I'm so sorry for your loss, Koroto. Take all the time you need, I've been enjoying this series so much so that's the biggest gift anyone could ask for. look after yourself. im so pissed im away this weekend so im gonna miss the finale! see you on the other side bros!!!
Exactly what I have been saying ! Just like Paradis is Asgard, and the Scouts are the Aesir ( Erwin-Tyr , Hange-Odin, Levi-Thor). As for Grisha, Zeke, and Eren, they are the most mysterious for me. But my best would be Grisha-Loki , Eren-Fenrir, Zeke-Jormugandr. Loki (Grisha) being a Titan than joined the gods later in Asgard ( Paradis), and being the father of the wolf Fenrir, and the giant serpent. ( I am not sure if I can explain more than this since a lot of it is also based on the ending, which would make it a spoiler). Eren also displays a lot of Loki behavior so it gets confusing, but again, I guess since Eren ate Grisha, he represents Loki as well. I would love to find a final answer to this shit lol.
@@mauratlantean3002Interesting idea- Personally always considered a different approach. Sortof feel aot took the myths, crushed them into a powder and snorted it out of order (aot's time, retroactivity etc) This one is a doozy and pretty much everything I assume. Warning, spoilers for the manga and the part that's yet to release tommorow, long as hell too much to read. _ The Eldians are Jotunn, the royal bloods are Aesir, and the Ackermanns are Vanir. Ymir would be Hel. The whole Eldian family tree would be the world tree, the Giant Ymir that was the foundation of the world and all that jazz. Eren I'd put as a lot of things. Loki for leading the armies of the dead, taking over from Hel. Mimir for being a severed head. Odin for the way he entered Marley, also the connection to birds, the two crows at the start of the story and such. Hange is Odin too tho (one eye, refers to Odin hanging off Yggdrasil), so there's likely the case of overlapping myths. The shifters I'd categorize as more their own seperate aspects. Also there's 9 of them, the number of realms. Colossal - Surtr and the Colossals in the wall the Fire Giants. Eldians - elding, germanic word for fuel or firewood Armored - Hrungnir - stone giant easily beaten by Thor (I don't consider any of the characters a specific Thor equivalent so: thunder spears) Female - Sinmara - her name is considered to be a combination of sinew and nightmare, considered Surtrs wife Attack - Odin, for the future/past shenanigans Beast - Loki, for the variety of bestial forms Jaw - Fenrir, for obvious reasons - Vedrfolnir (or whatever the bird on top of Yggdrasil is called) for Falco Cart - Skoll and Hati - endurance, longest transformation Warhammer - Svartalfar, Dark elves or Dwarves, the ability to conjure stuff out of thin air Founder - Hel, the paths and the armies of the dishonored dead (all the shifters Eren summons with Doomsday) Some of the shifters are more mixes of other myths on their own, and others are more in-line with their titans. On to the Ackermanns. I kid you not the main reason I consider them Vanir are: love. Mikasa and Levi would be Freya and Freyr. Both have love as a key element in their design... I kid you not when I read Isayama designed Levi to be the body-pillow salesboy it clicked. Freyr is a love deity. Also the fact he doesn't let go of his sword before the final battle is a nice nod to the myth (he dies because he doesn't have a magic sword) That and, that one panel/trailer scene where Mikasa is shown with wings. This leaves the Ljosalfar, or Light elves. I say it's Hizuru but my only real proof for the theory are 2 present in the story and one retroactive time bs assumption. Mikasa and the headaches (also the connection to butterflies, I've only found a google search connect butterfies to Freya, and prophecies ascribed to the Vanir) Hizuru, pronounced Hiizuru means Sunrise (a direct translation of Hizuru is distort dk what to do with that) - basically something light related Complete speculation: due to the kid that gets the titan powers in the future likely being Mikasa's descendant, it could mean that at least Mikasa's family line become the next "Titan race" explains how Ymir could enter Mikasa's mind despite her being an Ackermann (supposed to be immune to memory bs) And last but not least, locations. Asgard/Muspelheim - heaven/hell - Paradis. Yeah I consider it to be both. A faint, short-lived paradise and realm of the Fire giants. This makes the Scouts Einherjars and Valkyries in my eyes. Marley and most of the supercontinet - Midgard, humans. Niflheim - wherever Ymir found the worm, the worm would be Nidhoggr (dragon that feeds off the roots of Yggdrasil) which makes me wonder, it likely means the Titan tree is the main source of the power, explains why the worm and it's influence could be severed and the Titan curse could be lifted, while the power itself - whatever its extent, still remains. There that's it, hope someone someday at least checks with the myths better than I could (google searches and just what personally I know)
@@CrashBandicootFan100 I definitely agree with you when it comes to "crushing and mixing" the mythological aspects together, which would explain why there are multiple interpretations. It is better this way anyway because literally replicating Norse mythology would have been boring. Still, you seem to have a much deeper understanding and knowledge of Norse mythology than I do ( only surfave level for me), which would give you a far broader perspective. Still let me tell you how I came to my conclusions and see how it compares. Please correct me If I get some mythological aspects wrong. MANGA SPOILERS .... - I went for Eren being Fenrir, since he was basically a "Titan" amongst the gods (people of paradis), who had to be restrained since they were afraid of what he could be ( HUGE emphasis on restriction since Eren whole character is about seeking freedom) . The god of war Tyr ( Erwin) took him under his wing ( joined the survey corps). Fenrir is responsible for Ragnarok, even ends up killing Odin (Hange). And Finally, during Ragnarok, he ends up being killed by Vidar (Armin or Mikasa). I always thought Armin would be Vidar, but a strong hint on him being Mikasa is that he is the 2nd strongest Aesir after Thor ( Levi). It could be Armin since he avenged his predecessor Hange ( Odin) and became commander of the Survey corps ( leader of the gods). -Now for Thor being Levi, the strongest hint is him being the strongest ( pretty straightforward right ? ), but there is more, I also based my conclusion from the fact that him and Jormugandr ( Zeke ) Have a fierce rivalry, and that on their 3rd battle ( final chapters), Thor finally ends up killing Jormugandr. So yes my sole arguments for Zeke is that he is the son of Grisha ( Loki) , and killed by Levi ( Thor). Still Thor is supposed to die afterwards which didn't happen to Levi. -Hange/Odin : 1 eye, falls in a well , extremely curious and knowledgeable, thunder spears, dies in Ragnarok ( that's all I have lol) -I already explained for Grisha being Loki, But I also said that Eren "inherited" the Loki inside him by eating him. There are many parrallels betweem Eren and Loki, but the one I want to talk about is Loki causing Baldur's (Sasha) death by Höðr's (Gabi) hand. -Baldur ( Sasha),the favorite of the gods, whose death causes Ragnarok ( Rumbling). Hodr (Gabi) is manipulated by Loki ( not really how it happens in aot, but eren still "caused" it) to kill Baldur, his twin brother. I think they deliberately made Sasha and Gabi look similar. -As for Freya, i always thought it was Frieda just cause of the name and Royalty status, I do not have much knowledge regarding the Vanir, but your description of them being Ackermann seems like it makes sense to me for some reason ( since the Vanir were different kind of gods, previously in conflict with the aesir, but now in alliance with them). -As for Hel being Ymir, do you mean it is the Orphan Ymir or the Founder Ymir ? Because I also came to the conclusion that Founder Ymir represents Hel ( as well as the first giant Ymir obviously). In the last moments before the rumbling, Zeke Eren and Ymir ( All sons of Loki) are together in paths realm, and then it (Ragnarok) starts. -Also I forgot to mention something about the Etymology of Eldia, for me it seems like it comes from the German world Erd ( Meaning Earth). Remember that Japanese pronunciation draws no distinction between L and R. This would make more sense to me to draw the parrallel between Eldia ( Earth) and Marley ( Mare, Sea). -But yeah, with all that being said, It really is hard to understand if Eren represents Fenrir, Loki, Odin, Jormugande, damn even f*cking Surtr. Anyway I like your perspective, I'm interested in seeing what you think of mine. PS : some other quick, less likely, guesses : -Armin , Bragi ( If not Vidar) -Miche , Heimdall -Connie, Hermod -Zeke, Skrymir
I have always stood by the Eren and Mikasa scene as being one of the most cinematic moments in the series. The camera angles, the lightning, the voice acting, the music, all culminate in a spectacular way. Mikasa saying 'thank you' over and over always gets me teary eyed.
A declaration of his intention to fight against impending doom*, that doubles as an indirect confession, feels like an extremely "Eren" thing-- so Isayama's shyness worked out great. *I disagree with Koroto, here-- I'm sure Eren only knew that he was effectively flailing, but resolved to fight and MAAAAAAAAAAAAYBE win instead of not fighting and certainly dying. I say I'm sure, because he doesn't know who the Smiling Titan is at this point.
@@TheJotaroKujo Probably went with the ink he put on his marriage contract. That, and he was belting out some serious "heavy metal album art"-tier compositions in the last few chapters, and that kiss was one of them.
Yeah I think another interpretation is that Zeke is testing their strength, like Captain Riko, Nanaba and Ymir all think when questioning the motives and strategy used for the pure titans attacking throughout season 2. That has a double meaning in that Paradis isnt quite ready just yet to defend against a Marley invasion, or alternatively not just yet ready for Zeke to put his own plans into action.
Imagine having a friend like young Eren, then learn he has the power to destroy the world if he gets triggered. Damn right "the last person who should have that power"
@@josemexicanmexican7602 I think I see a lot of myself in Reiner. Too worried about protecting and lifting up his comrades, allowing himself to drown in a pit of despair borne from his own sins.
The scene that zooms out from Erwin only to end up focusing on Zeke, who's contrasted with the sky; on top of the Beast Titan which is also sitting in a sort of meditating position; with his glasses shining and obscuring his face is still bone-chilling. Also, I'm sorry for your loss:( I hope things can get better, and that, whoever that person might've be, they're in a better place now 💜 Stay strong brother!
Hey koro, I just lost my dad two months ago and I know how you feel. But I can't thank you enough for all the work you do. AOT has been a part of my life since I was 13 and you are a part of that too. Listening to your videos feels like talking with a good friend and has helped me a lot these past few months. So yeah, even though you're hurting, never forget how much you did for me and so many other people. Take care of yourself for us, okay?
Ymir didn't save Reiner and Bert to protect Historia... She considered her protected enough, with Eren revealed as a founder. She saved them because Bert asked for someone to save them. And she knew she is the only one who can understand and help them. After all she is selfless goddess.
nah man this is what makes me mad.. Reiner and Bert destroyed lives of many inside the walls.. ymir didn't owe them shit.. she promised herself she'd live for herself only but then all of a sudden ran away with those two leaving the most precious person to her behind.. it just doesn't make sense to me other than Eren was probably manipulating her to leave so that Historia ends up pregnant with that Farmer guy 🤦♀️
@@waytoguidanceYou completely misinterpreted that scene then. Ymir saving Reiner and Bert was not one of selflessness but the exact opposite. Ymir obviously knew she would not have gotten away with hiding her titan powers and then siding with the traitors and killing a scout member, so therefore she had two options: 1. Sacrifice her freedom just to make Historia happy 2. Go out on her own terms by saving the only people who understands her struggle She chose to abandon Historia and live true to herself. Throughout season 2, Ymir has kind of been a hypocrite, telling Historia to stop sacrificing herself but then doing the same thing for her, until that final moment, when Ymir finally sticked true to her beliefs and chose her personal freedom over Historia. And in doing so, she ended up coming across as a "selfless person" which is very ironic considering that has been what she criticised Historia for trying to do, but in this case, it is done with the exact opposite context. It is a perfectly phenomenally brilliant conclusion to her character arc. And you people misinterpret that by thinking her actions were selfless for whatever the fck reason.
@@waytoguidance really dude? They go over it pretty clearly, the thing she feels she owes them is literally her second chance at life, the only reason she escaped the hell of being a pure titan was because of their invasion, she is more like an impartial third party to this conflict, you can't look at her character as being on the side of the paradisians. But still, this is not the only reason she went with them, there's also the angle of buying more time for Historia within the walls, and also to "save" herself from being interrogated and no longer trusted like before. She didn't "leave behind the most precious person to her", all she cared about was that Historia would be safe, not that she'd be with her forever because she knew she was on a timelimit anyway. Yes she said she'd live only for herself, but here's the thing, these characters are not one dimensional, one thing can be true at first, and then that thing can change later on with new developements. This is something I see so many people struggle to understand about this story. We even see her grappling with the idea that she was supposed to live only for herself but now she's doing things that doesn't align with that philosophy. She can tell herself to do something all she wants, but at the end of the day she might not be able to because the decision is too painful. She wants to live only for herself, to be selfish, but her true character won't let her be like that and at the end she acts very very selflessly.
Eren and mikasa is kinda like if water and oil loved each other. Even though they both know that they can't mix properly due to their makeup, they continue to adore each other anyway. To start with I think you have to keep in mind that as horrible as the situation behind their meeting was regarding Mikasa's parents being murdered and her almost meeting a similar fate, for Mikasa, Eren saving her is always looked at as one of the happiest moments in her life. Cause he helped her when she had nothing. The key importance though is that their definitions of saving are very opposed to each other. In Mikasa's eyes what saves her is Eren simply offering her home out of the kindness of his heart with no ulterior motive but to help her. That's what earns Mikasa's attachment to Eren and later evolves into love. To Eren, him saving her was picking up the knife and killing those men. He still fully was committed to saving her life but the physical act of keeping her safe is at the forefront to him rather than simply keeping her warm. Flashforward to Eren's mom and dad dying they start to develop the traits that will lead to their early conflict with each other. Mikasa due to losing her family twice is insanely dedicated to keeping Eren safe no matter what. She is horrified at the thought of losing any more family. This, in turn, frustrates Eren because he views it as a personal mission to keep protecting Mikasa, both because that's how their relationship began and because his mother told him to do so. It isn't until Diana that these two starts to mend up their early disputes in full. Upon the verge of death, Eren breaks down in grief that he was useless and unable to change anything. Mikasa stops him just to thank him for being part of her life and reassures him that just being by her side made her truly happy. This refires Eren's will to live, and he follows it up by making the trademark promise to wrap Mikasa's scarf around her forever. After this point, they more or less beat around the bush as they grow closer in a healthier direction. The words are very important as they hammer home the constant theme in regard to one of the overall relationships and tone of the story. The world is cruel and merciless, but it is also very beautiful. Typically, whenever Mikasa and Eren are having an intimate moment it is usually juxtaposed by it being in a horrible situation either immediately or close to one. Their initial connection is formed after Mikasa's parents are murdered, the closest they come pre-time-skip to a proper confession is while the rest of the SC and Hannes are getting slaughtered in the background. And of course, now we have Mikasa and Eren having all cards on the table confession on the eve of Eren wandering off to start his horrific endgame. This is mostly emphasized by Mikasa's POV highlighting the beauty in the world while Eren counters this by most of his POV is the cruelty of it. At the core of the relationship, there's no real Ackerman bond or Founder related influence as far as why they are attached to each other. They are just 2 kids who met in a horrible situation that happened to grow to love each other over time. The only major thing of note as far as Mikasa's feelings are concerned is that for her she is simply content and happy just being next to Eren. She doesn't need her developing feelings returned to be happy. She just wants Eren to be Eren. That's enough. However, she does reach a very troublesome snag. Ymir's curse. She never brings it up but the knowledge that Eren is destined to leave her early kinda messes her up. She's already troubled by the thought of losing more people she loves so Eren dying so young is something she never really gels with and has trouble with even up til the final arc. To summarize that Mikasa's endgame arc isn't about renouncing her love for Eren, it's about letting go of the fear of losing Eren that's eaten at her since their initial meeting. Which she can accomplish in Trost but struggles with much more here given the situation and her feelings having bloomed into full-on love/vice versa Mikasa's love for Eren is a lot more blatant and explored while Eren's is very subtle but still there from pretty early on, at least platonically. Ya know Eren is someone who dives headfirst in his pursuit of freedom? If ya go back to early on when he's trying to convince the rest of his friends to join the SC he backtracks when Mikasa states she is doing so as well and tells her to join the MPs instead. This is due to his desire to keep her off the frontlines despite knowing how strong she is. This is alluded to much later on when Falco is talking to Eren about wanting to protect a warrior candidate much more talented than him. Mikasa is consistently the one person Eren will go against his own selfish and dangerous nature for out of immense care and overtime love. This is why he takes so much comfort and importance in her love later on in the series as he views it as the only thing that could get him to consider not going through with the rumbling. To Eren, being able to be loved and thought of as the beauty of Mikasa's world til he dies is worth giving up that innate hunger for freedom. Another early example is when Eren's on trial and I think it serves as the main gist of the endgame. When the court is deeming Eren to be a monster he keeps his mouth shut and says nothing. The minute Mikasa is assumed to also be a monster he pipes up and says the following: "I may be a monster, but Mikasa has nothing to do with that!" No matter how far Eren sinks into sin at the end of the day, Mikasa's happiness and well-being is at the forefront of his most notable displays of humanity. The love between the 2 characters is genuine from the start to the final arc. That never changes throughout every tragedy in this show. What does change though is the world around them and as that changes and Eren's own nature remains the same(in part due to Founder PTSD) what constitutes keeping Mikasa as happy as can be in Eren's eyes no longer becomes him(due to knowing he will go on to wipe humanity) so he tries to push her away even though he does genuinely love the girl. The rest of it is mostly Mikasa coming to terms with the love of her life doing evil stuff and wanting to stop him despite still loving him to the moon and back. Ultimately, they do have the same desire to be together at peace but the way they react to the world around them threatens their ability to do so spirals into this mess TL;DR They are in part heavily traumatized kids that developed an incredibly strong unwavering sense of unconditional love for each other that is continuously tested by the harsh world around them incorporating factors that keep prevent them from acting on these feelings.
There's no rush getting these out man, take the time to properly grieve. Even if you go on a long hiatus, we'll be here when you get back. You don't owe us anything at all, but you damn sure owe yourself the proper rest and care you deserve. I hope you find the peace you're looking for.
In retrospect I think the 'not just yet' from Zeke makes the most sense as a response to him sensing Eren activating his powers, thinking the Rumbling was about to begin, and then noting that the wall titans weren't emerging from the wall he was on, and so it wasn't happening yet.
Sorry for your loss man. Take as much time as you need. Don’t let anything rush you. Your AOT and TWD breakdowns give me (and so many others) life and i know they’ll come out when the time is right. We nerds appreciate you.
A personal interpretation for me with the Mikasa's confession was that this is the inverse of Mikasa remembering Eren telling her to fight. There Mikasa has to recall her own philosophy "The world is cruel but also beautiful" as well as "If you don't fight you can't win". It's the combination that let's her fight on, in her own David vs the Goliath moment. Here, It's Mikasa's turn to help Eren embrace both of this philosophies. The "What" to do , In Eren’s idea of always fighting , and Mikasa's "why", in the beauty of the world. Hence the use of pathetic fallacy as light literally floods back into the scene, exposing us and Eren to the beauty of nature around them and Mikasa (herself or the idea of love)
4:54 the expression in Hannes’s face is amazing because I can interpret it as fear, recklessness, bravery and the animation really captures it when he is looking at Eren and Mikasa.
Hey mate, This is legit my favourite series on TH-cam and I really look forward to your releases. Although, after hearing your message at the end I just wanted to say thank you for the work but take as long as you need. Normally, I can't stand waiting for your next but your well being comes first.
Hey dude, I hope you are ok. Thank so much for this wonderful series, but please, take the time you need to deal with the loss you just had. Sending you a virtual hug through the paths ❤
Oh my god. What an ending. I ANXIOUSLY await an overanalyzing or your interpretation of the last episode. There was so much to unpack and I'm left with as many new questions as answers. Thanks so much. Love your channel.
Keep your head up man. Your videos were definitely something to look forward to during my own recent rough patch. Thanks for that, and I hope all these comments can show how appreciated you are and help pick you up!
I’ve been slowly making my way through your videos since three series ended. They are always incredible, and I’ve really grown attached to your story telling, humor, and analysis. It’s just perfect. So so sorry to hear about the tragedy in your life
I’m so sorry for your loss. I know it’s no real consolation, but I’m always so excited whenever I see that you’ve dropped a new AOT Overanalyzed! It’s one of my favorite series on TH-cam, so I just want you to know how much I appreciate the work you’ve put into all of this. It’s made me enjoy AOT even more than I did before 😊 (especially since I’m also an anime only fan and have spent literal years dodging manga spoilers, so I like how you’re only focusing on the anime so I don’t have to worry about accidentally getting spoilers before the end of the anime premieres)
My deepest condolences for your loss, Koroto. Please take all the time you need to process everything, and thank you for everything you’ve done for us with this series… it’s easily one of my favorite series on TH-cam!
Hi Korotos, been watching this series for a while and I just love it. To add to your analysis, after everyone returns and are done talking to Eren, we see Jean and Armin walking. Jean asks "Does exterminating _them_ by turning into monsters make it _our_ victory?". Knowing the events of S4, this kind of feels like it refers to future Eren's actions and the dilemma the scouts will go through before they decide to stop Eren.
I literally only just finished the last one a couple hours ago, i watched the whole retrospective over 2 days lol, amazing retrospective, goose approved, thanks koroto
Doubled checked myself: it's not a Sunday, why am I receiving such a gift ?? 😂😂😂 I'm so excited for today's analysis! 🎉 Edit: I'm so sorry you're going through something like that. 😢 Take your time, we'll support you and respect your time, the most important thing right now is for you to honour your feelings and yourself. I'm so sorry for your loss. 😓
hey man, your stuff is really cool. I already learned a lot about writing good stories by watching you analyse aot. I wish you a lot of strenght for dealing with the loss of yours
Great video as always!! For the innocent song, I felt watching the episodes again recently, that this song was reminiscent of the lullaby at the end of nausicaa. Obviously the instrumentation is similar, but I feel they have a similar “lull.” There could also be something from like children’s choirs in general, but I’m not very familiar with their interpretation in music historically.
Something that is left out in the anime that I love in the manga is historia DOES break down over ymir leaving! The manga really does have a lot of beautiful lil character moments that sadly got cut. Also hope ur doing okay 🫶
Korotos, if you want an interesting speculation on what would happen if Ymir stayed on Paradis, it would be even worse for the warriors than what you described. The Nen Hunter has an excellent video on this but he writes this scenario so that on top of losing the Jaw and Female Titans, Bertholdt gets eaten as well, losing Marley 3 titan shifters.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you and your loved ones get through this time to the best of your abilities. Just take it moment by moment that’s all you can do, feel everything you need to feel. Love and support to you and yours 🫶🏽🤍
Even though I am more than two months late, I want to extend my deepest condolences to you. Grief and loss is never easy, so take all the time you need, Koroto. Your grief is a statement of love and it honors those you have lost.
The Ymir Historia relationship in my opinion is essentially perfect Also the scene with Eren and Mikasa with the scarf just absolutely kills me every time 😭
@@D14MBK nah . It's the farmer . Historia needed someone to consistently look after her household and kid while she rules and manages the orphanage; someone who will be present in the kid's life, someone who will do everything she says without a question: that person is a common farmer who was wrecked with the guilt of having bullied her as a kid and has now pledged unquestioning loyalty to her . Eren was totally against Historia getting pregnant out of nowhere and risking her body , reputation and her kid . Eren would never sleep with her . Historia's heart died with Ymir , so she entered a marriage of convenience, and having a reckless , unstable dude with suicidal tendencies isn't good for that kinda marriage.
@@Some_guy_passing_by Eren was against Historia having a child to be used in a cycle, not her having a child out of love. So no he wouldn't be against that
Im so sorry to hear of your loss. Im a lurker but your videos have reignited my imagination for this and many other stories. I pray you will find peace. Thank you.
28:10 my head canon is that even just like a tiny bit of Dina’s titan blood managed to fly onto him or in his mouth or something so he was still able to retain it for a little longer. It’s a stretch but it’s the best I can think of
that's pretty good, my headcanon was that right as Zeke was killed, Eren manually stopped the rumbling himself, otherwise it would've continued indefinitely, and he only knew to do that because of this experience
Sorry for your loss. I love your videos. Your perspective on the show helps me see things that I overlooked and also makes the show much greater than I already think it is!!
At 42:32 Erwin says "the wall barring us from the truth will fall". Later on when Eren starts the rumbling, that is the time that the walls literally fall and the Marleyans start to work together with Eren's friends. It's at this time when the wall falls that the truth is finally spoken about between everyone, all the sins of each character laid out by Yelena and all barriers of communication finally removed. It took the rumbling, where the sound is so loud that you cannot speak to anyone even right next to you, to finally hear the voices of your enemy and talk it out for the first time ever.
I just got to the end of your video 44:39 and I want to say that I heard and understand any future complications with uploads will be met with full patience and understanding… I am an AOT fan after all I am fine with waiting, Sorry for your loss and I hope all gets better for you.
Having him saying that he doesn't want to go to dark for anime and then ending with that outro left me speechless. I'm so sorry koroto, you're a smart guy i know you can do it! Sending lots of love to you
I have spent the last one and a half years understanding the Internet and wireless communication, dispelling the magic. The analogue hit perfectly 41:50
Hey man I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. These types of things can and will absolutely devastate people, and I just want to say that regardless of what happens or the circumstances, take as long as you need to grieve. We’ll all respect your wishes and feelings. May God bless you.
Gotta say, SO HAPPY you brought up the music in this episode! Attack on D and Barricades are my favorite songs in AOT, and I tihk what you said on it was perfect!
Tbh, the only thing I don't like about this timeloop shenanigans it's the suggestion that Eren orchestrated a lot of decisions that should be of the other characters' agency, you know? It's as if actions/decisions have less weight considering that it was Eren from the future who controlled them.
I have been listening to your videos for 10 hours straight. Thank you so much for your work. I’m sorry I can’t watch them at work but I’m sure the video is as great as the audio.
Finally, I have caught up with this series - and just after the last AOT episode aired too. Which, firstly, I just want to say it's absolutely insane to me how much of the ending you predicted. Like, I read the manga already so watching this series and listening to you come up with so many predictions that are spot-on right was just. Like, wow. Are you sure you're not using the power of the Attack Titan yourself?! Secondly, I want to thank you again for these amazing analyses. I must admit that season 2 was probably the season I tended to think about the least - which is probably largely due to the fact that I watched the first season in 2015 and absolutely did NOT manage to avoid spoilers about the identity of the Armored & Colossal, as well as Ymir being a shifter too, until the second season finally came out. So being able to go through this season again with you putting so much weight on every episode just made me come to appreciate it so much more than I did before. And just in general, I love that you create this space for us all to come together and discuss this phenomenal show in such detail. It's just amazing. Also, I'm sorry for your loss, Koroto. Take all the time you need, your series is very much worth any wait so we'll wait patiently until the next time we get to overanalyze Attack on Titan together! Sending you much positive energy right now.
You have our condolences, and I think I speak for everyone when I say; It'll take the time it takes for the next episode to come out. None of us ever wants to rush you, so I hope you don't stress about it, and come back if and when you feel that its right for you. - Your Village
Mikasa comforting Eren is my favorite scene in this entire show. The music and the emotions coupled with her letting him know that he is not powerless. Also I LOVE the dub and how Eren promises to always wrap the scarf around Mikasa. It's just so powerful and the finale of the story absolutely calls back to that.
I'm very sorry for your loss. I really enjoy from all the work you make with this series, so I'll be here along the way no matter how long it takes. Thanks a lot for each one of this videos and for all the ones to come. You truly inspire me to keep going with some long proyects I've been pretty stucked with. I mean, this is a seriously long proyect and your dedication to it is evident to me. So, really, lots of thanks again!!!

This has become one of my favorite series to keep up with. You’re doing a great job!! So sorry for your loss hope you can recover well and still enjoy the banger tomorrow❤️
I think Ymir's sacrifice is explained further if we fully understand her character: she's a hypocrite. She is always reminding Historia to live her own life without thinking or sacrificing for others, yet she's ALWAYS sacrificing for others. She sacrificed herself in Marley in order to save her fellow worshipers, she almost sacrificed herself trying to defend her comrades in Utgard's Castle (and only stopped because Historia told her to) and she finally sacrifices herself here in order to save Reiner and Berthold (and, of course, Historia), because she knows Marley isn't going to tolerate as big of a loss as losing both the Jaws and the Female without any consequences to them. That's why Berthold thanks her at the end. She might be cocky and cold-hearted in the outside, but in the end she's one of the most empathetic characters in the story.
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. That's always hard. Take care of yourself and process your loss. We will patiently wait for your epic videos! 💯

Erwin losing the arm pretty much cements him as Tyr in the Nordic myth comparisons
damn, ur kinda right haha, didnt think about that
Exactly what I have been saying !
In Tolkien's legendarium there is a character who gets his arm eaten by huge wolf Carcharoth. His name's Beren. Nordic mythology connection as well.
@@mauratlantean3002Interesting idea-
Personally always considered a different approach. Sortof feel aot took the myths, crushed them into a powder and snorted it out of order (aot's time, retroactivity etc)
This one is a doozy and pretty much everything I assume.
Warning, spoilers for the manga and the part that's yet to release tommorow, long as hell too much to read.
_
The Eldians are Jotunn, the royal bloods are Aesir, and the Ackermanns are Vanir.
Eldians - elding, germanic word for fuel or firewood
Armored - Hrungnir - stone giant easily beaten by Thor (I don't consider any of the characters a specific Thor equivalent so: thunder spears)
Female - Sinmara - her name is considered to be a combination of sinew and nightmare, considered Surtrs wife
Attack - Odin, for the future/past shenanigans
Beast - Loki, for the variety of bestial forms
Jaw - Fenrir, for obvious reasons - Vedrfolnir (or whatever the bird on top of Yggdrasil is called) for Falco
Cart - Skoll and Hati - endurance, longest transformation
Warhammer - Svartalfar, Dark elves or Dwarves, the ability to conjure stuff out of thin air
Founder - Hel, the paths and the armies of the dishonored dead (all the shifters Eren summons with Doomsday)
Some of the shifters are more mixes of other myths on their own, and others are more in-line with their titans.
Also the fact he doesn't let go of his sword before the final battle is a nice nod to the myth (he dies because he doesn't have a magic sword)
That and, that one panel/trailer scene where Mikasa is shown with wings.
This leaves the Ljosalfar, or Light elves.
I say it's Hizuru but my only real proof for the theory are 2 present in the story and one retroactive time bs assumption.
Mikasa and the headaches (also the connection to butterflies, I've only found a google search connect butterfies to Freya, and prophecies ascribed to the Vanir)
Hizuru, pronounced Hiizuru means Sunrise (a direct translation of Hizuru is distort dk what to do with that) - basically something light related
Complete speculation: due to the kid that gets the titan powers in the future likely being Mikasa's descendant, it could mean that at least Mikasa's family line become the next "Titan race" explains how Ymir could enter Mikasa's mind despite her being an Ackermann (supposed to be immune to memory bs)
And last but not least, locations.
-Hange/Odin : 1 eye, falls in a well , extremely curious and knowledgeable, thunder spears, dies in Ragnarok ( that's all I have lol)
-I already explained for Grisha being Loki, But I also said that Eren "inherited" the Loki inside him by eating him.
PS : some other quick, less likely, guesses :
-Armin , Bragi ( If not Vidar)
-Miche , Heimdall
-Connie, Hermod
-Zeke, Skrymir
I have always stood by the Eren and Mikasa scene as being one of the most cinematic moments in the series. The camera angles, the lightning, the voice acting, the music, all culminate in a spectacular way. Mikasa saying 'thank you' over and over always gets me teary eyed.
Same man its so underrated in my opinion its one of my favorite scenes in the show
It's too bad she turns into a man in final season, i miss classic mikasa.

Where did that shyness go with the necrokiss
@@TheJotaroKujo He was dead, so there was no pressure on her
A declaration of his intention to fight against impending doom*, that doubles as an indirect confession, feels like an extremely "Eren" thing-- so Isayama's shyness worked out great.
The "not just yet" could also be a foreshadowing on zekes plan he wants to carry out. Better said him telling himself its not time yet
I didn't expect to get this before the actual finale but I'm so glad we did
Imagine having a friend like young Eren, then learn he has the power to destroy the world if he gets triggered. Damn right "the last person who should have that power"
I picture myself being a dumb version of Armin. I'm weak, but loyal and I like my strong friends to be very strong.
@@josemexicanmexican7602Omg same
@@josemexicanmexican7602 I think I see a lot of myself in Reiner.
I just love that scene of Ymir saying goodbye to Historia, it's a reflection of the image of Ymir and the demon.
I love that I picked up on that myself before I started watching this series
Oh. Good point
nah man this is what makes me mad..
Ymir obviously knew she would not have gotten away with hiding her titan powers and then siding with the traitors and killing a scout member, so therefore she had two options:
1. Sacrifice her freedom just to make Historia happy
2. Go out on her own terms by saving the only people who understands her struggle
She chose to abandon Historia and live true to herself.
Which she can accomplish in Trost but struggles with much more here given the situation and her feelings having bloomed into full-on love/vice versa
Mikasa's love for Eren is a lot more blatant and explored while Eren's is very subtle but still there from pretty early on, at least platonically.
The minute Mikasa is assumed to also be a monster he pipes up and says the following: "I may be a monster, but Mikasa has nothing to do with that!"
No matter how far Eren sinks into sin at the end of the day, Mikasa's happiness and well-being is at the forefront of his most notable displays of humanity.
Ultimately, they do have the same desire to be together at peace but the way they react to the world around them threatens their ability to do so spirals into this mess
TL;DR They are in part heavily traumatized kids that developed an incredibly strong unwavering sense of unconditional love for each other that is continuously tested by the harsh world around them incorporating factors that keep prevent them from acting on these feelings.

Bro you definitely don't give yourself enough credit. Most of the time you're right about those over analysis moments. The meaning IS that deep.
In retrospect I think the 'not just yet' from Zeke makes the most sense as a response to him sensing Eren activating his powers, thinking the Rumbling was about to begin, and then noting that the wall titans weren't emerging from the wall he was on, and so it wasn't happening yet.
sorry to hear about your loss, sending you strength. thank you for working hard on this series despite everything.

you know it gonna be a good dinner when you have a new aot retrospective to watch alongside it
A personal interpretation for me with the Mikasa's confession was that this is the inverse of Mikasa remembering Eren telling her to fight.

This still remains my favourite eren and mikasa scene so beautiful and hannes death was the first time i cried watching an anime
I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you and your loved ones get through this time to the best of your abilities. Just take it moment by moment that’s all you can do, feel everything you need to feel. Love and support to you and yours 🫶🏽🤍
The last video released before the finale. I'm not ready.
Sorry for your loss bro :(
these videos are almost as good as AOT itself, thanks for making them.
Even though I am more than two months late, I want to extend my deepest condolences to you. Grief and loss is never easy, so take all the time you need, Koroto. Your grief is a statement of love and it honors those you have lost.
Korotos: “What’s the point of losing an arm and dying”
Me: “I dunno, good question, let’s ask Gohan”
Take your time. We will be waiting
The Ymir Historia relationship in my opinion is essentially perfect
Also the scene with Eren and Mikasa with the scarf just absolutely kills me every time 😭
Same
Historia confirmed bi not lesbo. That farmer impregnated her with his seed
@@thelegacyofgaming2928*Eren
It’s a stretch but it’s the best I can think of
That is genius! This is now my head canon!
that's pretty good, my headcanon was that right as Zeke was killed, Eren manually stopped the rumbling himself, otherwise it would've continued indefinitely, and he only knew to do that because of this experience
Sorry for your loss. I love your videos. Your perspective on the show helps me see things that I overlooked and also makes the show much greater than I already think it is!!
43:12 When this first Aired I thought that Zeke was Erwin’s father / teacher
At 42:32 Erwin says "the wall barring us from the truth will fall". Later on when Eren starts the rumbling, that is the time that the walls literally fall and the Marleyans start to work together with Eren's friends.
It's at this time when the wall falls that the truth is finally spoken about between everyone, all the sins of each character laid out by Yelena and all barriers of communication finally removed.
It took the rumbling, where the sound is so loud that you cannot speak to anyone even right next to you, to finally hear the voices of your enemy and talk it out for the first time ever.
Take care of yourself!! I think I speak for everyone when I say your well being comes before the next overanalyzing episode.
I just got to the end of your video 44:39 and I want to say that I heard and understand any future complications with uploads will be met with full patience and understanding… I am an AOT fan after all I am fine with waiting,
Sorry for your loss and I hope all gets better for you.
Having him saying that he doesn't want to go to dark for anime and then ending with that outro left me speechless. I'm so sorry koroto, you're a smart guy i know you can do it! Sending lots of love to you
Hannes death scene still gives me goosebumps after all that time. Such a fantastic scene
legit would watch any overanalyzing video you put out these are so brilliantly done
I have spent the last one and a half years understanding the Internet and wireless communication, dispelling the magic. The analogue hit perfectly 41:50
Sorry for your loss, take your time with this beautiful series.
18:00 No my man, you were cooking. As you saw in the finale he is a "slave to freedom"
I love how Zeke is in the top of the shiganshina wall just like he will be as well in season 4 when he enters the fight to help Eren
Hey thank you for all of your videos. You keep me so much company. I’m really sorry for you loss. Take your time and put yourself first!!❤❤
Hey man I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. These types of things can and will absolutely devastate people, and I just want to say that regardless of what happens or the circumstances, take as long as you need to grieve. We’ll all respect your wishes and feelings. May God bless you.
Sorry for your loss, definitely take as much time as you need. We’ll still be here whenever you’re ready to come back.
Gotta say, SO HAPPY you brought up the music in this episode! Attack on D and Barricades are my favorite songs in AOT, and I tihk what you said on it was perfect!
Please take your time to heal Korotos. Just want to thank you for your content. It's amazing and made me appreciate AoT even more.
This s2 ending video came out at the perfect time before the actual ending of the show.
Pretty poetic, huh?
first of all, I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you take all the time you need to find some peace of mind and heal
Tbh, the only thing I don't like about this timeloop shenanigans it's the suggestion that Eren orchestrated a lot of decisions that should be of the other characters' agency, you know? It's as if actions/decisions have less weight considering that it was Eren from the future who controlled them.
he can't control other characters, only himself and the attack titan holders (through himself)
I have been listening to your videos for 10 hours straight.
Thank you so much for your work.
I’m sorry I can’t watch them at work but I’m sure the video is as great as the audio.
AOT is truly a series that gets better with every re-watch
You have our condolences, and I think I speak for everyone when I say;
It'll take the time it takes for the next episode to come out.
I'm sorry for your loss, take your time to grieve and heal don't worry about us, even if you do disappear for awhile, we'll be waiting for you as long as you need
I am sorry for your loss Koroto. Stay strong and take care of yourself and your loved ones first. We will wait as long as you need us to.
My condolences brother. Take all the time you need💜
Thank you for everything so far. I hope you're doing better 😊.
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one. That's always hard. Take care of yourself and process your loss. We will patiently wait for your epic videos! 💯
Sorry about your loss hope you recover well
I’m sorry for your loss take all the time you need and thank you for making these videos
My man, what an amazing work so far.
You made me look at what I thought was an amazing series throught a completely different prespective only to make it even better.
You deserve millions of followers
Props on you for not talking about the RetConned "siblings love".
Thank you for uploading these amazing analyses it's inspired me to get back into writing. Sorry for your loss, I hope you're doing well.
I always thought eren couldn’t transform because his goal in mind for transforming was to kill Dina (a royal) something that Ymir wouldn’t approve of
My condolences, brother. May you be allowed to grieve in peace and heal on your own time.
