    Nice little scope. Personally I would prefer a simple AZ mount as a beginner is likely to get confused and frustrated with the EQ mount.I agree with you about the eyepiece.....there is already a lot of glass in the path,

    I don’t think that the erect image 20mm is a complete waste. Someone setting this scope up for the first time might enjoy using their reflector as a terrestrial spotting scope.

    • @44messier
      @44messier  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. If used for terrestrial objects it is a perfectly decent eyepiece to use.

      @@44messier 20 mm is good for alingment too with the finderscope, believe me. This is my first telescope, maybe not last, I'm just getting started and I found that eyepiece useful for aiming at objects that are in my neighborhood.

      @@0909umciaThis 100%. Maybe I'm a noob but I don't know how I'd ever get my finder's scope lined up without my 20mm.

      Get a good quality 32mm plossl and enjoy the wider field of view. There is more to astronomy than the Planets and Moon.

      A good quality plossl 25mm. Will give an upside down image but wider and sharper view compared to the erect image stock eyepiece

    Awesome video!! Is it possible to control this telescope through a computer software or an app ?

      In theory yes. If you are happy to spend £500+ on a GOTO mount + software needed

    Hello, thank you for the review. I want to ask, what is a better option for DSOs and amateur astrophotography with a phone? This or Omegon N 114/900 EQ-1? I really want to buy my first telescope but i struggle to choose.

    • @44messier
      @44messier  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unless you are taking photos of the Moon, forget about taking photos through a starter scope. Will only end in disappointment. Enjoy the view through the eyepiece and worry about taking pics when you upgrade.

    • @rd_0939
      @rd_0939 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@44messier really? Well ive seen people take really impressive pictures about DSOs with even more budget telescopes and sometimes just phones. I will take like 10 second exposures and stack 50 or more pictures. I've seen different results. Also my intention for a telescope is for DSO and amateur photos. I don't really care about moon or planets

    • @44messier
      @44messier  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As long as you have an EQ motor go for it. Both the AM and the other you mention are long focal lengths, so will require longer exposure. If looking at this size telescope go for a 500mm f4. Or better still a short tube refractor. Check out images I took with a travel scope 70 + DSLR body here th-cam.com/video/goBz-xxKi1s/w-d-xo.html . Be aware there are (some) fake you tube videos with images taken with much larger scopes claiming they are from a starter one. So beware

    Finding it abit difficult to use unless it’s just me who maybe just completely useless 😂 is there a video tutorial on how to use the controls or am I just making it harder than what I’d should be? In your video you could move it freely side to side and also up and down and and still stayed still then I guess fine tune with those levers

    • @44messier
      @44messier  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Always remember there is more in the night sky than Jupiter and Saturn. But if this is your thing, in this price range consider the Astromaster 90EQ or the longer focal length of the Skywatcher Explorer 130 EQ2. Thanks for watching

    What is the eye lens model brand you prefer to use on this telescope

    • @44messier
      @44messier  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any brand as long as they are a decent plossl. Celestron do the Omni range which are great. But if over budget £20-£30 will get you nice plossl eyepiece that will give you a wider FOV than the erect image option you get as standard. If in the UK we stock nice Optical Hardware plossls and a kelper 25mm LER which I have reviewed.

      I have a few telescopes ranging from 70mm and 100mm refractors + 130mm, 150mm, 300mm Newtonians + a 150mm Klevsov. But despite all the "bigger brothers" I still use the smaller ones, as they are quick set ups and also it helps me give honest opinions about what you can see through smaller scopes if anyone here asks. Plus the travel scope 70 is brilliant for DSO imaging when on the HEQ5 mount.
