I remember as a kid choosing a happy meal over a normal meal without fail every time I went to MacDonalds with my mum. This was a infrequent treat that coincided with my Moorfields eye hospital appointments. Looking back, I remember some of the toys were quite ingenious but others seemed to scrape the bottom of the ideas barrel. For example, one particular toy sticks in my mind, a personified tree called Too Tall. I am going to Google it in a minute but I seem to remember being utterly disappointed with it at the age of 8.
I was very rarely allowed to have McDonalds as a kid, there was the infrequent birthday party on the toadstool seats - most people had happy meals then. I've just searched your "Too Tall" who seems to be part of Funny Fry Guys. Totally agree though, very hit and miss with the effort and quality. I highly recommend the changeable though!
@@retro_restorations It is concerning that it seems our respective parents understood that MacDonalds was bad for you, not a decent meal substitute ETC, yet now people regularly visit them, probably armed with far more factual awareness of just how bad they are. I also remember it was more of an effort to find a MacDonalds growing up, there wasn't one in every town.
I also remember those parties, they were a bit lackluster if I recall correctly, yes you got to sit on the toadstool seats (thanks for the memory jog) but there wasn't much to it. Some restaurants had a member of staff come out in a clown suit and maybe hamburglar but that never happened at the parties I went to... it just needed up being toadstall seats, balloon, party bag, happy meal. I don't think the party bag was supplied by MacDonalds either.
