Maybe dodge is under rating the trx or roush is slacking. Roush is limited to emission legal tuning hence the 650hp cap when running pump 91-93 given the displacement of the engine. The coyote engine is capable of much higher numbers on e85. But fair is fair, it not only lost it got its ass handed to it... No whine here, just an educated ford fan.

Easy. Gen 3 Coyotes has more knock sensor bosses in the valley leaving less space for an intercooler core, hence all blowers were design inverted (rotors down, intercooler up) expect for roush. So it has an inefficient design pair with a very very very conservative tune. Power is just a small part of the equation. Transmission tuning and torque management also makes a huge difference. Throw that roush out put a Gen 5 Whipple or an Odin and bye bye TRX.
Roush owner here! Thanks again Sam and Jamie! I was genuinely surprised with the results. Clearly the TRX is quicker. That said, by the time we started filming, I could tell the supercharger heat soak was taking its toll on the Roush. We had a quick run before filming and we ran door to door. I was quite surprised once we got going how slow the truck was performing. But again, clearly the TRX is quicker. It was a super fun day and Sam has an awesome channel. Yea, I saw a "750 hp" Shelby Super Snake F150 lose decisively to the much heavier TRX with "702 hp" on TFL. Unless both the super snake and Roush F150s are not making their claimed hp the TRX must be underrated.
A higher hp rating will make a causal person believe that vehicle is quicker. So I believe they underrated it to keep Ford from shooting for say 800hp if the TRX was rated at 797hp like a Redeye hellcat
Someone actually used torque reserve!!! (That funny exhaust note on the TRX). You can build up to 4psi for launch but it’s finicky and pushes past the brakes around 3psi for me. Great runs and thank you Sam!!!
In my experience, the modified Fords never actually perform like the power says it should be. For example, the Super Snake Mustang claims 825hp, but really feels like 650 at best. I knew the TRX was gonna win, Dodge did a great job on that truck. It actually makes the hp it's supposed to haha.
Yeah roush and Shelby American (not gt500s) modified vehicles never perform the way they should. A stock gt500 would wipe the floor with a Shelby super snake despite having less power

I know something had to be up. The Roush has a better power weight ratio being it weighs 1550 less and makes only 50 hp to the crank less than the TRX. If you subtract 1550 lbs from the trx curb weight, while subtracting 155 hp to the trx hp figures (to make it fair), the Roush should've won but it didn't. TRX weighing in at about the same as the Roush, now making 550 hp, vs the 650 in the Roush. It either doesn't put power down efficiently or Ford is underrating their numbers.
My ears still hurt from that day. The only advantage with blow out drag videos is seeing the puffy white clouds and endless sky. Great stuff as usual. Ryan droppin those hands REAL quick at his flagman post haha!

lll Gotten Gains no bro its the way they setup the trx to run. Did you see their math in the center console 😂. Its very well explained and under the hood more. But its the setup technically. From a dead stop the traction the perfect launch control button they have in it. The power. Awd etc the 8 speed. All that acheives better launch and to quarter mile times. If was a roll race say at 50 or something it wouldnt be the same it would lose it's potential from the wieght. Jeep trackhawks are the same launching they Will always be quick it potential is set for drag. Roll races isn't the same. But if you made more power than that changes 😂 for example some dudes channel i forgot their names. They had done a video from durango srt vs jeep srt and Lamborghini suv and did a dead stop race and the durango was the fastest followed by the jeep and then the lambo. But once they did some roll races the lambo would jump ahead but that extra small amount of power on the durango barely edged off the lambo.
Some dyno runs show the engine closer to the power of a hellcat (around 717 hp), so it's a little underrated. But a lot of it is transmission tuning + a good balanced rear end ratio + 4wd and big ass tires.
I just love how everyone has to compare a MODIFIED vehicle against the Dodges. Same goes for the Durangos always being compared to MODIFIED Explorers. Just do a stock/stock comparison, but they can't because they will lose everytime.

That Roush supercharger is the biggest factor in the race for sure. It is very inefficient. If the F-150 had a Whipple it would be a whole different situation. Props to the Ram for being as quick as it is stock though.

The base Raptor couldnt hang which is why the Raptor R was developed to dethrown it. It also accomplishes it with an even smaller 2.65L blower.

I have a 2020 roush and it only made 519 rwhp which equals around 600 at crank, there are other ones on youtube making the same numbers so the 650hp is bs by roush but props to the trx that thing is a beast for sure

It's pretty simple really. The supercharger on the Roush is really an inefficient design. Different supercharger on the Ford and it will be a completely different result.
TRX also has much shorter gears. I ran one on the hwy here in TX from a 50 in my 14' Mustang GT. He held his own until I shifted into 3rd. Then I took him to gapplebees in 3rd and 4th! That TRX is a crazy fast truck for its size, but that Roush blown f-150 is trash on a factory tune and converter!!
Please do the k5 GT ,vs the 22 Kia stinger GT line !!! They have the same engine but the stinger supposedly has 10 more Hp 🤔 really looking at either or for my next car and this will help me decide lol

I went into this thinking it would be the exact opposite outcome because of that reason alone. Looking at the power to weight I'm not sure how the TRX won.
The TRX is quicker 0 to 60 by almost a half second in reviews I have seen even though it is rated pretty even to the Roush. Also this is a 21 TRX. The Shelby 21 is sporting 775 BHP. It should be a different race running two SC 21”s
Before I watch it I’m going to guess the Ford with it’s almost 2k pound lighter difference and almost comparable hp and tq is going g to smoke the trx. But looks wise as their appearance today before a mods id take the trx Edit: wow I’m surprised I thought with that weight advantage the Ford was winning and I’m a mopar guy. The laws of physics says the vehicle with the better power/weight ratio will win. Ignoring these laws the heavy TRX still beats the Roush F150 disregarding physics all together.
The torque curve of a supercharged 5.0 ford coyote motor is typically not optimal. A gt500 or even 03 04 cobra with increased boost has more low end tq.
Has is hitting $7/gallon and they said if you could afford the truck, had prices don't bother you...NOT. My trx hits 7 MPG on fun modes and the ladies at my local gas stations thinking I'm stalking them lol

Gen 3 Roush blower is known to be kind a dud of a blower, 2000lbs more in the TRX as well really shows the inefficiency of the Roush.

Mopar has always underrated their HP for insurance purposes, Or does that really make a difference anymore.

There’s a race of the TRX vs that already. It’s a two door truck way lightee the TRX lost in the roll race but Ford better make the Raptor R really fast or it be a dud just like those modified f150s

Nice trucks. But with about a 1500 lbs weight difference and only down 50 HP , the F150 did terrible and it has a 10 speed.

I have had a roush tune before on my mustang 5.0 2.3tvs the power delivery wasn't good and neither were the shifts. Trx sounds good and moves well

I went into this thinking it would be the exact opposite outcome because of that reason alone. Looking at the power to weight I'm not sure how the TRX won.

The TRX is quicker 0 to 60 by almost a half second in reviews I have seen even though it is rated pretty even to the Roush. Also this is a 21 TRX. The Shelby 21 is sporting 775 BHP. It should be a different race running two SC 21”s
Before I watch it I’m going to guess the Ford with it’s almost 2k pound lighter difference and almost comparable hp and tq is going g to smoke the trx. But looks wise as their appearance today before a mods id take the trx

There are some full bolt on CCs NA that would put up a better fight if not beat it.
The torque curve of a supercharged 5.0 ford coyote motor is typically not optimal. A gt500 or even 03 04 cobra with increased boost has more low end tq.
