No one mentioned this in the comments below, but it seems important: you throw a hawk like a BOSS! I'm super impressed with the sheer number of times you nailed your throws. Nice work. -Ben
Bought this hawk a year ago and after testing it out it was a welcomed addition to my BOB. Alongside a leatherman and a TOPS brothers of bushcraft knife it completed my tools. Only thing I did differently was using paracord instead of electrical tape to secure the head. Also own 3 varieties of SOG hawks and an mtech hawk which are are good for other applications but for bushcraft/survival this one is far superior. Love this thing and would recommend it.
I have a woods chogan and love the way it handles. Splitting is not good for big wood but will split small wood fine. I have cut 10" diameter trees down and trimmed them. Its always fun work.
Every time I watch your reviews/demos, I keep the description minimized and guess the cost of the item you're reviewing, and i'm glad to say that I'm usually wrong about the prices. Some of the pieces your showcase LOOK expensive due to the quality and function, but they're far from it. Case in point, this T-hawk. I was thinking to myself "Damn, that thing looks beautiful...I want one! But it's probably like $150 or something." WRONG! I really want one now. Thanks a ton for your constant showcasing of budget friendly blades for people like me that can't drop triple digit amounts of money on awesome blades!
I'm trying to decide between this one and the Cold Steel Spike Hawk. Most likely going to go with this one. I like the hickory handle and the finish of the metal.
This tomahawk is on the heavy side and the one I got came with a very loose handle. I replaced the handle, at my own expense because CRKT and SMKW offered a warranty return only, and now keep it in my garage as a garden tool
I have the CRKT Kangee T-Hawk. Love it. This one is the CRKT Woods Kangee T-Hawk. I have one coming in the mail now. Good review. Nice throwing, even though we didn't get to see your style. :-)
I've been patiently waiting for a decent review of these RMJ designed hawks, your review was ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. As always, great vid. Thank you for posting it. Now the real question remains, not about quality but of which one do I get first or do I just admit my addiction and buy both now ?
Thanks! I usually like a hammer end on a hawk, however the Woods Kangee is slightly broader than the Woods Chogan, so the Woods Kangee does split a better.
How would you compare them to cold steel's line of hawks? I have only had the cs Norse hawk, I'm looking for a hawk with a hammer side as well as a blade side.
I touch them up with my Work Sharp, it is a hand held electric sharpener, I've done a review and some vids featuring it. It requires a light touch and some practice (so as not to grind away too much), but it is great for large but cheap items like machetes or some hawks. It can even be used to put an edge on machetes or cheap hawks that do not come with any edge at all.
So i'm looking for a new ax, not sure if you have heard/seen the upcoming Birler axes and i'm considering one of those but, the Kangee looks promising. On a scale from 1-10 how would you recommend the Kangee.
I own the Chogan and like it. I have never understood why the spike exists on a hawk like this. What is more likely 1) that you will be in hand-to-hand combat or need an "entry tool"; or 2) that you will need a hammer? I'm NOT saying don't buy the Kangee. I just don't personally get it.
Hey, I can maybe help shed some light on the uses of this... For a lot of us this hawk is common tool taken into the back country and that spike, or what I would refer to as a pick, serves quite a few uses for us. It can be used for digging up and into tough earth, or as lumberjack pick "pickaroon", carving tool (bushcrafting), etc. I carry these style hawks from woods of our private land, to hiking, to trips out in the BWCA, and I can say it's nice to have that pick on the end sometimes. Hope this helps man! Also, I fully agree with you on the self defense part. Plus, it would take a lot of training to wield the spike end proficiently, imo.
Very good review, thank you! I would love to see a review made by you for the CRKT FE9 knife. Sensei A.J. Advincula talks about it in the ''Long Form Training'' TH-cam video but I cannot find any reviews for it anywhere. Greedings from Athens, Greece!
As you say, there is a stunning lack of reviews on that knife, it seems very much off the radar. I offered to review it for them, and the Redemption knife, too.
May I say, you have an amazing throw. Even if you took out some missed throws the ones you did succeed at were amazing, you are ready for the apocalypse my friend xD
Hey fella how are ya now?? Ive got this bad boy as well. Its fucking awesome!!! I love the thing, the death spike on the back is fantastic and would take down any and all comers! I have been looking for a longer shaft to pair with it, i've hit my shoulder with the spike a few times coming back with it while practicing fighting, so it warrents some sort of shoulder protection to not injure yourself if using it as a weapon. But as a wood chopper its second to very few!
+ankush bhakhri Thanks dude for the suggestion, they dont have it though. The owners a good friend of mine, i've pretty much paid her mortgage for the last couple of years, with all the stuff ive bought from her, lol, so ill ask her to get it in for me. I did get the 'Death spike' version that he shows here, at Cabela's, so ill ask them if they can get in the hammerhead for me. They're pretty good to their customers and at trying to get stuff in for you if you ask. They've done it for me b4 now.
Robert Watson That was apparently a common viking tactic, the skeg axe had a hook for just that reason also, and like you said, and any 'death spike' you have on your axe or whatever weapon really (some spears and most bills have hooks for dismounting riders, or for the same tactic as we're discussing) can be used for the same thing. Pulling down or flipping up a guys shield that way and attacking him with the blade then was another quite common tactic, or so I've read anyway.......
Im not too sure about this one... the SOT didn't give it's approval. Lol! JK! That is an awesome hawk man! Probably my favorite on all your hawk reviews, excellent job!
wow this is one nice looking tomahawk if this product can be Buys in Belgium than i buy it and ps a super great video greetings from a belgian fan and subcriber
Say Heah Is, Maybe I don't use my Tomahawk as much, When I go on hikes, scout new area's, etc. I got used to my Hatchets, Some of the things I do is build, fire, etc. So I like compact, But with most tools, the weight plays a big part in making short work of processing wood for instance. But I do have a very good sufficient Tomahawk, I don't need technical as much as a bush craft tool, I think Devin Price had quarter ingredients game in mind, But the three edge design bits deep into wood and extracts easier because of it, His work to me is art, I think my 2Hawks Warbeast is a beauty, although I tend to use my 17" Hultafors Bruks Agdor Hatchet the most because of its compact size and I can carry it in my Axe Holster Eugene made me at reviewsog.com, But recently, Infact prolly starting tomorrow or Wednesday, I'm going to start using my G. B. Small Forest Axe since the two are similar in weight, But the S. F. A. is about 2 1/2" longer in the haft. When I'm maneuvering in heavy brush, I don't like snagging up on things, So that's why my Agdor became one of my Fav,'s. But surprisingly my 2Hawks Warbeast is lite and a great chopper for its size, I just got so use to my hates that sometimes I simply forget my Hikes, Thanx for sharing one. ,, .
my crkt kangee arrived here in england this morning. the only thing american on this axe is the hickory handle. made in taiwan. you don't tell people that. the only thing american on this axe is the handle, and that's debateable. all my tools are english sheffield steel or swedish steel. i have some old axes that were made in america. i bought this axe believing it was made in the U.S.A. chinese steel is shite. i'm a retired engineer and metallurgist. can't you make tools anymore. disapointed.
+John James McCartney Well, does your new CRKT do what you want it to or not? It definitely could be made in the USA, but most of us aren't willing to pay 2-3 times the price for one.
No one mentioned this in the comments below, but it seems important: you throw a hawk like a BOSS! I'm super impressed with the sheer number of times you nailed your throws. Nice work. -Ben
Thanks, Ben, this is a fun hawk in all ways!
Great video and a grey product by CRKT.
Bought this hawk a year ago and after testing it out it was a welcomed addition to my BOB. Alongside a leatherman and a TOPS brothers of bushcraft knife it completed my tools. Bad ass review, the pommel would be more effective version for me but for entry man that thing is bad ass.
Wow, CRKT has really been stepping it up lately.
I have a woods chogan and love the way it handles. Splitting is not good for big wood but will split small wood fine. I have cut 10" diameter trees down and trimmed them. Its always fun work.
Such a beautiful weapon. Great review.
Great review. Have you tried out the full tang version ?
I wish I had straight grain wood like that. Thanks for the review.
you got some deadly aim bro nice work

I'm trying to decide between this one and the Cold Steel Spike Hawk. Most likely going to go with this one. I like the hickory handle and the finish of the metal.
"That is some strong geometry"
This is very reminiscent of old fireman axes very nice the design
Thanks for your content!
This tomahawk is on the heavy side and the one I got came with a very loose handle. I replaced the handle, at my own expense because CRKT and SMKW offered a warranty return only, and now keep it in my garage as a garden tool
Yeah this is a lot heavier than traditional hawks, this is more like hawk for hatchet duties.
I have the CRKT Kangee T-Hawk. Love it. This one is the CRKT Woods Kangee T-Hawk. I have one coming in the mail now. Good review. Nice throwing, even though we didn't get to see your style. :-)
hi there when are you going to do a review on your ex gurkha khukuri house usmc knife
Wow, Pine is a hard target to get a hawk to stick to. I have a Sog Tactical Tomahawk and I get so mad every time it bounces off of Pine
Can one pls tell me the difference between a t-hawk and a axe?
Monster spliter! Wasn't expecting it to split those huge chunks in one go haha, great hawk for sure!
Crazy back spike as well
Does the tape help keep the head from slipping down the shaft?
How thick are the planks on the pallet? Looks like they gave the axe some trouble
Great work on video mate love your throwing skills
Thank you!
i just bought one yesterday for $24.48 im in love with it. its not left my side since i got it
samuraigrand masta where are you people buying it so for cheap from?! I can only find amazon for over 60
samuraigrand masta where are you people buying it so for cheap from?! I can only find amazon for over 60
Beautiful traditional design
yeah smashing stuff lol sweet footage man nice throwing
What is the black thing under the head of the hawk? Did you put that on it?
Art USMC That is some electrical tape to prevent the head from getting dislodged during throwing.
WeAllJuggleKnives
Thanks, sounds like a good idea. Just rec'd my Chogun hawk yesterday.
I just ordered two yesterday lol, thanks for the vid
You'll like it!
Look nice
You should upload a vid where you dual wield and go berserk *****.
and i hope i win it in your giveaway Tac hehehe :P
That entire collar is E tape?
yes

That is one cool hawk!
No idea how much I want these
Would you reccomend this over fhe woods chogan?
*the
garrett louge This is a little more powerful than the Chogan. But the Chogan's hammer is pretty useful. So it depends what you want it for.
Nice video Sir!
How would you compare them to cold steel's line of hawks? I have only had the cs Norse hawk, I'm looking for a hawk with a hammer side as well as a blade side.
These are more heavily built than most of them, they would be most similar to the Rifleman's Hawk (which is Cold Steel's heaviest tomahawk).
That looked fun bro! 🤟🏾💙🔥💯
How do you go about sharpening your hawks? I have been looking for a good method.
I litterally bought one because I watched this vid and I mean man this thing is a killer
Congrats on getting a fine tomahawk!
So i'm looking for a new ax, not sure if you have heard/seen the upcoming Birler axes and i'm considering one of those but, the Kangee looks promising. On a scale from 1-10 how would you recommend the Kangee.
+Sava'ge At least a 7!
Is the beard sharpened on that thing?
Arctodus Simus No it's unsharpened on this and on the Woods Chogan, too.
I like the Chogan better, too. I do use the spike on this to accidentally shred my pant leg and my jacket sometimes LOL

Appears effective.
Awesome review! What do you think of the TRAMAhawk from Zombie Tools?
Looks cool, but, a six week wait time? DO YOU KNOW WHAT COULD HAPPEN IN SIX WEEKS? LOL.
That is true bro Lol, I am surprised that ZT has not sent you any products to review.
What is the coating on the head?
Dude looks and feels like kind of like hammerite but I'm not sure. It turns golden if you expose it to fire
Very good review, thank you!
I would love to see a review made by you for the CRKT FE9 knife. Sensei A.J. Advincula talks about it in the ''Long Form Training'' TH-cam video but I cannot find any reviews for it anywhere.

Great idea with the wooden pallet lol you must of been so sick of picking up the stumps of wood and stacking them just about every time.
May I say, you have an amazing throw. Even if you took out some missed throws the ones you did succeed at were amazing, you are ready for the apocalypse my friend xD
Max Ross Thanks!
Very cool, I want one.
I want one pretty bad but can't justify it since I have a ColdSteel.
Nice choppin'.
It seems it's more like a chopping axe than tomahawk :P
Very impressive hawk thanks for sharing/ reviewing it.
Ahhh the pallet of truth to add support to the stump of truth target
I'd hate to be the zombie that charges you when you're throwing that thing. Good review, hombre!

I cant find the hammer head one anywhere around where i live. Ive looked.
+Richard Morrey I got the hammer version at my local military surplus store
+ankush bhakhri Thanks dude for the suggestion, they dont have it though.

Taiwanese steel is actually quite good... Seriously man, just be happy to have a good axe.
John James McCartney Chineese steel? This is hot forged from 1055. Its a very good axe steel.
You're a badass!
Thanks!
