I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, it's painful to see what has become of TheEpicTeam, but I have to agree this was more about the journey than the destination. We grew up and I would argue we became better people because of it. There were many hurdles along the road, but sometimes the most difficult roads lead to the most beautiful destinations..
All that cheesy stuff aside, I respect your decision for making this video. As the "second" owner of this huge project I felt just as much pain as you probably did, however I decided to keep it low and disappear in the shadows, you, my friend, however continued being the public image of TheEpicTeam for the most time.
Thanks to you and all the others in TheEpicTeam who I considered as true friends at multiple points in my life, managed to change me for the better. Back then I made way too difficult and unfair rom hacks, mediocre gamemaker games and really bad unreal engine "games" if you could even call it that. Fast foward multiple years and Im an adult now, got a drivers liscence and plan on studying game design. My little projects became better and better and I also started making some nice music that doesnt consist of stolen loops but instead actual original melodies (crazy, I know).
I blame myself for many things that happened, not even because I caused it because I just didn't do enough to prevent it, almost cowardly at times, but I learned from my experiences un TheEpicTeam, just like you did.
I could probably write even more but I believe my message should be clear by now. This is my personal farewell to TheEpicTeam.

but… I feel like our disastrous approach early on isn’t really our fault. We were literally too young to know how it works, and if you look at it from a different angle, it’s quite impressive that we were able to resurrect an entire community at that age.
If you don’t plan to follow Function Point, I hope our paths cross again soon, I will miss the excitement of seeing a screenshot of what you worked on. Hope you’re doing alright :)
ok I finally woke up and that message made me choke up a lil. it's crazy how time works. it's so cool to see what you're doing now! we should catch up sometime soon
Ahhh yes, I remember the time.. wanted to be an Concept Artist for the Team, since I used to Love Epic Mickey and to draw stuff, joined the Team and created really, really bad drawings for concepts such as enemies and interactive objects like bouncy mushrooms.. Was there for a few months before I quit because of the realisation of my drawing skills.. It's interesting to hear what has happened since I was gone and what caused the closure.. I wish you good luck in the future with this new team and wish your best with this new epic Mickey mod.. ^^

@Function Point It's alright It's alright.. I wasn't there for a long time.. I was around the time when the Team began to work on small things for epic mickey 3.. I was called "Dodo" so it wasn't really a memorable Name XD.. I really only did upload some concept drawings I drew on paper and showed with the hope of contributing to the project.. It was a nice short time which I always will be remembering and thankful of.. ^~^

@Function Point Yes I am (that's why the bad english XD).. I think I was one of the last from the first batch to join the team, but also one of the first to leave for the reasons already mentioned.. Like I said it was a really nice time and I also like the people who I talked to in the team.. I even downloaded Discord only for this group XD..

a new beginning
I was literally playing epic Mickey 2 a few minutes ago and then entered TH-cam and saw this , man , this is more than just a coincidence.
Glad to finally let this be known :)
I found The Epic Team in 2017 when I was first starting out making videos myself due to my interest in the original game and ever since then I’ve stayed connected to the team, it’s been a long time and I’m glad you guys are moving on to do things you’re passionate about again although the fan games are not coming I think I really just valued the moments it took to realize that and I hope to stay connected to this group as long as I can so good job spek and everyone else. The real epic mickey 3 truly was the friends we made along the way ❤

I'm so glad that you guys are still cooking! I was just once with "spek" talk back in like 2019. (I'm from Germany by the way). I'm so happy that I was not the only who likes Epic Mickey.
I was very excited for Epic Oswald, but yeah things didn't turn great sadly. But I'm very excited for the upcoming hack!

i dont think a remake will happen full stop. but if it were to happen, it would probably come out on the switch's successor

It’s weird being mentioned in a video I happened to come across randomly 😅
Despite being on the team only during the era of 2017, maybe 2018 (I don’t remember), I still think about it pretty often. Despite all the drama that was happening, I still honestly enjoy the idea of collaborating with people around the world working on a single project. Oddly enough, I think it planted ideas for me that still live with me today.
shoutout to Sam btw he was always the goat. my man literally was the most chill on the entire team.
