Just stumbling here to say firstly, great video. Secondly to flag up that if you use a spot with another players coloured lens, the payment coin bonus they receive comes from the SUPPLY and not from the player who is using the space. 17:45 as an example. Just might make things a little easier in future plays perhaps... My work here is done :)
Nice to see you playing this great game solo. I played a few days ago my first solo game (only the base game) and it was a lot of fun. Sometimes I was a little unsure whether I had always made the right decision for Alfred. I notice that the solo rules in particular are often a little less clearly regulated as to how certain situations should be handled (particularly noticeable with Tabanussi, whose bot was a complete failure) I'm therefore looking forward to your letsplay and how you decided in some situations.
I think this is a tough bot to administer to be honest. Lots of placement rules and factors to consider. In the end though, I try not to agonize over the fringe cases too much. I just got with my gut.
The look of this reminds me a little of Through Ice and Snow, which is supposed to fulfill this year and also looks cool. I've played neither of these games but am intrigued by this one and hoping Ice and Snow shows up sometime! PS. Do you think this bot in this game is more or less complicated than Nucleum? I just learned that Nucleum bot and at first was like, good lord what am i getting myself into haha but now that one flows quite well for me! At the moment I'm working on learning the Age of Innovation bot. Us solo gamers have to be extra dedicated because it's like learning two games at once sometimes!
You are not kidding on your last sentence and sometimes that can really drive me away from the game. To answer your first question, it is similar to the learning curve of Nucleum with perhaps a tad more going on because there are more choices and actions that can be taken and more factors to consider. The toughest thing about this game as you can see clearly in the play through is that actions trigger and chain other actions. That can get confusing and you can accidentally get lost if you are not careful and make mistakes. That is even more so for the bot because in moving its ship it triggers all actions that you pass through and in moving its explorer, it triggers 1 to 2 spots plus adventures depending on what it crosses. Just a lot to juggle.
Hi John. Thank you for sharing your playthrough. I finally got to try my copy of the game after getting it a year ago 🫣 At 6:50 I’m not sure why you moved your ship 4 spaces, since you unlocked the “sail 3 spaces” action with your lens. Is there a bonus of some sort on the Fireland map?
@@JohnLaRuffa hehe, no need to feel sorry 😊 I was just making sure I wasn’t missing something as I’m trying to finally learn the game 😅 Thank you for your reply.

Thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten about this somehow during my play through, but you are correct!
I have really got to get this one to the table soon! Thanks for the video, John.

I need to crack my copies open!
I really like this game a lot!

It looks like it was just buffoonery. Sorry for the mistake!
