This is why we need to remain true to ourselves, and not let anxiety overwhelm, otherwise things will be ripped from within. All good things come to those who wait.

Anger would turn into Temperament/Passion, assuming Riley grows into a healthy-minded adult. Anger that is tempered to do better or something of the sort, like how her dad had passion.

Words can't describe how much I hate anxiety. And it's not just the character itself. It made my life miserable during my teen years, and seeing it as a persona really makes me want to punch it.
Well, for me Anxiety has trapped Joy inside a jar for 33 years and counting...
This is gonna sound really weird, but as much as I hate my own anxiety, I LOVE Anxiety as a character in this movie. I just feel so drawn to her, and want to hug and comfort her. ☺

A villain is a bit of a stretch. I'd rather call her a flawed character; wishing the best, but the perfectionism, which already turns us into our own worst enemies, often leads to opposite results.
But in the end, it is alright to be anxious. We're anxious about the future all the time. But anxiety shouldn't be our sole reason to live. And bottling up emotions is a self-destructive habit.

@@_PRETTY_LITTLE_PYSHCO High School is 10 to 12th grade and Middle School is 6 to 8th grade. It's not normal to skip 3 years unless you are a genius, but even then it is rare. I think you have "Secondary School", not the same system as the North American and European one.

@@gracelalimarmo4443 It's a combination of feeling bored and tired (feeling like you don't want to do anything), though I'd argue it isn't really an emotion as tired is a physiological response. Like how nausea doesn't necessarily imply disgust, or how pain doesn't necessarily imply sadness, anger, or anything really.

The only time I ever witness anxiety is when I interact with media of the horror genre. It's more of a matter of anticipation, that I must willingly press forward into a horrible threat that gives me an awful feeling of dread. Aside from media, I witness anxiety briefly after I go through a discussion or conflict that makes me question if I have done something horribly wrong, but after the immediate event my mind quickly calms down, and I am able to carefully construct my plan moving forward and to continue on with other things not allowing it to absorb me. Whether it be feedback with my coach, aggressive debates with friends or forgetting the bag on the bus, I can't change what happened, but I am able to evaluate and make better decisions next time. Anxiety is important, but it's not a defining emotion. It allows you to be critical of things that matter to you and to be concerned which within itself isn't a bad thing. But if you can only be concerned and be absorbed in it, you will be miserable, because all you will ever look forward to is problems. We must be accepting that we will be uncomfortable, and anxiety makes us aware of that in everything we do. But as we become more exposed to different circumstances, anxiety deafens, and we can appreciate what we were once blind to. Schmungus.

Edited the story is called hypostasis of the archons ( reality of the rulers) showing just how Riley is not really in control that instead it’s the archons or distorted reflections of the core emotions or aeons that are yes trying to protect her but are destroying her purity of “being a good person” to survive. The sense of self tree is the tree of knowledge of good and evil

I really didn’t like the ending.
Last movie the ending essentially was accepting depression… which I guess through plot magic somehow made Riley somehow change her mind for the better?
This movie end they gave her an unstable sense of self which is akin to like borderline personality disorder.

The title of this video sounds like a average day in Anxietys life, totally in character of her.
“Spy sapping my Riley!”
Fiery hot take: Anxiety was just what Riley needed. You guys saw what Joy was doing with her friends at the start of camp! Joy simultaneously made Riley disappoint the coach and get her team in trouble (forcing them all to lose their phones + do laps [making a terrible first impression on everyone]). The captain of the Firehawks saw potential in her and wanted to be friends, and her current friends weren't even going to be at the high school she went to! And about the sense of self/team-picking bit at the start? VAL WAS LITERALLY GESTURING FOR RILEY TO COME OVER!!! Her friends should have been happy about the opportunity Riley got.
Anxiety gave Riley the push she needed to practice harder and work to gain the approval of her team. Sure, Anxiety screwed up a couple of times with the hair dye and the panic attack, but I'd argue that they're both pretty equal in the amount of distress Joy would have caused Riley in the long term. If Joy had stayed in control during hockey camp, Riley would have kept goofing off with her friends. Sure, she would have had a blast at camp, but the entire team would have disliked her for getting them in trouble, and the coach would have viewed her as a slacker who didn't take hockey seriously (which would cause making the team to be near impossible). High school comes along, and Grace and Bree go to a different school. Joy was intent on Riley sticking by her old friends instead of talking to Val, and because of this, Riley would have little to no bond with Val. She would not make the team because of slacking off too much during camp. Riley would be all alone, just like she worried about.
Joy returning at the end of the last game to help Riley recover while Anxiety took over throughout the majority of camp was the best-case scenario for Riley. Riley gets the drive to improve and the respect of her teammates from Anxiety (plus the opportunity to become friends with Val and the others in the future) while also enjoying the last game and swiftly recovering from Anxiety's rule, thanks to Joy. Thanks to Anxiety's foresight during hockey camp, we see Riley happily talking with her new friends, the Firehawks. Riley's excited smile when she looks at her phone heavily implies that she made the team (thanks to Anxiety, which helped her grow up during camp and act more mature to make a good impression on the coach.) And let's not forget that Anxiety's dictatorship only lasted three days! Riley went through three days of discomfort and unhappiness (discomfort leads to growth) in exchange for a whole year of happiness, and it's all thanks to Anxiety. I would understand the hate if Anxiety became a consistent antagonist in Riley's life who regularly held Riley back, but she was only an issue for one weekend! Thanks to the weekend of struggle, everybody (the emotions, Riley, and us) learns a lesson.
Anyway, that's why I believe Anxiety saved Riley!

I know this is a long comment but look, just because you are experiencing anxiety does not necessarily mean you have an anxiety disorder. Anxiety is there to help us prepare for danger that is ahead. When that anxiety is getting out of hand to the point that you are constantly AVOIDING certain things, situations and overly preparing for the future so that you can be "safe," it hinders you from doing everyday tasks. That's how anxiety can become "disordered." And the effects of that is a lowered self esteem as seen in the movie. When anxiety gets out of hand, it can leave us feeling worthless because we are trying to become perfect, and that isn't possible. A good sense of self/self esteem helps us realize that we aren't perfect, we are worth a while, and that need accept all parts of ourselves; the ugly & the beautiful and the movie does a good job at representing that.😊
