@@harrywood3829 I would’ve enjoyed the first one if not for it corrupting my save for no reason and losing all my progress. The only AC game to do that.
The Hidden Ones dlc has one of the best outfits of the newer games and the Walls-Of-The-Ruler fortress is the most fun base clearing I’ve had in a long while.
The hidden ones was goated. I loved the roman forts like the wall of the fortress. Way bigger, way more guards to kill, way more loot and captains it was fun.
It's also interesting to note that the player character was a lot more realistically responsive to changes in motion in the older games, whereas Bayek simply rotates his body like a robot. I know this from empirical experiments - when loading into games like AC3, I would rapidly shift the movement stick left and right to see how funny it looked as the character on screen would adjust their left and right legs accordingly. But when loading into Origins, Bayek does what I pointed out - simply statically rotate his body.
It is crazy that Origins managed to pull off the open environment action style game better than the next two. I still prefer the old AC games but i didnt love odyssey and sadly couldnt even finish Valhalla. Just don't have the time to do the same thing 800 times in a row
origins is my favorite game to this day. if the older games were remade it might be different but origins plays amazing today and the revenge story is so good, i actually feel bayeks emotions when he kills a target
I still think Odyssey would’ve been an instant classic if it wasn’t related to AC whatsoever and was just a story about a descendant of Leonidas. Putting the AC name to that story really took a lot away from it
This is just a ridiculous reason to hate Odyssey. It shouldn't be an Assassin's Creed game because the protagonist lived centuries before the Hidden Ones or Brotherhood existed. Odyssey specifically focuses on other aspects of the franchise and it is still an amazing game.
@@ac_nerd9794 When did I say I hated it? In fact it’s one of my favorite games I’ve played. I just think weirdly tying it to AC did more bad than good. Game was amazing, but probably could’ve been even better without the shoehorned AC lore
@@SebuTK I didn't say you hated it, I was simply saying that the it would be an amazing game if it wasn't Assassin's Creed is a ridiculous statement in any instance as Odyssey is a marvel of a game. The Assassin's Creed lore is what makes it better. The fact that Ubisoft made a game that does other things for the franchise, and it is critically acclaimed and most gamers love it is enough to say its a classic. The only people that hate it are the ones wanting Unity 2.0 which for me is just not sensible.
@@ac_nerd9794 “This is a ridiculous reason to hate Odyssey” Argue semantics all you want but that’s what you said. I simply disagree that the AC dynamic made it any better. Difference of opinion and that’s alright. I just think that for how good it was already, and the concept it was riding was strong enough to have the whole game be around instead of throwing you 30 minutes of dialogue nearing the end of the game tying this into AC.
This is my favourite AC game alongside Black Flag, but I do wish later games went a bit lighter on the RPG mechanics. This still feels like the sweet spot.
I think ac origins is the best of the newer three. Like odyssey, origins and Valhalla. I would even compare it to other ac games. I completely agree that the part of you literally cannot go against an enemy that is 2 or 3 levels over you. I think the setting, characters, the difference between all the other games, the parkour is pretty good as well and the story. (The characters are amazing and I think Bayek is in my opinion has the most reason for being a hidden one, I mean dang, they did Bayek DIRTY )
Origins has some of the best side missions in the series and so many moments that actually picked at my emotions. The rpg elements weren't as much as a roadblock either because I enjoyed exploring Egypt so much and stealthed so many bases as I explored that the level system never roadblocked me by the tine i mived to another area. There was so much I loved about this game that I was able to forgive it for not having as much parkour compared to older games and for the 2 times I stealth killed a guard with the hidden blade and they didn't die right away.
This is the only "new" assassins creed game ive played, currently playing it now and im absolutely in love with it. The parkour is still fun, the battles and swordplay is amazing in my opinion, im loving every bit of it, ancient egypt is my favorite time period to learn about and getting to play in a MASSIVE open world is alot of fun, this game is also incredibly beautiful visually.
Good point on the linear aspect of the newer games. However, Odyssey, if you have the right gear and patience, gives you a higher chance of survival before it's too hard
You do, you've just been playing video games all your life. Hand it to a non gamer and they'll die in a few enemies no matter which older game. My partner likes to try games I'm into and they'll see me mow down 50 guys in ac 3 then struggle with 10.
@@jameer7565that's called a learning curve lol, just because she didn't grasp the mechanics minute 1 doesn't mean they're endlessly complex or impossible for non-gamers to use. Once you figure out how to parry/counter, you've basically won the game already
i think both old style assassins creed and new style AC are both good and they could go both ways and id not complain. like if they made the next one the older style ok then make the next one after that new style ok id be happy with them mixing it up both ways. And i own every AC except Valhalla, but its 15$ on xbox digitally right now and i think im about to have it too ❤
I like the level system and the idea of getting stronger. It’s a fun challenge to me like “ yesterday you one punch manned be, but wassup now tough guy I got a new sword” lol
for me the ac origins was a absolutely beatiful game and actually a good ac game because the story and the mechanics the combat system was so W and in the other assassins creed u could counter everyone with some clicks so its a bit mid
Even tho you are more level and gear depend than in older entries I found the combat to be much more challenging and entertaining. Even tho I loved the old games I think that the combat always felt a bit boring after a few hours.
Exactly! I’m currently doing a replay on hard mode where even one enemy can be a massive threat if I dont time my dodges and parries right. It gets tense when there’s 3 or more enemies shooting arrows and charging me. Where my dodges, parries, and spacing skills get truly put to the test!
Odyssey wasnt evwryones favorite, but they did fix the combat lineancy than Origins didnt provide. A lot of fights required more skill than good equipment. Equipment was just there to boost your playstyle.
You don't have to do much to level up. Just killing and exploring in general gives you a bunch of xp. Like I hardly ever had to grind my way up a few levels to be on par with the mission, I'd naturally level up by just messing around exploring and killing everything that moves.
Replaying through Odyssey right now, and tbh I find that story just as emotional and compelling as Origins. Where Origins is about Bayek's rage, Odyssey is more about the Eagle Bearer's family tragedy and how they choose to handle it. The fact that I as a player am choosing whether or not to kill my father inherently makes the choice more compelling imo. Not that every story needs player agency, but when it's done well it highlights the incredible advantage video games have over other media, and Odyssey does it very well
Picked this up used a few months ago. Very good game in the series. Too many random weapons that I ended up selling off but the vast amount of gear also means you can customize to what you like.
I didn’t play Origins, but started with Odyssey and I think it’s fire. Reminds me of Shadow of Mordor. Can’t wait to beat it and get Valhalla and Mirage. I like this new direction they are taking. Just build on this..
If you buy the game with the dlc you can autojump to level 40+ so you can play the dlc, and that does make you kind of invincible but I like it more as it removed the grind. I made the jump from level 25 to 40 when I felt I needed to start grinding, but tbh I wish I had jumped to 40 from the start.
I honestly don't really agree with the skill aspect considering thats per player 😂. I had no skill issue because I focused purely on stealth. I think the game actually punishes you for not being stealth based. Sure you CAN go all out swords blazing but if you just take your time you'll realize the stealth route is the way
I kinda disagree on the "combat relies more on gear than skill." Every AC's combat(exepct the RPGs and Unity) was the exact opposite of skill. Open combat was so easy in fact, it's preferable over stealth. Why sneak and blend around for 10 mins when you could walk in and kill evrryone in 2 mins? Because you want to *FEEL* like an Assassin, no other reason to not go open combat.
I'd argue that even though the gear is important to the combat system, it actually requires more skill than previous AC games that only required the player to push one button
You guys can say whatever you want. You can say that this game doesn't remind you of assassin's creed. But the story, protagonist and setting of this game is peak. And that's not negotiable
Personally Odyssey is my favorite. Origins is great but ancient Greece plus ship combat is too good. Valhalla disappointed me at first but the DLC was really good.
I think that part that kills me with the rpg games is sneak attacking only does bonus damage it doesn’t actually assassinate them unless your level and gear is high enough
Ehh, I wouldn’t say a crux of it is being the leveling system causing u to miss out on certain areas. Reason being is because u can level up to get to those areas by playin the content in the other areas. During my playthrough I 100% every area of the map before I got to Alexandria. N I disagree with the whole overwhelming map too, I think all of their RPG styles games have it. But Origins def having the least of that feeling
Yeah Origins was cool it was the last Assassin’s Creed I’ve played. I wasn’t a fan of the RPG play style (it worked for Gow) but for Assassin’s Creed it took away from the core
i just bought the ezio collection, it was amazing, i then played ac3 and bought rogue as well as unity, i am planning to buy ac1 on ps3 and black flag, syndicate, and the ac3 remaster, however, i have decided not to play origins, odyssey, or valhalla
This is so true everything that he says I played odyssey, and I played Valhalla and this game. It is very hard you have to upgrade all the time, because if not, he will die so fast.
I mainly played ac for the story so I didn’t mind the gameplay change that much. If anything I viewed it as a fun mix but I was disappointed with ac odyssey
This game is pretty good but as for now I has a bug where at certain thing the game feezes and can only be played again after restart until the game freeze Again
I feel like there was never any ac games where combat was based on skillm especially the old one. Enemies telegraphed their attack and you hit the counter or block button.
Totally. I just started playing it, and I so wish assassins creed was like it. I feel like the combat does amazing at being both quick and challenging, while being fun. It's what I wish AC went with
Apart from the progressing system with the levels and the artificial lengthening of the games with nonsense missions I really enjoyed ac origins and odyssey
I prefer odyssey. It is less stressful for me. easy to use, inventory, even the ability upgrades. The graphics are better too and the attacks are faster. also I like that life and loot detections are easier for me too. And the ships are beeetter.
Lol I'm the opposite, just looking at the inventory in odyssey gives me a headache, you have different builds for stealth, combat and whatever else there is, you have tones of random weapons and items you pick up, you need tonnes of random materials and crystals to level everything up. It just confuses me. If I play the whole game I'd probably get used to it but the menu and abilities in origins were a lot more straightforward and a lot less grindy.
@@mjolnirbaldur5770 Just play it more and youll like it. For example, odyssey has ships, like huuuge and origin or valhalla have boats and I dont enjoy seeing them. also just the details are better like odyssey crew sings haha. maybe Im too softy about those cuz Im a woman but just try and reach higher level. with the crystals, ore, woods etc necessary for upgrades, theyre easy to get once your around level 30 cuz youll get high level items and quest that you can get more money to use to buy more materials for upgrades.
I liked Valhalla far more in every way. Not showered with useless gear every second, not rendering gear and gear classification useless, not a huge grind, less repetitive more densely packed, far better story, potentially good looking protagonist, darker tone, nice events while it lasted, better difficulty, better climbing, better combat...
I played the first phase of Assassin’s Creed(the original story) but never finished any of them. It feels bland for me. I’m kinda more into like Witcher style game(hack n slash RPG). Then this new Phase of Assassin’s Creed come out. Origin, Odyssey and Valhalla. I enjoyed them so much and played all(finished both Origin and Odyssey along with the whole DLCs, currently playing Valhalla). @@gri22lybear It is 100% worth playing, all 3 games are some of the best I have ever played
@@harrywood3829 I would’ve enjoyed the first one if not for it corrupting my save for no reason and losing all my progress. The only AC game to do that.
@@captainstu Thats peakkkkk. How far did you get?
The Hidden Ones dlc has one of the best outfits of the newer games and the Walls-Of-The-Ruler fortress is the most fun base clearing I’ve had in a long while.
The hidden ones was goated. I loved the roman forts like the wall of the fortress. Way bigger, way more guards to kill, way more loot and captains it was fun.
The Hidden Ones was actually a great DLC. I loved how it basically just amped the game up to 11
@@BruhMoment-1267 plus it was essentially the real start to the creed. Beyond just no finger and the hood.
This is the game in the series I stopped at unfortunately
Yeah origins is quite good and the stealth has some cool quirks that make it pretty fun despite not being as in depth.
Putting the AC name to that story really took a lot away from it
I agree 100% imagine the devs without being held back by that and other nonsense
I think if they combined the rpg and classic elements, that would be a masterpiece
Well the Mirage look like that
@st0lik575 mirage wasn't rpg it was a stealth just like classic
I loved Origins. The scenery was amazing. It was cool to climb all the pyramids and the sphinx. And also all the cities.
And also deals with Assassins and actually explores something people wanted to know about the lore like Amunet for example...
I think the story of assassin’s creed would have made an amazing movie
Good point on the linear aspect of the newer games. However, Odyssey, if you have the right gear and patience, gives you a higher chance of survival before it's too hard
By saying that rpg elements remove skill from combat you imply that you needed skill in the older games... Which you don't...like at all
You do, you've just been playing video games all your life. Hand it to a non gamer and they'll die in a few enemies no matter which older game. My partner likes to try games I'm into and they'll see me mow down 50 guys in ac 3 then struggle with 10.
@@jameer7565 lol I beat brotherhood when I was 10 years old
This game has hard enemies
The only skill you need is to know how to parry.
@@jameer7565that's called a learning curve lol, just because she didn't grasp the mechanics minute 1 doesn't mean they're endlessly complex or impossible for non-gamers to use. Once you figure out how to parry/counter, you've basically won the game already
Origins is still my favorite AC ❤
The feeling and World was the best so far
i think both old style assassins creed and new style AC are both good and they could go both ways and id not complain. like if they made the next one the older style ok then make the next one after that new style ok id be happy with them mixing it up both ways. And i own every AC except Valhalla, but its 15$ on xbox digitally right now and i think im about to have it too ❤
valhalla is a really grindy game if ur into that a lot bigger game than origins n odyssey
@@tstxf I dont mind grindy I kinda miss that about older games like ff7.
I never played the assassin's creed game before. But it will be my 1st time playing one being origins
Fair, I don't like grinding in Origins either
Even tho you are more level and gear depend than in older entries I found the combat to be much more challenging and entertaining. Even tho I loved the old games I think that the combat always felt a bit boring after a few hours.
Exactly! I’m currently doing a replay on hard mode where even one enemy can be a massive threat if I dont time my dodges and parries right. It gets tense when there’s 3 or more enemies shooting arrows and charging me. Where my dodges, parries, and spacing skills get truly put to the test!
But it still allows for stealthily taking over outpost in the true assassins creed style
Odyssey wasnt evwryones favorite, but they did fix the combat lineancy than Origins didnt provide. A lot of fights required more skill than good equipment. Equipment was just there to boost your playstyle.
The fact that Bayek never got a sequel will infuriate me "till I die. He was arguably the best main character since Ezio or Edward. ❤
I swear no one mentions the pain of having to do a bunch of side missions between main missions in origins
You don't have to do much to level up. Just killing and exploring in general gives you a bunch of xp. Like I hardly ever had to grind my way up a few levels to be on par with the mission, I'd naturally level up by just messing around exploring and killing everything that moves.
Side missions were awesome. Like discovering that someone still worships the target you killed really made the world feel dynamic
@@nenadmilovanovic5271 or you find the wife of your target and she kicks you in the balls for killing him. That mission was funny.
You can level up to 45 at the start of the game like you can play the story just fine
I swear you are just an idiot who doesn't know how to enjoy a good game.
The raw emotion is missing in other games. The shaking anger from the opening cutscene is unmatched
One of my fav AC for sure
Odyssey is the best ❤
Origins is the best in the series. Period. Who has the eyes to see sees it
I sure don’t.
I didn’t play Origins, but started with Odyssey and I think it’s fire. Reminds me of Shadow of Mordor. Can’t wait to beat it and get Valhalla and Mirage. I like this new direction they are taking. Just build on this..
Combat was not as flashy as the older games. But the gameplay is definitely better
For me origins was the first ac game I played so when I went back to play the others I was surprised how different they were
I honestly don't really agree with the skill aspect considering thats per player 😂. I had no skill issue because I focused purely on stealth. I think the game actually punishes you for not being stealth based. Sure you CAN go all out swords blazing but if you just take your time you'll realize the stealth route is the way
I kinda disagree on the "combat relies more on gear than skill."
Every AC's combat(exepct the RPGs and Unity) was the exact opposite of skill.
I loved origins, probably because I'm old, and it was more straight forward 👍.
This is one of the only AC games i haven't played, time to get it i guess
Origins was the best for the RPG focused games, but the controls with a controller need a face lift. Biggest reason why I can’t replay it
I think that part that kills me with the rpg games is sneak attacking only does bonus damage it doesn’t actually assassinate them unless your level and gear is high enough
I like riding in the endless sand in origins
Finishing Origins was a chore, i was more hooked by Odyssey, but youre right that its overwhelming.
After black flag origin was my most fav ac game
Still better than Rogue, Unity, Syndicate and Odyssey combined.
Rogue is ok and syndicate is pretty good, but I agree fck unity and odyssey.
I just got the gold version of this game for like 20 bucks. What a steal
The thing is that you can level up to 45 but just completely the first part of the story
My gf loves origins I love odyssey haha I explore the world more in that game and enjoy finding new things every day while she just enjoys Egypt 😂
Imagine dying because a level 89 ant touches you
Loved odyssey downloading origins rn !
I don't like RPG games but I enjoy playing ac origins and odyssey. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy Valhalla
I loved origin
I kinda liked Odyssey
I already forgotten Valhalla
Yeah Origins was cool it was the last Assassin’s Creed I’ve played. I wasn’t a fan of the RPG play style (it worked for Gow) but for Assassin’s Creed it took away from the core
i just bought the ezio collection, it was amazing, i then played ac3 and bought rogue as well as unity, i am planning to buy ac1 on ps3 and black flag, syndicate, and the ac3 remaster, however, i have decided not to play origins, odyssey, or valhalla
Unpopular opinion but Origins was my favorite AC game ever. I could spend hours exploring ancient Egypt.
Very popular opinion and is the right one
Its trash
I do gotta say ac black flag did have you upgrade your boat for certain mission but definitely was far from these rpg ones
Great review but you didn’t talk about the atmosphere/setting and story.
Best assassin's creed in my opinion
Im so late in the game that my last full assassin creed game was 2...i might just have to pick up the Ezio Trilogy
The beginning of the fall
This is so true everything that he says I played odyssey, and I played Valhalla and this game. It is very hard you have to upgrade all the time, because if not, he will die so fast.
I mainly played ac for the story so I didn’t mind the gameplay change that much. If anything I viewed it as a fun mix but I was disappointed with ac odyssey
As someone who has only played the rpg assassins creeds I have enjoyed all 3 without finishing any😂 I’m trying to beat Valhalla right now
This game is pretty good but as for now I has a bug where at certain thing the game feezes and can only be played again after restart until the game freeze Again
So I’m not the only one
I feel like there was never any ac games where combat was based on skillm especially the old one. Enemies telegraphed their attack and you hit the counter or block button.
oddsey was the best assassin's creed only one ive ever been able to beat
Wonderful Game I platinum this and wanted more.
Origins was exciting because of the pyramids and the maps and all until we got to Odyssey
idc i loved odyssey and would love to play it for the first time
Best AC game ever!
I have to re-installed it 5 times before I like this game because I'm afraid that it's going to waste my time like AC Syndicate
>Ubisoft tries something new with AC
>It turns out decent
>They try to replicate it but fail
Cycle repeats.
Bingo
My favorite.
I loved ac origins its my second ac game aside from Valhalla (ive played odessy origins valhalla and a little but of the second ac with ezio)
I loved origins
The Ghost of Tsushima, has blasted Assassin's Creed for good
Totally. I just started playing it, and I so wish assassins creed was like it. I feel like the combat does amazing at being both quick and challenging, while being fun. It's what I wish AC went with
I recently replayed and got the platinum trophy
If my ps4 controller didnt break i woud probably be playing this rn
When did the other ac games take any skill in combat besides knowing when to press 2 buttons
The only thing is, you kinda get bored with it sometime because of it being too massive and you can get drawn away of the main story because of this.
Bayek made the game for me
