    Here's a very easy way to make the speakers fit. In the speaker pocket where the built in wire relief is, carefully use a screw driver or a utility knife and press against the plastic around the edges of the wire relief to push them down and enlarge it enough so the speaker tab will fit into the relief. The plastic will bend fairly easily. Drop the speaker in the pocket. I carefully pulled the foam off the helmet liner that covers the speaker, then the liner snapped in perfectly!

      +Janet Kline I did this, but since I have a Large helmet and am on the smaller side of the size range, the speakers sounded terrible (too far from my ears)
      I ended up getting some upgraded speakers, but this is honestly a fantastic point: the relief for the wires has no structural value to the helmet, you can easily modify this portion without affecting the safety of the helmet!!
      Thanks for the tip!

    Just got a new 10R ( not SMH) which comes with some round, squishy foam spacers which have Velcro fur on one side and Velcro hooks on the other. These can be used to alleviate the fitment issues discussed in the video. New 20S might have these, but I can't be sure.
    Alternative method using these squishy spacers (no need to modify speakers):
    1. Affix thin, sticky velcro "hook" pad to speaker cutouts inside of helmet
    2. Velcro medium or thick squishy "velcro&foam" spacers to that hook pad in speaker cutout (hooked surface should be facing outward so that they stick to helmet cutout)
    3. Pull foam covers which go over speakers as far over the speakers as possible and press speakers to the hook side of the squishy spacers. Foam speaker covers should grab onto hook side of spacers
    This isn't going to win any stiction awards, but it is enough such that once the cheekpads go back in, they hold the speakers well enough to stop them from moving around. The spacers also help to press the speakers towards your ears to give better audio.

    Thanks so very much! bought a Sena 20S for my RF1200 and I hate manuals, so your video did the trick for a moron like me! sorry to say I sold my FJR1300 and bought a K1200GT.... I wanted the lower centre of gravity... loved the FJR but I had trouble keeping it upright on really slow tight corners to turns, and I'm 6-3 !! plus the seat sucks and the ugly aftermarket one I bough was really too wide and looked extra ugly,,,, should have bough t Laam like you recommended

    Thank you for showing this. I have Shoei Neotec 2 with a Sena SMH5-FM comm's set and the soft foam cover do not clip on when the speakers are install in the cut outs, however, I was able to place them over the speakers with out clipping them as the surrounding foam prevents movement of the padding so that will be my solution for now.

      Another video showed that you have to notch the cheek pad. That's how I got it to work. Odd that this video stopped before final assembly, because you'd slice the wires in half if you didn't make the notches. Also, getting it past the communicator body was no easy task and required a lot of playing with.

      I just cut part of that plastic thing attached to the cheeck pad off. Make sure to not cut the whole piece off or you won't be able to snap it back in place the way it used to be (Shoei GT-air)

    It's to bad they do not fit. The 1200 is a great helmet however it fits snug without speakers that will not fit into the recesses. I can only imagine with the speakers sticking out because they do not fit can only rub the riders ears to much. And your right, hiding the wires may be the hard part. all the more reason to show us how you did the wires.

    I'm not sure which sena I have but I just got a shoei rf-sr and surface mounted them because I didn't realize there was a cut away at all and they hurt my ears when I put the helmet on. The helmet fits well but surface mounting there is definitely not an option.

    • @TwoWheelObsession

      ....... uh, you did at 5:30 in your video. Although after I put the helmet on and realized that wasn't going to work I found the cavity and put the speakers in. It wasn't a great fit but I was able force the cover back on over it.

      Dan P Dan, I'm actually able to use the helmet's original pads, which I prefer much more over the thick pads that come with the speakers. Just remove the black ring covering the speakers, set it in the recessed pocket, and place the original helmet pads over them (there are four arms that click into place). I've had this setup for over a month now, speakers do not move at all.

    i have the 10r and the RF1200... having trouble getting the cheek pad back in without crimping the wires too much... hate to do it but looks like i'll have to cut a hole in the rubber part to get the wires under the cheek pad... any suggestions? already have crackling in the wires. the cheel pad really cant be installed as it came??

    I was attempting to install the 20s on my Rf 1200 yesterday but I feel like I damaged my foam trying to insert the clamp. For me to get access to the allen screws when the clamp is all the way in. I had to prey the foam away from the helmet pretty hard with my fingers to get the allen key some room. Did anyone have this issue during install?

    • @TwoWheelObsession
      @TwoWheelObsession  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dylan Bogusz You don't need to have the clamp THAT far in. My screws are about flush with the foam.

    • @DylanBogusz
      @DylanBogusz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess that's where I went wrong then. I noticed there was a "bump" stop on the clamp so I made sure it was on the bump. Now the foam feels weak, Hopefully I didn't ruin my helmet :(

    installing the sena clamp and having the plastic tab not fully inserted between the shell and the inner lining creates this wind noise thats unbelievably loud.... plus the sena main unit, when attached to the clamp, interferes with the helmet (too tight) the inner lining is stretched from all the installing/de-installing I've been doing for the past few days and even without the sena clamp the air seems to be perforating right through the gap between the shell / inner lining... help..?

    • @TwoWheelObsession
      @TwoWheelObsession  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have none of those issues. If you do simply use the adhesive mount.

    • @ThatCleanMT
      @ThatCleanMT 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael Howard supposed to. It's a filler piece though. If you're installing this, you aren't supposed to put it back in. This guy in the video is way wrong in thinking that the user puts that piece over the installed speaker. You don't. There's a solid wafer of plastic on that foam insert and it would essentially block your speaker sound if one managed to get it in there. Once you install a speaker, the foam/plastic insert goes away. This guy should update this or include a text update.
