Less than a thousand people have seen this video masterpiece? That is indeed a sham. This is in the uppermost tier of review presentation on this platform, and it deserves better.
This is a really eloquent call for a reappraisal of this film. I'm actually keen to rewatch it again and I hadn't given it a second thought for over 20 years at this point
Thank you so much. I rewatched it myself only a year or so ago after having not seen it for a long time. And I was struck by how much I vibed with it now, versus when it came out.
Happy holidays! Thank you mate. This one was quite close to getting abandoned but I'm glad I finished it and got it out there. More questionable takes on mid movies, coming soon!
Rewatching this because, one, it's a certified Stoked banger, and two, we watched Burton's Apes last night. While I don't quite share your love for the film, I really appreciate your perspective on it, and it made for a much more enjoyable viewing experience than if I'd just gone in with only the original series as context. Tim Roth absolutely owns as Thade though. Insane.
The video was unblocked by YT which is nice, but it's still claimed by Fox. My request for Fair Use recognition is still pending. Keep your filthy paws crossed!
Love this movie, can re-watch it over and over agian lol very underatted i recomend checking out the gba game as well it plays like the og prince of persia:)
I went into this thinking I had never watched a Planet of the Apes movie, but I now realize I saw about 20 minutes of this one on TV probably in 2008 or so. Thought it was really neat how you detailed the way the actors trained to walk more like animals. And greatly appreciated the puns. It’s definitely understandable to me why it never got a sequel given the movies you listed that also came out in 2001. Fellowship just decimates every other movie there (for me). I like Spirited Away and Shrek a ton though. What I really wish is that we got that Tim Burton Superman movie with the long-haired Nic Cage Superman. Excellent video!
I would loved to have seen that Superman Lives film get made. It is a shame this film got bodied so hard by the competition, because it was really successful and Fox could have made a pretty coco-bananas sequel to it.
I absolutely love this movie, it is amazing. The one actor who I think could have done Thade as well as Tim Roth would be Gary Oldman. But Tim was perfection. I really wish Fox had the balls to follow up with a sequel to pay off that ending.
I can always count on you to drop a total banger on an unexpected topic.
Also, the “ripens my banana” line in a Planet of the Apes video? Pure cinema.

Banger vid, Matty! I'm excited to see you talking about movies now too. A very merry Monkey June-hem to all!

Loved this, Matty! Totally with you about this movies set design and Paul Giamatti’s performance.

I love you, man. Thank you for this comment xxx
It’s finally out! Hope all the issues were resolved with the ™️ stuff!

When the video about the movie is WAY better than the actual movie 🤌
This is one of those movies that I watch and enjoy, and then forget how much I enjoy because of all the negativity it gets
A ridiculous amount of negativity is leveled at this film. And I say an unfair amount!
@@MattyStokedyeh funfsct did you kn Oliver stone was guing to do a planet kf spes moviein the 1990s with Arnold Schwarzenegger
Thank you for this awesome video! I never watched this particular movie but I sure will after listening to your retrospective!
You should!
I haven’t watched this movie since I was a kid, but you’ve convinced me to give it another go.
I really hope it lands well!
I'm gonna watch it for the first time after watching this.
Awesome! Please report back with what you thought!
This was just the video I wanted right now! You read my mind.

Oldman would have killed in that! They could have brought him in for the sequel!
I love how you use ape related soundtracks in an ape related movie review 😂😅❤
It's the little details that matter :)
I always liked the film. Not keen on the newer ones, the cgi is horrible. Much prefer practical effects. The original films and series are amazing
