For some reason, this song just randomly popped into my head. I haven’t heard it for many years, so I looked it up to listen to it. It’s just as awesome as I remembered it.
Yes it was I started that decade just after meeting the young beautiful Korean lady what who would become my wife (married in August 1980). Two wonderful daughters first in 1981 and the second in 1983. Reagan was president and the music was fantastic and far and away better than the junk of today.
The 80's was definitely a heck of a time to grow up. Man I remember in school the first computer. And the big hair, the fashion statements .long hair. Rock bands coming yearly. Like Poison , Ratt, Warrant. And so many others. Not to mention the early days of rap, pop rock, just an awesome time running around carrying a radio big enough to wake the dead. I mean seriously it took enough batteries to jump start your car. Boy those were the good times, the best of times.
I'm really starting to as of late. I was a teenager in the 80s, and while there's some good music out there still, most of it has nowhere near the soul it once did. Early Mtv really was something.
My wife’s cousin is the drummer in Till Tuesday’s Voices Carry and is seen on the mtv video. Google John Perlmutter and read the Wikipedia page on him. Met him, nice guy.
My first choice is classic and prog rock. I'm a huge Rush fan too....as well as Floyd, ELO, Kansas I'm not into pop music but the 80s had some good top 40 songs back then.
Loved The GoGos! A couple of guys I worked with in the 90s poked fun at me because of it, but did it bother me? Nah. A couple of days later, I told one of them, “You know a lot of their music is just a throwback to the beach music sound?” He sheepishly said “I know.”
I always thought that Belinda was gorgeous when I was growing up in the 80's, I was in elementary and junior high school at the time and that continued into high school 🥰
I miss the go go and the bangles and heart raw talent it's amazing how you hear one of them ol tunes and it takes you back to high schools days love uins GEN X ps I love traveling back in time
I dedicate this to my manager at workbench on third ave and 76th in 1985 …Ed Diguardia…. A great guy our store was top sales and our store was awarded a night out in the village at Gavin’s. It was the first time I heard the walk like an Egyptian. He was dancing and having the time of his life. Being empath I felt the good feelings. He hired me because he lived on Long Island in the same town as I. While working there I lived at my dads in rego park. After a year or so my dad was well enough for me to go back home to Long Island. Oddly enough I bought a house diagonally across from Ed’s house it was his moms he inherited. Sadly he passed from liver cancer. Several years ago but these memories survive in my mind and heart and am sad that his life had been cut short. It seems everyone I’ve known in the past has sadly passed I feel so alone. No one from my past hardly anymore. 😞
I saw the Band in Concert in Aug 82 in Canada. Carlisle had just chopped her most of her Hair off. Wiedlin was the Dynamo on stage, she was always bouncing around.
When i was just 14 old , i never knew about Go - Go' s , But i saw the video of " Heaven is a place on earth " and ...... what a bomb ! Wonderful song with a wonderful woman with a fantastic Voice ! Very soon , i had a crush for Belinda Carlisle and ...... i still have it ! ❤
I remember when Belinda emerged with the new look, MTV's VJ Julie Brown kept calling her a byatch (with an i) because she was able to lose weight and look so good. It was hilarious. But yeah, I couldn't believe it was the same woman.
Dec 1981 A song written by Jane (guitarist far right side of screen) and Terry Hall of The Specials. They had a short relationship in May 1980 and wrote this regarding the gossip surrounding it.
What a difference a year makes ! No more spitting from the feral punks on the 1980 tour the band had to put up with. Now they were coming back to the UK with a number one album and single under their belts.
My very first "real" concert. Edmonton Alberta . Northlands Coliseum . The Vancouver band , Payolas were the warm up band. Freaking amazing . And the Go -Go's where smokin HOTTIES !! Still have the ticket stub.
Lip synched but between belinda's energetic dancing and jane bopping around like that still a very enjoyable performance. They were always fun to watch
This wasn’t the BBC. This TOPPOP, not Top of The Pops. And it was standard practice for bands to mime due to time constraints. Stop trying to sound clever - it doesn’t suit you.
It is 2024. Am I the only one finding this song still awesome? Not to mention the singer, of course.
For some reason, this song just randomly popped into my head. I haven’t heard it for many years, so I looked it up to listen to it. It’s just as awesome as I remembered it.
I'm here with you pal...
No, me too!
@@realtruth716The same here about The Go Go's in 2024!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊!
She’s bloody beautiful isn’t she
I’m a 62 year-old Canadian and had a MAJOR crush on Belinda and Jane back then. I watch this video and I remember why😀
"American woman
Stay away from me
American woman
Mama, let me be"
@@Philmoscowitz A classic song that was created spontaneously out of thin air.
@@DutchVai Great story behind that song.
Jane is my favorite. She was crazy hot in the Rush Hour video. Her coming out as bisexual makes her hotter. I love it when she's performing barefoot.
That CHONKY CHONKY bass line!…what a beautiful sound! Thank you all for being an earworm of my youth. 💙🇨🇦
Imagine going back to the 80's. The awesome era.
Didn’t know how cool it was till it was over
Need a way back machine

Belinda was the stuff that dreams were made of when I was a younger man...
Charlotte was mine!
Fantastic. Jane is still free. Bagsy the punk pixie.
@@VonBladeMiss of Arc 😂
This is why we must start cloning before it's too late!
Oh Yess 💘💘💘💘💯
I was in college then, we couldn't wait to see the newest videos coming out! What a great time that was 😂!
MTV was so exciting every new video was innovative, different, exciting

Wow the go-go's sounds was so ahead of it's time. Still sounds as good 43 years later. And I have heard this song probably 10k times.
Who’s still watching this awesomeness in 2024😊
A cool.group of women
Who ever thought we'd miss the 80s ?!!!
I'm really starting to as of late. I was a teenager in the 80s, and while there's some good music out there still, most of it has nowhere near the soul it once did. Early Mtv really was something.
I knew it in the 80s. I didn't want it to end 😢
@@gato7908 the 80s were bomb.

Dave vida- youre missed and here is the gogo's! I remember listening while we cleaned up the studio!!! Miss ya brother!!
This song always takes me back to summer in 1981, I lived in a shit part of Sydney and it was the best times
The 80’s were amazing. There were hard times to then but life was great then
She's definitely one of the greats!! Loved every song! Brings back alot of memories ❤
The Go-Go's - The greatest female band in music history. They broke the mold and then broke records. Women rockers today owe them.
Souixie and the Banshees were pretty bad ass
gotta think they blazed the trail for another great all-girl group, the Bangles.
Feels just like yesterday. Great times ❤
I'm 52, i was into Rush and Black Sabbath back then but the gogos were a huge guilty pleasure
me too
Same here and moon unit Zappa too.
My first choice is classic and prog rock. I'm a huge Rush fan too....as well as Floyd, ELO, Kansas
I'm not into pop music but the 80s had some good top 40 songs back then.
Love the Go-Go's. Forever!
I have seen them many times in concert. They are beyond great. Timeless music.
Everyone needs to have seen The Go-Go's live at least once. They are so freakin TIGHT.
These ladies were very talented!👍
43 years back so many nice memories with this song.

Got to see the GO-GO's on this tour at the Cleveland Agora. Was a great sold-out show.
Super catchy song. They were so great. ✌️
So effing great !!

Seen Belinda twice and I just wish she would do this!!!!
Saw Belinda twice, nimrod.
No words, just awesome rock at it best!
Rock on Gogos! Love and peace!
Truly breathtaking bass line in this song, wonderful.
😅😅😅😅😅 you cretin
Thanks for posting this. I was at the show, and this was a standout moment. Hootie as essentially a 90s tribute band really worked.
Great work with the camera! Fantastic!!
The 80’s were a magical time.
Yes they were!
We had Paul Daniels & Debbie Magee
BELINDA HAD A BEAUTIFUL STRONG VOICE!!!!! ALWAYS LOVED TO HEAR HER SING!!!!!!
Congrats to the Go-Gos for their Induction in to the 2023 Class of the Rock and Roll of Fame !
Wow hope to see you again ❤🎉
Belinda, amazing!
My sophomore year in highschool when this was popular.Where has life gone..class of 85
Jane Weidlen and Terry Hall of the Special co wrote this incredible song! Thanks!
Can’t get more 80s. It’s impossible.
Yep. Big hair, beautiful women and of course lip syncing.
I love the chords they use in this song.
Such a good time
I always thought that Belinda was gorgeous when I was growing up in the 80's, I was in elementary and junior high school at the time and that continued into high school 🥰
Love this Summer song by the GoGo’s ❤
Love this band. Always a great bassline played, and Belinda had that perfect bouncy pop voice.
Valentine and Shock are one of the best rhythm sections of the ‘80’s. Just killer grooves.
Love the bass on this song!
Gary Davis, Tony Blackburn,Joan armatrading …. Still going strong 41 years later !!
An inspiration, great going guys
I miss the go go and the bangles and heart raw talent it's amazing how you hear one of them ol tunes and it takes you back to high schools days love uins GEN X ps I love traveling back in time
These women had talent, beauty, wrote their own lyrics, played their own instruments. Rare back then.
Rare today as well. Music has deteriorated to a new low and keeps going downward.
it wasn't rare back then...it was normal
How was it rare for bands to write their own music? You are thinking of pop and country stars.
Ain't it The Truth ☺☺😎👊💯
ERAN MEDIADOS DE LIS AÑOS 70's TODAS LAS BANDAS TOCABAN SUS INSTRUMENTOS, COMPONIAN SUS PROPIAS CANCIONES ESO ERA NORMAL
Hard to dislike the sound.
This song rocks! I listen to it at the gym and I even did a drum cover of it.
Fab stuff!
I saw them live with the B-52s. Great show with two great bands!
Who didn't love the GoGos?
I love the gogo girl
The go gos know have to fun and play rockin roll and played and wrote their own music and also showed women can rock the stage
Probably the bangles
Such a fun band!
I loved this song in "81 and still do. So much better than today's Hip hop crap
Such things you will never see or hear in contemporary times. Sad that
Amazing. I'm in love. Of course. WoW. She awakens me to feel alive once more.
Bring back the 80's
Bring back the 80’s
So I could be 20 again !!!!!
Eternal playlist- Gogo’s absolutely Rocks “10” and Belinda is Vundubar!!! Love love her do!
They are beautiful.
We miss you and love 1980's!
Cause we were in our 20’s

August of '82 in Seattle. They were my first concert. 42 years later still a fan.
I know Belinda was the lead, but man, did I love Jane Wiedlin.
She was cute for sure.
She(Wiedlin) co-wrote this Song, with a Boyfriend of hers
I unsealed her lips.
Solid!
Top KEK!

Can't believe I just found out Belinda Carlisle was the lead singer. Imho Fun boy 3 did a brilliant version of this
Ahh “Alex the Seal” what a banger of a song.
When the song was first out, heard "honest I see you"
😂
The 80s were the best.
Except for the constant nuclear war threats..
@estelja how is that any different from today?
Sure it was the best
I was in my 20’s

Is... this really live? That sounds spot-on album-perfect. That is amazing. I knew they were talented, but damn.
My very first "real" concert. Edmonton Alberta . Northlands Coliseum . The Vancouver band , Payolas were the warm up band. Freaking amazing . And the Go -Go's where smokin HOTTIES !! Still have the ticket stub.
Great song and a great singer. She is awesome ❤
The Go-Go's, Bananarama, the bangles all girl bands and all brilliant and great to watch.
First time hearing this version Pretty..Oool baby
Let's have more of this digging into the the video archives please!
That bass tone kills.
I read somewhere they are the only female group who wrote all of the tracks on their first album and it went to number 1. Amazing!
"Our lips are sealed" because the BBC made us lip-synch. Still cool seeing them on stage here.
BBC lips were sealed when Sir Jimmy Savile worked there
Lip synched but between belinda's energetic dancing and jane bopping around like that still a very enjoyable performance. They were always fun to watch

Belinda Carlisle- BABE. Or said a different way,SMOKIN HOT
Used to see them at the Starwood in west LA. That was when they were getting better to kick butt. Miss those days
I remember the band in the in the Eighthys I was in my Twenties going to clubs listening to them like to turn back time
The best
