can hit - 40c
Great question, this is something I was thinking about when weighing the design, and did some testing when building a friends sauna prior to my own. This sauna was sitting there cold all day in -25C and we walk in and start a fire, that stale air is being replaced by sucked up air from below the sauna and consumed by the fire and expelled out the chimney, and in the time it takes to make the room hot 15-30min, the materials inside gets warmer and the floor is very comfortable to walk on barefoot. Many will do sauna with flip flops and won’t notice the floor temp. The key here is to make sure outside freezing winds don’t blow up from below and making the room freezing. The only circulation is by the air pulled by the burner, which means you’ll have fresh air to breath in there at all times. I can’t speak for -40C, but -25C was not even cold in there barefoot. I have experienced-33C and the air doesn’t move much at that temperature in Sweden, so it was bearable. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and commenting! And try filming your build as well, you won’t regret capturing it, I only regret not filming all my other builds.
@RNST_Builds thanks a lot for the reply, and that does make sense. For my build I do have the stove loading from outside and it have two ports for water pipes. But the fact thag it's bearable and not that cold sure helps my thinking. Loved the charred wood in the inside and you did an amazing job. Yoh attention to detail workmanship is really impressive. Appreciate the video and hope you have many relaxing days in the sauna. I'm up in northern Ontario, and I will try to film my build I've done so many projects I probably should have filmed as haha. Offgrid sure is rewarding.
That’s a cool concept! I have actually never seen that before. If this channel takes off and does well, I’ll find an off grid spot in America and build build build and make the best videos I can. I personally watch lots of off grid building and find it extremely satisfying.
Thanks for the video. Im only in the beginning yet but could you link the tool you used for your deck? Appreciate it!
