Now that you scared them, I think you owe them a REAL water analysis. TDS (total dissolved solids) is just a part of what should be measured. I live in Canada, where water is known to be pretty clean, and according to the government, there is places in the country where you can drink perfectly good water that measures at more than 500 because the "solids" in the water are simply minerals, which our bodies need to a certain extend. The quantity is one thing, but WHAT kind of impurity is in the water is way more important to know! the indian government does nothing for sanitation or sewerage. less than half the population in india have access to toilets. Their sewage is untreated and pollutes water bodies. It also seeps underground, which poisons drinking water which is primarily sourced from groundwater.

@Matthew Mosier I was thinking the same thing. Sadly, from what I've read, their government makes a multitude of promises that it doesn't keep regarding safe water, air and general pollution control. Even some of the smaller cities in India severely lack proper cleanliness/hygiene regulations. Many people still don't have indoor plumbing or proper bathrooms and still "do their business" outside in specific areas that are cleaned out from time to time by the poorest of the poor for just pennies a day. There was an initiative back in the early 2000s where the Indian government spent over $90 million to build public bathrooms in the cities but they never hired anyone to maintain them, so it was a total disaster. Same thing with putting trash receptacles along the city streets, but didn't provide municipal pickup or even encourage the establishment of private waste removal business (which they really don't have as far as small businesses go) and the waste bins were overflowing into the already heavily littered streets within a week. In both cases, the government finally tore the public restrooms down and removed the trash bins and have never attempted to do anything like it since. I don't know if this is the only channel in this genre that you watch, or if you also watch some of the others, but have you ever noticed that whenever the participants (here and the other tribal reaction channels) go on a trip, either to a different country or another region of their country, the very first thing they mention is how clean and hygienic the place is? They're always amazed at the sealed packaging of food items that they've given to try and focus specifically on how clean and hygienic it is, compared to what they're used to purchasing from local markets and street vendors. I don't think there's ever been a government funded program to educate the public about littering or that India imposes any kind of fines for it, as other large cities and countries around the globe do. I'm not knocking these good folks because they truly have never been taught any differently, but I've seen videos of them on different excursions where they'll just throw paper wrappers or cups on the ground when they're done with them. And I remember being shocked a while back when they took them to a small public beach (I believe it was on one of the nearby rivers), at the amount of garbage/trash all over the beach and floating in the water! And these fine people weren't fazed in the least! They just walked right through and waded right in and it was like they didn't even notice how filthy it was, bless them! If you've made it this far, I'm sorry for the very long response to your comment. I guess it just bothers me tremendously, how these lovely people are ignored by their government and I guess the subject matter of this video really got me going. 😔🙏🏻

Great informative vid. I wonder though how they transported the water to the vid home. Was it a clean container? Or as someone else commented, how does the water get to their own homes? Thru pipes, a bucket? Glad they were given the meter to check themselves. Very happy the channel is trying to make a diff in their lives, even if only for awareness.
There's a unit from Quenchsea that was originally crowdsourced. It removes bacteria, parasites, and even microplastics from seawater (or other dirty water) to get clean water, and is solar powered.
You put the fear in them lol.. they definitely are immune to whatever is in their water . But total dissolved solids is only a small part of what should be tested. Their water could even be worse than what they think.
There are also contaminants that might not appear as dissolved solids and therefore not be detected by this test. Arsenic, which is a naturally occurring element found underground, can be present in wells. It's actually a big problem in Bangladesh and other parts of Asia.
Didn't Ruby mention that their water was hard water? Since the device measures dissolved solids, the minerals in hard water certainly would explain the high reading in the test for her well water. What testing is needed for bacterial counts, parasites, specific metals, and pesticide runoff?
I don't think that boiling reduces the concentration of dissolved solids, quite the opposite, one would think, as it boils away some of the water, whereas distilling would as well as filtering. I would assume that since they're ok, it's mostly inorganic (i.e. mineral) solids. Their area might just have hard water.
Boiling is only really good for killing bacteria. It does not do anything if the water is full of metal particles such as lead. If anything - it could make it worse.
These tds meters are essential for reverse osmosis systems, we need to know that the water outputted is pure for use, wherever its for window cleaning or for hydroponics or growing carnivorous plants
I really love these kind of videos better than reacting to TikTok clips or other meme-like videos. I would like to see more videos like this where they're learning valuable information that can help improve their living situations. And guaranteed, loyal viewers of these channels would be happy to donate to help purchase.
A water filter is always a good idea and is never going to hurt, but please let them know this doesn't necessarily mean their water is unsafe. I think you may have scared them a bit too much, Ruby looked legitimately worried. The solids dissolved in their well water are almost certainly completely safe, although again, a filter is never a bad idea.
i would disagree about most certainly safe. It has to be more tested. Don't forget that in India in the rural areas there is most certainly no sewage filtration and companies do dispose theis industrial waste in land fills. They use simple wells where all the "good" stuff is collected in the groundwater
@@petrophaga8523 I mean, I said "almost" certainly to cover my butt, and I'd say it's pretty evident it's most likely safe because they've been drinking from that same well their entire lives. That's also why I was saying they should still filter it just to be safe though. Well water is always going to have a higher amount of dissolved solids, and safe dissolved minerals found in it can actually be what makes some well water taste so good, but you're certainly right in that I am sure there is much less regulation protecting from ground water contamination, which is just a shame.
@@lorehammer40k4 " it's pretty evident it's most likely safe because they've been drinking from that same well their entire lives. " People smoke cigarettes their entire lives and it doesn't mean tar and nicotine are safe.
@@grabble7605 That's a bad analogy in my opinion. Any long term carcinogens in the water similar to those in smoking would not be detected by that kind of testing nor would it be removed by a commercial filter. I was referring to more common risks you might find in well water which actually could be removed with simple filters, like parasites or other common diseases. Still though, I agree you make a good point that just because the village hasn't been harmed by the well water it is therefore safe, it's not proof of that in the least and I certainly wasn't intending to imply it was if that's how it came across, but it is at least a point of evidence for the well's general safety.
In USA, many people cannot afford to buy bottled water, but we can get water FILTERS that take most of the contaminants out of our water sources. It's bad here too! Boiling water to drink works but takes much time. This meter is helpful to show where the water problems are, so they can be dealt with. It is a small thing, but VERY helpful in keeping people healthy! One cannot look at water and tell that it is clean to drink. The factories, the cities dumping their sewage in rivers.....the earth can take no more!
ZeroWater purifiers, they're affordable, under $50 CDN and they hold up to 20 cups of water and they're portable as well, my cousin uses them when he goes on fishing trips. They can cost hundreds of dollars, most of them need to be plugged in or attached to the water source via hose.
I work through a private water company here in the United States in Palmdale California I was in charge of testing the water testing for TDS it’s just one of the tests we take we do monthly testing for bacteria and plus various other contaminants organic contaminants which could be insecticides or different types of chemicals that you can’t drink we are both required by federal and state law to do all the testing so the TDS is just a minimum of two more important is doing testing for E. coli or bacteria
Giving them a tds meter is good.. but it needs to be calibrated every so often and a certain part replaced after a while. Will they be provided with that info?
VERY EFFECTIVE water filters can be made with a five gallon bucket filled with sand, gravel & charcoal layers A quick youtube search for homemade bucket water filters or such will bring up tutorials. There is testing thats been done and these are as effective as any store bought filter for organic and biological contaminants, though not so much for chemicals to my understanding. These are used around the world in the most remote of locations even to great effect.
As another person mentioned, the most important thing is to know what kind of "solids" are in the water. I was sorry to see Ruby getting sad, her family and children drink this water. The RO water should not be 80, it was definitely either a false advertisement by the bottled water manufacturer or a faulty home filter. I've used RO for many years and have a water tester. Our tap water is 110 but after RO it's 5-6. Then a mineral filter adds some minerals back into the water and it goes up to around 60. Something for the channel creator to consider - whatever the source of that RO water was, it's not credible. It should've been down to a few single digits, not 80.
If you're not grateful to be living wherever you're living, remember that in some parts of the world, people still fear polio. It puts things in perspective.
I'd like to say that boiling water is a fallacy for tds. If you evaporate away water yes you remove those that evaporate as gas such as fluoride but the rest (all of the dissolved metals and limescale) just get more concentrated as there's less water. A lot of people thinking by boiling water its suddenly safe for use with carnivorous plants which need low tds water. Not even a Brita filter or other filter jugs do a good enough job. For me filter jugs take my water down to 328ppm but then 390ppm is calcium carbonate (part of limescale)
I think sir should give everyone in the village a water tester and teach them how to use it to keep the village safe from these this bad things in water ❤️🙏
It’s not just about diseases it’s also things like carcinogens or lead in the water or other chemicals that can cause lots of different issues. I hope that the creators of this content, now that they have had the water tested of these poor people, provide them the financing to get a filtration system for their water wells. Otherwise, this is just plain cruel!
Very informative video, one that could save a life learning about clean water,,, there are dissolvable tablets that filter harmful bacteria in water at low cost price.
DO NOT DRINK BOTTLED WATER!!!!!!!!!! over 1/3 of all plastic waste is from bottled water... Most of them even say on the label that they are from a "municipal source". That's where your tap water comes from. People pay for clean water to enter their homes and then buy a plastic bottle of the stuff for money, also.
I hope, if you're going to show them a problem, you'll offer a solution. I can think of nothing cruelest than showing them their water can kill them and not provide a way to prevent it.
Bottled water is essentially just purified tap water, and you never know how long it's been sitting out before it is refrigerated again and put out for sale.
Now watch a video on how to treat water or how to build water treatment systems. Videos that they can follow. They have lots of sun and free heat. That will be very helpful in free water treatment systems.
When us, people, humans, started to be charged for water that's just one step closer to being charged for air... Yes there is costs to clean sewage water and maintenance of drainage for rain water, but here in the UK we pay council tax. That pays for almost everything, Police, Hospitals, Fire Fighters, Street lights, trash collection, etc... But we have to pay for water? A basic human need. Without water we die in under 5 days. But we have to pay for it? I'm living in a broken world where the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. George Lucas is a man who made the Star Wars movies. He was already a millionaire but he sold the copyright for the movies to Disney for 4 Billion Dollars. He could spend 1 million every day until he died and would still have cash left over to feed the starving for 5 decades.
This looks for solid material dissolved in water like limescale it does not tell how clean the water is because it does not test for bacteria. I have high TDS in England because we have chalky water but it is clean. Water from a pond would have a lower TDS but is not safe to drink.
I'm the same age as their friend who has polio. I wonder how much they knew about the other water borne illnesses they knew, but you can tell by their reaction that they knew what polio was. Honestly, isn't 500 even too high? I mean, they need to understand that is the top of the range.
658! Don't let it touch your skin! London averages out at around 316. Babu's was pretty good. A jug filter improves tap water, but it might have its work cut out in parts of the village out there. Good call on giving them the testers - that could start a ball rolling. Some decent bottled waters to drink would have topped off the video.

You mainly only find polio in countries who do not vaccinate...the rest of us never even think about polio
You should gift them a water filter or there should be some sort of small fundraiser to raise money for water filters for them.
Water filters are great, but a water purifier is what they need.
Something Like Brita Water Filtering Pitchers & Replacement Filters Until They Can Get A More Permanent Water Filtration System Would Be Great,, Definitely Appreciated & Of Benefit To Them.
Water filters are great, but a water purifier is what they need.
True,, But Even If They Could Be Provided With Something Like Brita Water Filtering Pitchers & Replacement Filters Until They Can Get A More Permanent Water Filtration/Purification System Would Be Great.
Great topic! Also, I love the woman on the show!
Solid!
Top KEK!
Peace be with you.
Awesome video!
It would have been interesting if you boil the well water for the lady and then retest it then she would know if her boiled water was safe to drink
@@blechtic that's what I was hoping the test might reveal.
@@WatchingDude How?
These tds meters are essential for reverse osmosis systems, we need to know that the water outputted is pure for use, wherever its for window cleaning or for hydroponics or growing carnivorous plants
Even a personal charcoal filter at home will work. This is what I used in Panama on the finca......triple charcoal filter.
1:10 Babu is filled to the brim with 'Pft, I've been smoking for seventy years and I'm still here!' energy
Love to you all!
I really love these kind of videos better than reacting to TikTok clips or other meme-like videos. I would like to see more videos like this where they're learning valuable information that can help improve their living situations. Even though the TDS test provides a basic metric, it would be nice to teach them about other aspects of water quality, filtration and purification methods and devices which can be implemented.
People smoke cigarettes their entire lives and it doesn't mean tar and nicotine are safe.
The producers should have also given them water filters.
Woulda been pretty funny at the end if Babu amazingly started singing “Dirty Water”, by the Standells.
This is so important.
I use this same BlueLab pen for my cannabis plants nutrients .😂
Good video. I wonder what a normal bottle of water is
Another good saying is "Knowledge is power"
I love your videos
LOL,BABU SAID IMA DRINK THIS CLEAN WATER...ALL OF IT😭
well water is good and clean water source if not contaminated but the high TDS just shows that the mineral content in the water is high.
More things like this!
If you're not grateful to be living wherever you're living, remember that in some parts of the world, people still fear polio. It puts things in perspective.
a follow up on his topic would be nice, how are they going to deal with the problem. will local authorities help?
Babu legit has a song for everything.
I think sir should give everyone in the village a water tester and teach them how to use it to keep the village safe from these this bad things in water ❤️🙏
mineral water is over 500 and fine depends on magnesium calcium etc, you cant tell by tds water purity, sport drink like gatorade is 1600 TDS
Dirty water could be deadly!
Bottled water is essentially just purified tap water, and you never know how long it's been sitting out before it is refrigerated again and put out for sale.
It's 2023. Every single person on this planet should have access to clean drinking water by now.
TDS doesn't say anything specific about bacterial, heavy metal or other types of contamination, so a comprehensive test is needed.
There are things in water that a person cannot see this water tester will keep them safe and water filters ❤️🙏
How do you eat fish there safely due to water ❤️🙏
Show them how to use it and how to clean it. Also for water treatment boiling is best
Bahbu Bhai loves music. I wonder if he knows Sade from America.
🎶 Ohhh when you're low. You'll find me by your side baby. 🎶
Whatever they need, we should know. Something like that ks only a few dollars in America. We should give more.
Ruby is very pretty.
Maybe get a water pitcher that filters so they can test for themselves before and after?
I'm the same age as their friend who has polio. I wonder how much they knew about the other water borne illnesses they knew, but you can tell by their reaction that they knew what polio was. Honestly, isn't 500 even too high? I mean, they need to understand that is the top of the range.
This is should be part of a information day as this will safe many people a lot of hardship.
Even though the water in the USA is nearly always safe, I use a zero water filter system that cleans the TDS down to zero.
Please give them a water filtration system for their homes! 🤗
I live in the U.S., and I refuse to drink tap water even if a filter is being used. I purchase bottled water.
It makes me want to test my well water even though I live in America our well water can have stuff in it too
