If the car came supplied with halogens than that's what should be fitted for legality. If the bulbs are not E marked then its a fail but MOT testers won't start pulling bulbs out during the test. So its down to the tester. I've tried Waxergens, and now Cyberbeams in my 2007 Golf with reflector headlights and neither work as well as hoped. You really shouldn't be doing MOT's if you think they should pass. There are other reasons using LEDs or hid's in halogen units aren't acceptable, led and hid headlights have an anti fogging system built in, or have a headlight washer installed, because they don't produce the heat of a halogen bulb, which can clear internal condensation and melt external ice and snow that can build up while driving.
