A trip along the route of the Danube Aegean Sea Motorway

The length of the Danube-Aegean Sea Motorway in Romania is 56,240 km. It starts from the new road junction Pruni at the new AO Bucharest Ring Motorway, into which flows from the east, north and west enter. In the section form Pruni to the border with Bulgaria near Giurgiu there are 7 road junctions.
The crossing over the Danube River is by a new combined railway and road bridge.
On the Bulgarian territory, the route stretches over 326,520 km from the Romanian border to the border with Greece. From North to South the motorway connects Hemus, Trakia and Maritsa motorways as well as the main roads in the East - West direction. It passes Stara Planina mountain through the Passage of the Republic. Through a new road junction Alexandrovo and on Maritsa Motorway is the connection with Turkey. The road junctions in Bulgaria are 38 and their location secures access and maximum use of the motorway from the economic centers Rousse, Veliko Tarnovo / G. Oryahovitsa / Lyaskovets, Stara Zagora / Nova Zagora, Haskovo / Dimitrovgrad, Kardzhali / Momchilgrad.
The route of the Danube-Aegean Sea Motorway is outside the existing roads. They are preserved; there is a possibility for their alternative use and for servicing the adjacent territories.
The Danube-Aegean Sea Motorway enters Greece at the Makaza Pass. The route in Greece is 21,540 km, of which 10,200 km is new construction and 11,340 km is reconstruction and doubling of existing road. The final point of the motorway is Egnatia Odos Motorway road junction № 38 at Komotini - East.
