Thats incredible! In 04', i was three sitting on my dads lap drooling on his keyboard making a fuss eveytime he tries to play and i want his attention. Now im 17 and now more than ever, since i watched my dad play in 2004, i want to get that classic experience. I do enjoy the content today but i understand that for some, it wasnt the same. And i want to live that experience with my friends and my dad in OLD AZEROTH!!!😭😭

you realize how much quality of life functions are missing from classic wow right? the game's attraction is hinged on the sweet scent of nostalgia which was thought to be forever lost in the memories, but all that interest dies the moment people realized you can access the most unbalanced, broken and painful wow experience in all its years. it is almost as though players have forgotten how imbalanced classes were, and how much time and effort it actually took to level.

I remember our guild pulling the devilsaur from Un'goro to Crossroads. There was already a raid going on (crossroads was ALWAYS being raided) and we just rocked up with a T-Rex in tow. Those were the things that made WoW. When players actually made content for themselves. When they brought the world to life by interacting with each other rather than just shitposting in Trade waiting for LFR to proc.
The amount of nostalgia and emotion when this finally happens is going to be intense. Great comment, there will be plenty of those memories left! It's not the end, but it's the rebirth of memories!

The biggest controversy Blizzard faced back then was their handling of amateur-made 'WoW Vanilla' servers, which people enjoyed but Blizzard cracked down on. Not to mention, he was also the guy who said that people didn't actually wanted this first so for him to mention ice cream immediately connects the dots.

My god. I️ played from late Vanilla into all of Burning Crusade and WOTLK, and quit right when Cataclysm came out. I️ can not wait for this.
BC was actually pretty good. WOTLK was okay, but was not my favorite and not nearly as-bad-as MOP. Cata is where you missed out in my opinion. It was a truly fun experience leveling. WOD offered fun leveling, but that is about it. Legion is kind of junk. The artifact was a great idea and equalized some aspect of raiding - at least to me because I have the worst luck upgrading my weapons. The legion classes are super clunky and unpolished.
I am looking forward to Classic, but having a sickly wife, two kids, AND starting a new career this year is going to make it difficult to level into 60. However, I will enjoy the slow grind and take my time with a big old fat smile!

This was the second Blizzcon I attended and I am so glad I did. I slept 30 minutes the night before and woke up at 5am to stand outside the Anaheim Convention Center for a few hours in the cold for some nice front row seats to what is in my opinion the best announcement for World of Warcraft in the history of the entire game. Not only did they announce a new expansion for retail and for the first time ever gave us the cinematic for it in the same ceremony, but they also gave us classic servers. I was in tears at the time, and I still am reliving this moment. Thanks for the upload.

I never played on Vanilla, i didnt even had a computer back then, but i get so emotional watching peoples reaction to it. The feeling of getting what you wanted so bad plus the nostalgia of that thing being something you loved when younger is something i can definetly relate to and it makes me so happy to see people excited and happy for WoW Classic, even tho i wont be playing it.

I remember only getting my undead Warlock to lvl 22 and leaving him close to the gilneas gate back when there were a bunch on elite humans there. It's time to finally hit 60 and fk those guys up.

i remember being a lvl 10 undead rogue and the first time seeing a banshee scared the F outta me
I only got my human warrior to 17 then stopped playing bc I died like 10 times In a row and I got pissed off of running back to my corpse (which was like a 4-5 minute walk). I am a modern day gamer I don't have an attention span capable of leveling In wow. But I'm planning on starting again and actually trying to powerlevel. I logged about 7 days of playtime on retail in 17 days so that just shows how much I no life when I play a game I really am enjoying

Watching this makes me realize how legendary wow is as a game. It came out when I was 2 in 2004, some played it when they were 13 others when they were 20 some when they were 40. It's crazy

Can't wait to reexperience the hunter class. When pets had unique stats even if they're the same breed and you actually had to care for them. Or how you had to feign death just to place traps because they were only useable outside of combat haha

I highly doubt this Classic server will be truly "classic". Way to many useless specs, or specs no one will want in a raid, and that's not going to fly in today's version of mmo players.
I really don't think (hope) they're targeting the common casual mmo player with this announcement.

aslong as i have 2-3k people on my classic server im good.
Then again i have grown used to between 5-10k as i have been playing on nost/elysium/lightshope..

My god. People are so toxic over the fact that blizzard released servers to accommodate another group of the player base. Now the people who liked vanilla can play that and everyone else can play current wow. How is this an issue?
Well when Blizzard started shutting down those private servers, the people who wanted classic were cursing Blizzard's name and hoping they would go bankrupt.
Then Blizzard caved to them.

I never experienced Vanilla WoW so I can say I'm excited to see what they do for it. I remember nights back when I was little and hearing my parents shouting and screaming as they ran MC and AQ back in the days. I hope they bring Vanilla justice.

Same here, but I think I joined late vanilla or very early BC. Born in '98 and I was 7 or 8 when I played. I was too young to know what xPacs were at the time. Plus by the time I got to 55 wrath was out and I made a DK, so it didn't really matter lol. I was an altaholic so I leveled veeery slow.
I still remember doing Uldaman with loads of greys on because I always equipped gear based on how much armor it had. I did get my raptor though which felt good. Played every expansion since then except for BFA.

@@Sikdomeshot I have played since vanilla and Wrath is when I really felt like everyone was playing as a community. Maybe it was my personal development with the game at that point but there were some real friendships made and lots of guild fun had during that time.

I don’t think that vanilla wow itself is what made playing back then an amazing experience. I think it was just that most of us hadn’t experienced an MMO RPG yet, and exploring through a massive world filled with real players was an entirely new and amazing experience. People confuse that nostalgic longing sensation with thinking vanilla WoW itself was amazing.

When it got back to the vanilla cinematic and the dwarf appeared I got goosebumps.
I remember buying this game and installing it when I was 11. It hat about 6 CDs and 10GB. I couldnt even imagine a game having that size. It took half a day to install. As soon as I started the game and listened to that epic Music I was hooked for years. Until deathwing came and destroyed my beloved Azeroth.

To people complaining about this, you do realize that no resources will be taken from your precious retail WoW to develop Classic, right? A separate team will be handling all things Classic WoW. So with that said, I don't see the gripe with it? I can only imagine that the real issue you have with it is all the bad memories of you getting camped in Ashenvale on that PVP server you made the mistake of choosing..
