EXCUSE ME. There is literally only one Supermodel there: Naomi. Tyra is extremely successful (and more horrible) but Naomi was literally in The Big Five. Respect that.
Im not going to lie there is an abundance of aggravation within myself, for these two individual trail blazing black women. Breaking down barriers, with individual walks, personalities, experiences and iconic career choices and paths. Which in the likes that was not seen before. For these women to be historically & consistently whittled down too a petty comparison feud, from within the industry and media. Especially because at the time they were only around the 5% of successful black models that were given a seat at the table. I think it’s equally tiresome, to not recall or remember any caucasian models with a fued that could be compared and that was blown up & elevated to the magnitude that has almost equaled success of both of their careers.🙄
Naomi IS legendary, PERIOD. The only other model who can truly be compared to her on the catwalk is Yasmeen Ghauri. As for Tyra, I’ll never forgive her for what she put the aspiring models on ANTM through. Literally put them through hell. If anything, she owes so many of them an apology - especially the ones who she would give the worst makeovers to only to send them home the same night.

Exactly. There were many black supermodels before her. They just presented her as the first coz she was the only black girl in the girl gang of supermodels at the time. Tokenism. They should have promoted more black models. Plus it was rare to see a black British model coz of lack of diversity in the British fashion world. And she has a British accent so they considered her a novelty. But there were so many black American supermodels who weren't given a second chance after a decade of modeling. They were swept under the rug. And ppl thought Naomi was outrageous with her bad behaviour.
