Since they were too caught up in the argument to strike obvious comedy gold, here's Daniel Gay-Lewis: "My straw stretches acrooooooss the room, and I DRINK YOUR SEMEN! I DRINK IT UP!"
Gotta check Nick's tone. This is high pitched Nick, which means it's early in the show when he was just coming off of his ponytail, phone selling, internet dweller days. You'll notice that in a lot of the pre 2018 episodes, Nick was super quick to argue in an internet-like style where he would focus on fallacies like strawmans. Something happened around the 2018 mark where he started talking in a deeper voice and focused less on arguments and current topics and focused more on bits and surreal, meaningless bullshit.
I thought, "Wasn't he in that shitty movie where he played a midget by kneeling and putting shoes under his knees?" Nope, Gary Oldman in Tiptoes. Now, I realize that Gary Oldman and Daniel Day Lewis are practically the same person in my head.
There's a shred of truth in Nick's take. DDL has quality projects to choose from because he's like a royal nepobaby. He's still very skilled at being an actor.
Honestly, Adam does not consistently apply his logic. He fails to consider the hypothetical that a DDL movie would be shitty if he wasn't so good. My Left Foot could have been I am Sam if DDL wasn't DDL. Also, I'm gay.
I’m with Nick on this. If anybody else put out the performances that DDL does nobody would have any problem calling it hilariously overacted, but people don’t criticize him because he’s an establishment favorite.
This suggests Fassbinder isn't, Fassbinder took to Hollywood faster and easier than DDL ever did, he's lent his name to so much crap no one remembers half of his work. I like Fassbinder but there's a reason critics and audiences alike think more of DDL
I don’t really care about the Fassbender part of their debate and didn’t say anything about it (although incidentally I do agree with Nick that he’s a better actor). Ultimately it doesn’t change the fact that DDL overacts the fuck out of everything he’s in. Nobody has any trouble calling out someone like Sean Penn when he hams it up pretending to be a retard in I Am Sam but for some reason DDL has had the luxury of coasting on egregiously scenery chewing performances for his entire career.
First and foremost, he earned that favouritism. Most folk believe DDL achieved that favouritism with his Academy Award winning performance in My Left Foot, in 1989. However, his performance in My Beautiful Laundrette, in 1985, sealed the deal because it takes place in Thatcherite London and he has gay sex with a Pakistani fella.
@@gripnsip3000 I've always thought Paul Thomas Anderson is an extremely overrated director in general but I agree that There Will Be Blood is uniquely awful because of DDL's involvement. At least something like The Master, while also a pretty bad film, has two good actors at its helm.
@@FiveFingerOutfit thats true. but ive seen most of them and he does play variations of same character over and over again. name a movie where he plays a very different character and ill watch it
@@dx315 funny. You actually chose the four movies i was thinking of. Can you not see how all four characters are basically the same person?. He plays them well but he just plays all of them as people with burning frustration with the world around them. Same with his character in "the name of the father" and the movie he stars in with his real life daughter (i think it is called jack and rose). And as john proctor, when the trial gets going and he is fighting for his life, he is really good, but at the beginning when it is trying to portray his fragile relationship with his wife, he absolutely sucks. The guy just plays frustration. The only movies where he plays completely different characters are in the unbearable lightness of being and the age of innocence and he feels slightly miscast in both movies.
So, were you guys born stupid or have you just suffered brain death watching this deal? You actually think DDL played Lincoln the same way he played Bill the Butcher? And he played Gerry Conlon the same way he played Christy Brown? And he played Hawkeye the same way he played Reynolds Woodchuck? Or maybe Daniel Plainview the same way he played Jack? ( the actress who played his daughter is not his real daughter. He has three sons) One of the man's great talents is his chameleon-like ability to go from a gay street punk to an Irish boxer. Go back to grade school guys. Your teacher is calling.
I'm with Adam on this one.
Nick has some good takes on cinema that are completely blindsided by his abysmal fucking takes like these
That’s Nick on a lot of subjects
Since they were too caught up in the argument to strike obvious comedy gold, here's Daniel Gay-Lewis: "My straw stretches acrooooooss the room, and I DRINK YOUR SEMEN! I DRINK IT UP!"
They did this bit on another ep. The clip is called "Nick's mental decline" or something like that.
@@Avengerie Well shit, nevermind.
Semen is basically dick oil. Texas tea.
Nice dude
Nick is now outsourcing his +$200k/yr very easy job to the collective subconscious of his listenership.
The bug is right on this one
choosing the right role is kinda part of being a good actor, so im with babyadam on this one
It’s moments like these that remind me just how much Nick is secretly threatened by Adam that he will defend a point he knows is wrong
DDL is way better than Leo in Gangs of New York. DDL steals every scene he’s in and Leo fucking ruins every scene he’s onscreen
Dicaprio can only play characters closest to himself. Histrionic acting and thinks shouting is real talent.
Nick is both the best and absolutely worst part of the podcast. He can be such a massive child.
Nick is just jealous that he didn't star in a movie called Phantom Spread.
Daniel Day Lewis is good when he has direction that keeps the scenery chewing in check
but am I gay, you ask? you better believe it
100% Nick would agree with Adams take if anyone else said it.
I’m definitely with Adam
He's so jealous
Nick is contradicting the hell outa himself here
DDL was INCREDIBLY good in Gangs of New York. And Fasbinder was awesome in Xmen
Death to America
How bout Daneil Day-Jewish?
Daniel Gay Jewish
@@ryanbates362 and there it is
@@Kaizoku_apex I just commented that
And he’s gay and Chinese
one of nick’s most outlandish takes
By his own logic, DDL was phenomenal in gangs of new york, which nick thinks is a shitty movie
Nick is literally holden caulfield from cathcer and the rye
nick always gotta turn everything into a fight, why that boy so angry?
You'd be mad too if you were 4'9"

Hearing the boys say Gangs of NY sucks is absolutely devastating
DDL is incredible in Gangs of New York. Nick is off the mark here.
I thought, "Wasn't he in that shitty movie where he played a midget by kneeling and putting shoes under his knees?" Nope, Gary Oldman in Tiptoes. Now, I realize that Gary Oldman and Daniel Day Lewis are practically the same person in my head.
I mean who the fuck hasn't seen There Will Be Blood? Personally I'm shocked.
The kind of riveting intellectual inquiry Cumtown is known for.
Very straight take from Nick. DDL is better. Also im gay
Daniel Gay-Blewhim
I love gangs of new york. It's a little goofy but DDL as Bill the Butcher was incredible
Adam wins. No contest.
Bill the Butcher kicked ass, he was infinitely better than Leo in that
1:26 i love their disagreement here LOL I like hearing both sides
Idk was Michael Jordan good when he was in the dream team? Or just gay
There's a shred of truth in Nick's take. DDL has quality projects to choose from because he's like a royal nepobaby. He's still very skilled at being an actor.
DDL was in "Nine" or whatever, that one stunk
Nick is out of his mind
DDL is a legend
Isn't Nick short in height? Also I'm gay.
Yeah he is tiny
still more successful than you’ll ever be lol
Guy who said DDL was terrible in gangs of New York instantly lost all credibility
Cool Adam is right
Nicks coked up rant
I'm with Stav on this one.
Adam is 1000% right in this one
Nick following in suit with his self loathing by choosing to dislike the clearly far superior actor simply because he looks like himself.
What about Daniel Gay Luis
“Shame” made me a Michael Fassbender fan
Gay Actor Michael Assbender
For once, I actually fuck with the bug on this one. tWBB is the tits, I watched it 40 times this month
I’m gay
im with the bug killer on this one
What about Adam Gay-Jewis
The bug is right
Gary Oldman, DUH!
Die hard DDL fans forgetting the loved him because Nick doesn’t. I am gay.
Tell me, Mr. Anderson, what good is medical liberty if you are unable to work? 😯
I’m with addie pretty hard on this one
two Irish actors yup the lads
Nick hasn’t seen DDL in his mediocre movies
Daniel Gay Lewis
Nicks wrong
Honestly, Adam does not consistently apply his logic. He fails to consider the hypothetical that a DDL movie would be shitty if he wasn't so good.
My Left Foot could have been I am Sam if DDL wasn't DDL. Also, I'm gay.
True, boxer was a mediocre movie but it would have been a turd without ddls phenomenonal performance
Theyre fucking nutts. DDL is the best actor of this generation
Daniel Brainview
How about DDSL ans he's got big juicy lips
Fassbinder phoned in the later X-Men movies, he's given more poor performances than daniel
Gangs of New York did suck though
Nick has a good point in saying fassbender is better
Hahahah fassbender
X-Men first class was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, and I've seen at least as many movies at stav
Dude that movie rocks cock
Have some class Nick with differentiating opinions, Adam is a nie (short for weenie) but he is right, also I'm gay
Gangs of NY is a shitty movie with a descent DDL performance... Exactly what Nick says it isn't, in other words
Nick has subhuman levels of intelligence here
Daniel day pretty much made gangs of new york, Leo sucked in it.
Michael Fassbender is mediocre at best!
Typical Adam L
