It's that it's a confined area. Confined areas give a nice cozy feel, in addition to being able to be much more polished and full of soul compared to open worlds.
Definitely. It was so much darker and atmospheric and oppressive. They're all great games but they never quite have that dark vibe to them. I mean, in Asylum, Batman's face is literally almost always covered in shadow haha. It gave him a really cool mysterious otherworldly vibe. The other games make him much more personable.
Now do this, but with intensive treatment ambience from the inside, i loove the ventilation sounds of deep wind and random old machinery working away or listening to steam flow through pipes down the walls
Arkham Asylum is so special. The atmosphere, the music, environment etc. Its definitely the scariest of them all. I remember having nightmares I would often dream about that one place up on the roof of Arkham Mansion (you can see it on screen here almost at the middle) that area behind the garden. Some dreams of ghosts and shadows going after me and hearing noises lol I don't do drugs or any of that stuff but idk just the atmosphere of the game impacted me that I had dreams about it. Crazy stuff. Developers nailed it with this game. I just way prefer the combat system in later Arkham games. The combat feels quite limited in this one compared to later ones where you could do more moves, hit the opponents when they were down etc.
The fact that this game creeps us out due to the sheer intensity that the thugs bring to the table along with their iron wills to take down the bat, little do they know the bat is the scariest thing in the night, I love the intensity and creepiness this game brings, truly my favorite atmosphere
Best game ever batman Arkham asylum, soundtracks ,game play ,story, challenge map, villains I really really love the part of game play intro at the very beginning when he walk with joker and meet up with crock
The asylum atmosphere is just different, maybe because of the rain, but it gives me like a comfort sensation, like i live in Gotham and feel safe because i know Batman is out there protecting me, y’know?
A trip down the memory lane... This atmosphere, ambience is impeccable, one of the reasons why we Arkham fans love these games so much. Personally, my absolute favorite part starts at 18:53, when we walk through those caves and soon after we hear Joker mixing some chemicals. I still get chills from that part, so eerie...brmmph. Love it!
This is awesome! Truly brings back the memories en therefore the nostalgia. It was in 2009 I played the game for first time, rightly after it's release. Finally I experienced how it felt to be the Dark Knight, fighting against his arch nemesises. My favourite part was when you had to take down Joker's henchmen one by one while Joker used the aylum's intercom in order to tease his men. "Is anyone feeling a little stressed down there? Your heart racing? Well, get a grip and stop the Bat or I'll fix your blood pressure. Permanently."
I’ve only just started playing this series. Finished Asylum and City, now moving onto Knight and then Origins. I see why everyone loves these games so much. Idc I didn’t get to play this series until I was nearly 30, so worth it!
One of my best gaming experiences, you could feel the passion they had when creating this masterpiece. So sad to see how the industry has declined, it’s nearly impossible that there will ever be games like this anymore.
I played the demo back in 2010 when I was 13 years old and just never bought it. A few days ago I found a copy my girlfriend forgot about and thankfully I still have my ps3 because im now playing it finally! Definitely worth it
I actually thought about doing that, such a creepy little moment in the game. I wish I added it to my botanical gardens ambient, suppose I could do another one...
This would legit be a horror game if Batman wasn't there. You're in an asylum with crazy murderers. All the "professional" guards are dead. There's A cannibal crocodile man. A scarecrow guy who causes his victims to see things that aren't there. A mass murderer who cuts himself snd kills for pleasure. And Joker.
@@MadManMicruhwayvehow much would you pay for a high effort accurate to a T real life recreation of arkham island and arkham asylum that's a tourist attraction in which you're taken to the asylum and are chased by the inmates?
Awesome ambience music of DC: Batman- Arkham Asylum. Hopefully they make more like this music video for next Arkham series (Continuation, prequel, and spin-offs). Also, it would be cool to have an ambience for the DC Comics: Arkham Asylum comic series that inspired the game and comic series that continues and ties-in with the games too.
In my opinion maybe they are gonna come up with something in the DLCs or something like that. Because as I think maybe they are all alive (WW questionable) somewhere with remaining Brainiac's in other dimension or something like that. Or maybe we gonna get a chance to play some prequel to this as justice league...
Rest in Peace Kevin, you will always be THE Batman.

There is something different in Asylum atmosphere
Ah, you know, there’s something about this games atmosphere that just makes me want to play it in the dark and feel creeped out, ya know?
The *dooo do do dooo* sound in asylum when they try to say something and it's like a ring. That has to be my favorite and most nostalgic batman sound.
"Arkham intercom chime"
It actually is. Its one of the few sounds thats always stuck with me since playing this game. Even set it as my notification sound at one point
I always found that intercom chime very eerie and haunting, while you are wandering around the Arkham Asylum.
i havent played since it launch in 2009 and i know exactly what your talking about xD
I love the chime, reminds me of the great time I had playing it through.
I have very fond memories of playing this game as a teen, the atmosphere of the asylum was just perfect. I wish I could go back to those happier days.
Yesss, exactly. And the remastered one, with those rain sounds, it's creepier and creates a better atmosphere. I love this game.
I tried to fall asleep at this but it just makes me paranoid and alone can’t believe how much this game still effects me
Wdym? Has it affected you in a bad way? I personally loved the creepy vibes

What a BEAUTIFUL game. In my personal experience, this is THE Batman game/series. Atmosphere: 10/10
One of the best ambience / study mixes I ever came across.

It's that it's a confined area. Confined areas give a nice cozy feel, in addition to being able to be much more polished and full of soul compared to open worlds.
