Joint Romanian - Bulgarian checkpoint for trucks in North-South direction

The purpose of the new organization of the control regime for trucks at the joint checkpoint between Romania and Bulgaria is to provide modern conditions for the truck drivers and for the employees of the inspection institutions; to reduce the risk of road accidents and to increase the safety and security of people and goods.
The inspection will be carried out in one place for both countries. After successfully passing the inspection, the trucks will cross the Danube River on the new combined rail and road bridge and without stopping for inspection in Bulgaria will move to the South destinations.
The waiting area is for 370 trucks and trailers. It helps to avoid the long lines of waiting trucks at the border crossings.
Other buffer parkings are designed along the route of the future Bucharest-Giurgiu motorway, where the drivers will be able to have a rest.
