One of my favorite childhood memories was at my uncle's farm in Ohio, where we watched what they called, "Heat Lightning". We all stood there, watching the show, for about an hour. I've never seen such a display, in person, since.

Just so happens that i had a lightning strike right next to me on the highway in the field on a rainy day in denver CO (it was a friday)
Even the tumbleweeds like Pecos Hank!
All is right with the world when Hank uploads a 4K time-lapse. The icing on the cake would be those red sprites!
Mesmerizing. I could (and will) watch that in a loop until I fall asleep listening to that glorious thunder all night in my dreams. You make my world a better place, Hank.

What is a sprite?
David Their like mini aurora borealis’s. They appear above thunderstorms cause of electrical discharges. Hard to see, rare too, but quite amazing when it actually occurs.

Man, I remember that storm after it dropped those tornados near McCook, NE. That was the most spectacular lightning show I've seen!

Hank you did it again! With a bonus sprite as well. It is insanely dense lightning at 39 seconds when you break out of time lapse. This is the best storm sequence you’ve done yet! Keep catching those sprites and some day we will have a complete science-based explanation for them.

I live in Buffalo NY and we get on average 3 or 4 thunderstorms a year. The amount of lightning you see in 30 seconds, in this video, I don't even see in an entire year! Seeing this video blows my mind.
in england we've been having some thunderstorms at last, but nothing like this.

Problem is lightning is pretty unreliable most of the time, too random and inconsistent to utilize effectively.

Find a safe way to protect yourself from a rogue positive strike from a distance, there’s not much better imo than watching as the lightning moves along the horizon like this. Very very mesmerizing, to say the least.
