Masham Steam Rally road run into town

- Had a ride into masham on the back Sentinel No. 1465 (reg. AW 3321) is one of two surviving examples of the Lightweight Super Sentinel steam wagon. It was built in the early 1940s, but the number/reg came from an earlier Standard wagon built in 1916. This was because WWII restrictions meant wagons couldn't be built from new - so instead, Sentinel 'rebuilt' older wagons, but it's unlikely any parts from the 1916 wagon were used to produce 1465. It had to remain with Sentinel until the wartime restrictions were lifted, after which it was sold to Scientific Roadways Ltd of Shipley, the first of many subsequent owners. It first appeared at a rally in 1958.

17.50 brilliant regulator wide open 40mph feels like 80mph on that thing. Good to see some ones not seen before like that York roller at 11.40 DN something .
sadly we never got full chat as he didn't want to set the Field of Barley on fire with it been so dry.
The sentinel used to be owned by John Woodley in Devon so this wagon brings back some good memories when it was ralled down here he did the same used to take us for a road run then up to the beer tent when we came back to the rally field i had the privilege of being in the cab on a couple of occasions as well

really nice event with a nice mix of all sorts of utilitarian vehicles, not limited to steam traction.
Try travelling on the bed of the truck or a trailer in normal traffic, would be a guarantee for a hefty fine 😁. But nice that they (the police) allow it during these rallies.
i think the police once stopped or tried to stop trailers leaving Pickering traction engine rally one year.
