Double wax totally works ok. It didn't/doesn't leak. Just warm it up under water and push the two together to make it thicker and it'll work A OK just like the old school plumber did it in this vid.

Yeah we all know it isn’t the right thing to do…but the extension kits aren’t always easy to find…and sometimes a guy just needs to s**t.

Extension ring kits go inside the piping diameter lessening flow. The double wax ring seems like the way to go if done correctly. Other than that, id just replace the flange completely and fix it , than block the water flow with an extension ring.

Ha we had that same American Stsndard tub and floor color, wish i had restored it. Still have blue sink hard parts to find for repairs, faucet parts 70 years old

I did a lot of that when I was young, 25 years ago. I kind of feel bad about it.. But back then I just do any better. Never got any complaints, but I'm sure some of them failed.

A single horned wax ring with a plain ring under it is fine in most situations but is not ideal
