    • @newzealandpolice
      @newzealandpolice  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      At work not that often, It's probably more common out of town. I've come across it in my private travels before and had to call 111. I've found it is less to do with them not knowing the rules and mostly just not being prepared for how challenging some of our roads are. Best thing you can do is slow down, give space and call us if they are a risk to other road users. - Constable Hurn.

      @newzealandpolice  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pauljameson1 Yeah! I found driving in the US to be quite straight forward and loved rolling though the roads in the more rural parts of California. Hi Maighan I'm the one who sent Constable Hurn the Queensland Police patches.
      Most police forces are reluctant to give out patches as they form part of the uniform. Too many have used patches illegally as a form of identification.
      I think in Australia police can legally confiscate any police items a civilian may have, as they are technically crown property.
      As Constable Hurn said, buy some of their goodies. They look more fun than patches anyway. Might have to get the Police dog duo for my grandkids!!

    So are the police in your country not allowed to carry their guns with them all the time? What if you go to a call and all of the sudden the situation rises to a level where you need a firearm? Thanks.

      @@Nick.Ashton So are they not allowed to have it on their person at all times? You have to feel the situation out to see if you might need your pistol or not?

    • @Nick.Ashton
      @Nick.Ashton 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dpg6327 That's right. They would be told if there were any flags on the computer system for possible weapons and probably make a judgement on that. Mind you, New Zealand doesn't actually have a huge problem with gun related violence and gun owners need to pass a test and obtain a licence to own one. Police do carry tasers with them on their hips all times though.
      This video shows where the gun safe is in the car boot and Johnny shows you the guns they use.. th-cam.com/video/Ote2eC-ZvMk/w-d-xo.html

    Story time.....
    So I always wanted to be either a police officer or a veterinarian, but a couple of weeks ago I got attached by this girl and I went to the police station to write a statement, and from then I’ve decided I really wanted to be a police officer to prevent things like that happened to me from happening to anyone else.

    Can you get a body worn camera? it would give a bit more detail, and make for some awesome story telling. Just redact/blur/edit out the parts that you need to

      At the moment we're not issued with Body worn camera's and it would be against policy for me to just adopt my own but there will be more out of the car footage in future episodes! - Constable Hurn.
