    Greetings from Argentina you are special.
    Sir I admire your passion (while) teaching English.
    …In your example(absolute phrases):
    The dogs HOWLING outside.
    His favourite movie COMING on tv.
    Those words in capital letters are functioning like adjectives (as object compliments) or they simple are ing forms you have just removed their helping verbs.

      Thank you for the kind words! Appreciate it! 🌸
      Yes, these words are functioning as adjectives. 'A noun and an adjective in any form' is needed to form an absolute phrase.

    Namaste Guru Ashish,
    It is indeed an awesome video lesson. I presume that this will definitely dispel all confusions in one`s mind. Students will now do the exercises on such topic without any fear.Thanks you so much.
    To complete the lesson on Transformation of sentences, it would be great if you could add to your lists the following:
    1. Interchange of the Degrees of Comparison.
    2. Interchange of Affirmative and Negative sentences.
    3. Interchange of Interrogative and Assertive sentences.
    4. Interchange of Exclamatory and Assertive sentences.
    5. Interchange of one Part of Speech for another.
    These are very often appeared on the exam papers. Many students score low marks on such topics.
    Once again, I thank you for your hard in providing us priceless video lessons.
    With best regards,
    Fazil

    Thanks, anyway,May I ask the last one if they are all prepositional phrases. But in the first sample in first sentence ,as you said,it is a complex sentence, not a modifying phrase except except the second sentence.Is my understanding correct or wrong?
    Thank you

    • @EnglishWithAshish
      @EnglishWithAshish  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the modifying phrases, yes, thr first example was a complex sentence. "After the match ended" is a dependent clause.
