Chinese D-Day? Type 071 Amphibious Transport Docks Everywhere!

The Type 071 is a class of amphibious assault ship in the PLA Navy, with the NATO reporting name, the Yu-Zhao class. This is an amphibious transport dock, also known as a landing platform dock, or LPD. The LPD’s purpose is to transport and land part of a marine landing force into a warzone by sea, primarily by using special landing crafts.
Type 071 LPD should provide strong amphibious capabilities in any geographic locations that the PLA Navy is likely to be concerned about. That said, like all amphibious assault ships, the Type 071 will require the support of a protective ring of anti-air and ASW assets.
