I co-sign all the beautiful sentiments. I am a doctoral student and was struggling with the jargon and terminology. You explained this so well and I am way better with visuals. Being able to rewind and review is so helpful. I immediately purchased your book! I was shocked when someone complained about the price. I think most of us agree it's a steal! Gratitude and blessings! So happy my professor referred us to you!

Happy I studied philosophy as an undergrad. These ideas were drilled into my mind. Just remember this, everybody has a certain world view, that is, an ontological belief about realty (or something similar). From this world view, which may or may not even be something the person is conscious of, comes all sorts of beliefs about knowledge and truth.

What an excellent and compact video. If I may add, REALISM is almost the same as positivism. It is indeed better for analysis, because one is being objective. But in order to get a full understanding of many complex things, one needs to also use an Emish approach. Especially when dealing with political extreems, cultural aspects in order to answer the "why" questions.

Thanks Nurse Killiam! This was very helpful. I'm a doctoral student and wanted to get some of these concepts better understood and this video helped to make things much more understandable.

Well done. You might consider including a quick review of measurement scales for quantitative epidemiology (logical positivism and postpostivism). Also, by examining a research study’s conclusions it is possible to determine what kind of epidemiological stance the researcher has taken and whether their knowledge claims are warranted given the methodology they followed to arrive at those knowledge claims. Regardless of these suggestions, you have done an excellent job of summarizing critical issues that must be resolved in any research study.
