CT9A chassis powered by a 4G63T 2.3L stroker, Holset turbo, Quaife 5-speed sequential and of course Haltech engine management. Leon's Evo started its life as a regular street car which he stripped and started modifying shortly after driving it home from the car yard. After years of modding and racing and modding again, the car is now ready to take on the big guns in the world of competitive time attack racing. We caught up with Leon while he was out testing his latest setup at Hampton Downs, New Zealand.
Man the comments are brutal. This really is a great car. Nice simple setup. It really is beneficial to slowly mod and enjoy every mod rather than throwing a bunch of parts at the same time on it. Just my take.
@@haltech Definitely will I have to get into social media, not a fan but If I can get more support with Instagram and Facebook I'm ready. Will do for sure! Representing Chicago baby! 👍
Would love to know who built that roll cage that is mentioned to keep him safe... just so i never get them to make a cage for me as those welds look very substandard
@@selektor2567 because they put six gears in a case that that was designed for five gears witch means less gear oil and it does not lubricate the gears and they warp and seize up once you start beating on them
The interview was done during an event at Hampton Downs, the music was coming from the PA so we didn't really have any choice as to what was being played.

I did not expect to see a Holset strapped to this!
Got my evo 8 running on a Haltech elite 1500 with NTK wb1 and ic7 dash! Car drives like stock but has lots of power! Love it

Thisnis the only good time attack build I've ever seen.
Very cool
Would you be open to share how to doe the wet sump setup I have a 1k hp evo and want to try your idea out first?

Intrax is dutch right?
What are these wheels called again?
Can some point me in the direction of the suspension used on this car ? Thank you ahead of time. Ct9a ftw!!!!
It's from a New Zealand suspension company called Maxi Trac Suspension
how much power is this car run at? how is the quaife holding up?
We believe it lays down approx 550kW. No problems with the Quaife at this stage.
3:29 link to this evo video plzz
Who's the bloke driving in the video?
That would be James, the guy that runs our New Zealand operations.
Ciao
Go billy Joel
Guy driving is sitting way too close to the steering wheel haha
Because it's not set up for him. James (who took the car for a spin in this video) is considerably larger than the car's owner and driver.
The 5 speed is a better trans
Why?
@@selektor2567 because they put six gears in a case that that was designed for five gears witch means less gear oil and it does not lubricate the gears and they warp and seize up once you start beating on them
Mike Baker i see. Is this the case with the Evo MR which came with a six speed?
@@selektor2567 yes alot of people do a 5 speed conversion on the mr for that reason
@@mikebaker6562 Would there be a way of idk fabbing a sump or lubrication system in to account for oil starvation?
Did I hear " We didn't start the fire" in the background? Seems a little inappropriate!
