Fun fact: When River met Tennant's Doctor, one of the first questions she asked was " Have we done the crash of the Byzantium yet?" This is that very episode!
@@jacobcurle8964 David Tennant was supposed to stay in series 5, that's why Moffat put the line in there. My in-universe theory is that River doesn't really care what he looks like, she figures how young he is by the look on his eyes.
@@AWinterLullaby Tennant wasn't exactly supposed to stay he chose to leave with RTD, Julie Gardener & Phil Colinson. Moffat did take David to dinner & tried to change his mind on leaving but his mind was made up
@@fleason771 He considered staying for one more season when he learned Moffat was taking over as showrunner. Moffat prepared series 5 with the 10th Doctor in mind, but Tennant eventually stuck with his original plan of leaving with the RTD team.
For that one - it's always good to watch a compilation of her timeline put right in the order - there have been few of those on TH-cam. Obviously there may be some instances still awaiting us in future seasons, but it's a good thing to do, when we reach the singing towers (thing River mentions in her first episode).
5:45 Some people actually got upset about "It's not supposed to make that noise". In Old Who, other Time Lords' TARDISes also sound that way. It would be weird if they all flew them wrong, but it's _completely_ in-character for River to just be joking/trolling the Doctor with her comment, so I assume that's what it actually was. 22:56 It gets overshadowed by some later speeches, but I agree that "There's one thing you never, ever put in a trap: me." is a great line. P.S. Despite this being 5x04, it was the first episode Matt and Karen filmed together.
So glad you are getting to these River Song episodes, m'dude! You're gonna love her even more than you did in the Library episodes. I would say more, but .... SPOILERS!
This was the very FIRST ep Matt & Karen filmed as the 11th Doctor & Amy Pond, the chemistry is outstanding, they filmed The Eleventh Hour" later on. Years later Steven Moffat said he put everything into this episode to the detriment of the previous episode "Victory Of The Daleks" & especially the size & height of the Paradigm Daleks
I remember the outrage when this first aired and an animated Graham Norton wandered across the doctor's finishing line to advertise some music competition or whatever
@hunrahel It's entirely possible that he brought it up on that, too - but I think the one I'm thinking of was on a quiz show that he was hosting. Edit - the clip is on TH-cam, actually, if you search for 'Charlie Brooker Doctor Who'.
If you remember back to the First time River was introduced and she met The Doctor (David Tennant) in Silence in the Library, she opened her diary and asked "Have we done the Byzantium yet ?", Referring to the Space ship in this episode.
River Song's story arc involving multiple Doctors plus Amy & Rory was the keystone that caused me to become a Doctor Who fan. It's an astonishing and emotional roller coaster!
HAHA. I FOUND IT. For anyone interested, the intro song Jay plays is "I Don't Care - US Version" by Apocalyptica and Adam Gontier Randomly found it in one of my Spotify mixes and was like "where have I heard this before???" Another great video, man. Love your Doctor Who vidoes.
There were 2 things British that I was obsessed with in the late 2000s, "Doctor Who" & The Streets. When this came out, I thought I was going crazy when I thought I saw Mike Skinner randomly show up in a clip.
Tennant and Capaldi are my favorite actors who played Who. BUT, the best plot lines are Matt Smith era. And this is where they begin. "The Aplans have two heads..." Always gives me chills.
Super sassy River Song? Check! Great villain in the Weeping Angels plus more information about them? Check! Amy being stubborn and courageous at the same time? Check! The Doctor getting into everything plus a great little speech? Check! We have all the ingredients for a top notch episode - and bonus because it's a two-parter! David Tennant as 10 will always be my favorite Doctor, but episodes like this are what bring Matt Smith as 11 very high up too.
This is a really good come back of the angels. And one that actually resolves around our main cast, it's not as good as Blink personally - especially the second part of it, but it does great job of adding more horror to a villain that originally only jumpscared you. Can't wait for you to reach the future episodes as well. Whole storyline for River Song is still ahead of us, and there is also in my opinion the best angels episode that is Village of the Angels (for that one we probably will have to wait years until you reach it, lol).
Anything that holds the image of an Angel becomes an Angel. Remember all those photos Sally Sparrow gave the Doctor, trying to warn him that the Angels would be coming for him?
Yea because this showrunner is the guy who wrote ruber sonh back in yhe library he takes asvanatge and gives us rivers story aceoss many episodws enjoy
Came to the comments does no one else see that every 5 seconds there is a blur on the reaction for like 1 second ???? Because no one else seens to be talking about it ????
Don't listen to Kayjee17. Of course there's a blur, but I just assume it's there to get around copyrights. Some reactors seem to have more problems than others for some reason, so they do whatever they can to get around it.

The interesting thing about this is that it means River doesn’t actually know the order of the Doctor’s different faces

You will love River's story, even if it is played out in a wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey way

Eleven has THE BEST LINES. And the best episodes imo.
