I like this channel a lot because you are showing in practice what needs to be done to implement rainwater collection infrastructure on drylands. Very good work and thanks for posting!
Awe, thanks Ivan. Helps to hear that. I am always doubting the delivery of information vs format. Dryland water management and regenerating the ecosystem is a passion, so I hope I can learn and share more in time.
I unfortunately used old tyres in the early 2000 s. We had about 4has of erosion but we combated it! Plants trees and the grass took over. Nature is a beautiful thing. I so loved my farm. Congratulations that you sorting this. 🎉
Wow. Nice to hear. I don't think tyres are that bad. You recycled them well! Rubber and carbon , two natural things that you locked up instead of releasing. Well done.
Great technique for building gabions from leftover fencing. You can easily customize your gabion to fit the site requirements. Much greater flexibility at a far lower cost. If at some point you have the need to build a stacked gabion (leaky weir) in an arroyo - that would be a WONDERFUL video for similarly situated homesteaders. Perhaps with the end goal of using the gabions structure to capture sand to build a sand dam? 👍
@@SimpleEarthSelfReliance You are most welcome! I believe you follow Martin at Suerte del Molino farm? The sand he has collected behind his leaky weirs is already extending the flow in his degraded creek by several days following a rain event. As the sand dams continue to grow, so will the length of time the water will continue to flow gently in the creek. It is a beautiful sight and sound! 😊
I hope the silt will collect in time. I reckon some natural seeds might get dispersed there, but if not, I will force it a bit. Thanks for the good point, appreciated
Nice, looking forward to the build

@@SimpleEarthSelfReliance ! Thank you. I love to recycle even left over water in a glass. 🙂😂🙂😇
Good going, Alexia. Who needs Thor. 😊 Gabions are actually great inventions. Could they also be used for a garden wall ? Cannot wait to see the domes.
Cannot wait to see your new build!

That's a great idea!
In my newest video (upcoming), this might work for that clay mine area. *scratch chin*
Thanks for stopping by, Steve

If you use the collected silt from your dam on the gambion and seed them with grasses, they'll anchor the gambion better.

Don't let those rock roll!

Heeltemal. Right now in summer peak, it feels daunting but one more month then we should be able to have temps back in the 30s (Celsius)
