"I plucked first gave it some jandal and fuck yeah" possibly the best post race interview EVER. Lol bloody kiwis. Never seen a crowd so pumped about 2nd place. Blown away by volvo on debut. This is really great for our sport.
I live in the USA and I have to say the Australian V8 series is by far the most fun to watch. Competitive, good drivers with a little rubbing, and awesome tracks. NASCAR is just a bunch a BS. Thank god we have the Continental Tire, and Tudor Series to watch. The Pirelli challenge is good to. Whincup is the man... awesome racing.
TheStockCarStig All I saw on that clip was drivers all over (and quite often off of) the track, hitting each other, and crashing their heavy antiques that they call race cars.
I will never EVER get sick of this. I still remember my whole family standing up and yelling at the TV during the final 30 seconds. Great racing. Great sport. Great team.
lllllRBlllll DTM isn't. It is just some 'pretending-to-be-touringcars" by carmakers who think of themself being "premium". Contact is only thanks to driver errors most of the time.
V8 Supercars are so freaking awesome to watch. This is true racing. I hate that I have to torrent it since where I live it is unavailable but damn these races are awesome.
The v8 supercars series have a superview service for international people who don't have it available but it's a paid service and I believe it's $40 for a whole season
Awesome. Both drivers completely on it, with enough respect to give each other exactly one car's worth of racing room but not an inch more. Just brilliant racing. Over here (UK) in the BTCC, a multiple champion would most likely have nerfed, rubbed, pushed, barged or just plain punted a young pretender out of the way for that position. 10/10 to both of them.
It's actually crazy how well this captures the Houston experience. All of those places are places I frequent. A lot of the cars are people I know. I'm also honored to have my car mentioned in the video!
Was sitting on the inside of Turn 8 (0:56) and man oh man.... the atmosphere was amazing. Everyone was exciting and just about everyone had Goosebumps as the flew past.... Best Clipsal 500 memory yet !
Dead right. That was clean racing in extreme circumstances. They are just all so skilled. Either one could have so easily put the other into the wall. Brilliant race and a brilliant series.
@Go Teqno holden and ford will remain but not factory supported unless ford goes to the mustang, merc will probs stay out, volvo will be out in 2018 most likely, im thinking nissan or bmw might join in soon
ImGrumpher I said Fpv, implying the Australian ford. And merc and nissan won't drop out because they only came in a couple years ago. I highly doubt that ford would use the mustang as v8 supercars generally swap engines with four door saloons and coupes.
***** Merc is already out, the 2017 supercar regs is for 4 seat 2 doors to be allowed which fits the mustangs description. when i said nissan might join i meant with an r35 or something along with the altima
WOW!! Crazy. Whincup damn near put McLaughlin in the wall, but Scotty didn't budge! Insane. Also anyone notice Crompton jizzing over Whincup when he got the position, then fell silent when it showed McLaughlin back in front? :P
As a formula 1 fan I must admit, that this is most exciting last lap I've ever seen so far. F1 sucks compared to this. I found this video a couple years ago and from this time I saw them many times, but even in 2018 I still have no words how awsome aussie racing could be.
F1 cars can never follow each other like this thanks to all that dirty air. Their circuits also have a lot of slow corners which cause the field to get spread out. Besides that, if they forced themselves to try to follow this close, it is too easy to get major damage..
This is just like the Gilles Villeneuve-René Arnoux F1 duel in Dijon in 1979, which was, oddly enough, also a battle for 2nd place! Two great drivers who just let their talent do the talking: this is what auto racing should be about. Kudos, gentlemen!
I am a huge Motorsport fan... F1, Touring cars, rally Nascar etc. But I have to say for foot down rubber burning panel to panel racing the Aussie V8 series is just about as good as it gets. Fantastic racing and great to see Volvo back in the Sport. They had a good pedigree under Walkinshaw racing years ago in the BTCC in England. Looking forward to seeing more races this year.
Adelaide 500... the first race of every season and, arguably, the best track in the series.. The drivers/teams, fans and sponsors alike just love it. The track design is pure genius and the way the whole event is organised sets a benchmark of excitement for the rest of the season. THIS is street circuit racing... AUSSIE STYLE!!
I watched this live at the time and was on the edge of my seat following the battle. V8 super cars has got to be the best touring car series at the moment. Scott McLaughlin gained a fan in South London after this :)
Simply why the V8 Supercars are the best touring cars in the world, I've been a fan ever since it's been available in the UK on "Satellite TV" I'm a Craig Lowndes fan but Scott McLaughlin will be a champion & if he can drive like this at 20 years of age he just going to get better, I believe he's the real deal........
I was an F1 fan, then I saw this series in 2008 whilst I was flicking through channels and I've never looked back. This was awesome given the circumstances of the brand car but I think the Bathurst sprint after the last safety car was far better. The best bit of racing I've ever seen in my life. Brilliant sport!
I was watching this race live from here in the United States and it was a thrilling last few laps. V8 Supercars are usually a good bet for some great racing.

Whincup on how he control his car is superb. He knows his car's maximum limit especially on the braking zone and corner speed. He also used his veteran moves to overtake mclaughin. Sadly he has nothing left on his fuel tank on the last turn.
This is why I love Touring Cars of all types, I'm a huge fan on BTCC over here in the UK and it's just as fun to watch. I'm going to be at Bathurst in October this year though, can't fucking wait!
+SGT EpicSpeed What a load of bullshit. You think Whincrap doesn't know what a bump is? He's given and received many. Just watch the footage. Shane was nowhere near him in the final corner. Whincrap just fucked up his approach to the final corner and had to run wide onto the dirty side of the track and had no traction. And to hear Skaife say that Whincrap should be complimented for not running Shane into the wall at turn 11 was just garbage. Shane was up past Whincraps B pillar which means Whincrap had to give him a racing line. Skaife is a Redbull rooter. I love the look on Whincraps face. He had nothing to say because he FUCKED UP and let a Rookie in Volvo get one up on him.
You kept typing Shane when it's McLaughlin. Sliding due to a small mistake and sliding due to a small bump may have little to no difference of how it looks like from inside the car. What do you expect from Skaife when he's been driving Holdens every since V8 came into the ATCC? Whincup's face was like that because of what he thought what it was at the final corner.
+SGT EpicSpeed Sorry my bad with the Shane. The gizz is my other favorite Kiwi Driver. Having said THAT, there WAS NO BUMP. Let's get that bit straight. What do I expect from Skaife? A truthful account of what's happening on the track. Had Whincrap fed SCOTT into the wall he would have been black flagged because SCOTT was past his B pillar and had every right to a racing line. But Skaife made it sound like Whincrap was a hero for not running him into the wall. Just like he proclaimed Clowndes innocents in the closing laps of the 2014 Bathurst when Clowndes actually had to run off the track in order to take out Frosty. But Mostert won because Whincrap wouldn't listen. Dirty drivers 1.01. Bunch of dry vagina inverted nipple Golden Shower holden driving Hilbillys.
I just want to make it clear that there's a difference between thought and reality. He only realized that there was no contact when he asked his team and looked at the replays. And again, it's just a thought. And I can see where you're coming from and what side you're supporting. I maybe wrong.
That is some of the best 9 minutes of footage you will ever see. A hell of a battle on the last lap, Scotty dropping the F bomb on live TV, and the boo's that Whincup got on the podium. And what's the go with 11 dislikes on this vid???
This is one of the most exciting last laps I've ever seen!! Just love how McLaughlin eventually edges ahead of Whincup :D Going to follow the V8's for the full season, it was a fantastic weekend!

I never thought I would find myself supporting a Kiwi, driving a Volvo in the V8SC's...
👍😎☺
only one V8SC race in NZ
He makes it so hard not to
The other Kiwi racer is Scott Dixon in the Indycar Series
"I put her in 1st and fuck yeah" LOL. What a fucking champion!
These are the coolest touring cars ever
Gotta love the swedish flag on the top of a volvo
ABSOLUTELY GREAT !!!
I love how nobody was watching the leader.
Yes, great... ;-)
Did you see the rollover from the weekend just gone MPZRACEVIDEO?
brisXr6t
Oh yes... :-O
Full credit to both drivers. Drove hard but fair. Any other series you'd have seen one of them punt the other hard into the wall. Bravo!
I loved that "lets stop listen and learn" and they shut up too lmao. These guys earned their job as commentators
Whincup is the man... awesome racing.
in USA u have Indycar & "WeatherTech SportsCar Championship" (GT and LMP) so u have somthing even better
Don't forget about GTLM
Red Bull are cheats
Aiden Carmody there just experienced
As an American, I WISH our racing was this damn good. Fuck NASCAR.
The truck series race at Daytona was pretty cool this year.
rushTV Manspider Did they turn right? If not, I'm not interested.
You obviously didn't watch the finish of the 2012 watkins glen race. NASCAR has just as good finishes bud.
watch?v=ptLBVCU9hGw
TheStockCarStig All I saw on that clip was drivers all over (and quite often off of) the track, hitting each other, and crashing their heavy antiques that they call race cars.
That's not to mention that the NASCAR road races mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of the championship.
I will never EVER get sick of this. I still remember my whole family standing up and yelling at the TV during the final 30 seconds. Great racing. Great sport. Great team.
You don't get them sorts of goosebumps in almost any motor-racing other than V8 supercars. Brilliant! :D
Thats two words. But anyway, I can agree with that.
The Sons of Epsilon Blancpain isn't bad as well.
Nascar and Indy, they come down to nanoseconds. Plus we can never forget that GT2 Laguna Seca race.
Nothing beats rally in terms of giving me goosebumps. Man&Machine vs. Road.
motogp
Cant believe its been a decade since this incredible duel.
V8 Supercar in definitely a "contact sport"... Awesome!
Wait 'till you see DTM lol.
lllllRBlllll DTM isn't.
It is just some 'pretending-to-be-touringcars" by carmakers who think of themself being "premium". Contact is only thanks to driver errors most of the time.
Absolutely amazing, that's got to be one of the best bits of motor racing I've ever seen :)
V8 Supercars are so freaking awesome to watch. This is true racing. I hate that I have to torrent it since where I live it is unavailable but damn these races are awesome.
The v8 supercars series have a superview service for international people who don't have it available but it's a paid service and I believe it's $40 for a whole season
link? I'd easily pay that. As great as "free" is I'd rather watch it live than a day or so later.
***** www.v8supercars.com.au/v8superview
ya this season been watching it live and free. THEY LISTENED TO ME FROM LAST YEAR!!!
From I think is the world's most underrated racing series. Phenomenal finish and what a breath of fresh air Scott Mclaughlin is. Great kid :D
It's actually crazy how well this captures the Houston experience. All of those places are places I frequent. A lot of the cars are people I know. I'm also honored to have my car mentioned in the video!
loved the VOLVO .. and loved the race !
Legit one of the greatest finishes to any motor-race of any kind, ever! Absolutely tremendous!
You still can't beat Scottys pure excitement and relief.
Swear words are sometimes the only way to describe it
Was sitting on the inside of Turn 8 (0:56) and man oh man.... the atmosphere was amazing. Everyone was exciting and just about everyone had Goosebumps as the flew past....
Best Clipsal 500 memory yet !
Young Scott McLaughlin will be a v8 supercar champion.....he's not
afraid to give it the jandal!!!....:):)
I use to sit next him in school. LOL
***** Really? What was he like?
***** Heard his family is like mega rich
Mutale Malama He left the next year. We were only 8 years old. He went hard on his racing career from a very young age.
Mutale Malama yea they're his brother is like a beast at hockey and always had the BEST of the best.
This has to be the best racing i have ever seen
For my money this was the best on track battle of any kind in any form of motorsport all decade. Just sensational stuff!
Such a fantastic lap. This battle showcases the incredible quality of both drivers, any other pairing and one of them would've been in the wall.
Dead right. That was clean racing in extreme circumstances. They are just all so skilled. Either one could have so easily put the other into the wall. Brilliant race and a brilliant series.
As a F1 fan, I was pretty amazed by this battle live...
so proud to call this our brand of touring cars
Imina Punk
Such a shame hsv and fpv will be out of it soon. But at least Nissan, Merc and Volvo will carry on the V8's
@Go Teqno holden and ford will remain but not factory supported unless ford goes to the mustang, merc will probs stay out, volvo will be out in 2018 most likely, im thinking nissan or bmw might join in soon

Could have easily gave him less room, but all credit to him, didn't.
Was no complaints from Scotty.
Yeah, that was a crack up! Crompton suddenly silent! Ha ha!
Holden lover... But I loved that result! 20years old! Great drive. Get goosebumps watching this!
7:35 on the ponium "from valvonline racing Scott Mclaughlin" so much crowd chearing for him yea
First time youtube recommendations don’t suck, I’m not even familiar with V8 supercars, but that was awesome!
As a formula 1 fan I must admit, that this is most exciting last lap I've ever seen so far. F1 sucks compared to this. I found this video a couple years ago and from this time I saw them many times, but even in 2018 I still have no words how awsome aussie racing could be.
Jesus, that was intense! Compared to this, F1 happens to be quite boring.
Cons of open wheel
Themightykasey It got dismantled by Ecclestone anyways.
beautiful move from Jamie

I am a fan of he Holden as it's the Chevy SS here in the states, but that was an incredible finish. Some of the best 2 way driving I have ever seen.
I work for volvo and i must say, its heart warming to see that these cars are no longer dubbed to be a old mans car, gotta love it!!
Great to see some real interest back in V8's
I am a huge Motorsport fan... F1, Touring cars, rally Nascar etc. But I have to say for foot down rubber burning panel to panel racing the Aussie V8 series is just about as good as it gets. Real racing, nothing like TUDOR in US ! This is awesome !!!!
I watched this live at the time and was on the edge of my seat following the battle. V8 super cars has got to be the best touring car series at the moment. Scott McLaughlin gained a fan in South London after this :)
Only Australian people can do the v8 supercars. You're the best

"FUCK YEA!" - Scott McLaughlin
No other motor sport comes close to this absolutely bloody awesome
One of the best finishes ever in v8 supercars. Loved every minute of the whole thing
Always entertaining running into this clip! 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Incredible, I can't get over it, what a fantastic win in the Volvo, debut race, that's just about as good as it gets!!!
Goose bumps every time I've watched this!! Greatest last lap to date.
I was watching this race live from here in the United States and it was a thrilling last few laps. V8 Supercars are usually a good bet for some great racing.

If anyone else had sworn there would have been outrage, but it made Scotty a legend! xD Go Scotty!
What a superb finish to an unbelievable race at an unbelievable circuit I loved every second of this battle
This is what it is all about. Fantastic fight for second I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Well done mate!
That must´ve been one of the best finishes I´ve ever seen. I bet heart medication sales in Adelaide went up in the following days. Great racing!
This is why I love Touring Cars of all types, I'm a huge fan on BTCC over here in the UK and it's just as fun to watch. I'm going to be at Bathurst in October this year though, can't fucking wait!
You lucky bugger, hope you have an ace time......
Face hurts from smiling so much from this video! Great sportsmanship and amazing driving.
Thanks for uploading mate this was a great race better then race 3 when the penalties started happening.
This made me love V8 Supercars. I´m going to follow every race now :)
You're in for a treat.
This is the birth of one of the most successful V8 Supercar racers
Awesome Race.....
1 of the best racing series I watched so far. I don´t saw more awesome fight on any other racing series, whit that speed.
That negative 3 camber degree in the front tho and slammed body .stance life 🤤
v8 supercars is some of the best racing i've ever seen. I am now a devout fan :-)
est l’une des meilleures catégories du monde du sport automobile qui dispose de tout le nécessaire pour susciter diverses émotions dans le public.
I just find this series... what the heck it seems awesome!
damn, some nice racing, this is why i love this series
That was absolutely beautiful driving there. Volvo making a hell of a start this year, hopefully the start of many years to come.
Every race there is always a battle, I love this series which i could see it on TV here in America..
Can't you guys check out the V8 Supercar races on Speed TV???
Speed TV was cancelled its now Fox Sports one and they have all these other sports
Bloody awesome racing. SO sick of not being able to watch this in the States!
www.v8supercars.com.au/v8superview
Love those Valvoline colors. Please bring a race to Watkins Glen NY!
+Ryan Lewis
Now THAT would be a race to see.
How about Road America, Belle Isle, Sebring, Virginia International, Road Atlanta, or Lime Rock?
Whincrap wasn't happy. Beaten by a Rookie, driving a Volvo that's just joined the comp.
+AussieMusicRocks He wasn't happy because he thought he was given a bump at the final corner. He said it himself in a lot of interviews.
+SGT EpicSpeed

Nice to see the crowd embrace other Manufacturers. It didn't go down well last time they tried it.
Wow ! Epic last lap, this needs to be shown in England !
This was a thriller for the ages. Loved it!
Seriously, there is NOTHING on earth, like V8 Supercars!! Goosebumps and balls of steel! :D
This is one of the most exciting last laps I've ever seen!! Just love how McLaughlin eventually edges ahead of Whincup :D Going to follow the V8's for the full season, it was a fantastic weekend!
Supercars is good shit, Australia's finest export. The perfect melding of Amercian and European racing into one. Love watching this.
"01:00-01:35" ONE OF THE BEST 35 SECONDS I EVER SAW IN RACES!!!
This reminds me so much of that last lap, last corner pass in Round 3 @ Sugo in the 2003 JGTC season
NASCAR should be THIS. This is the best racing on the planet!
No question, this is the best last lap of all time!
In my opinion V8 supercars is the most exciting to watch these guys have ridiculous car control
We have such a good series going at the moment - that was amazing racing - clean and 300% intense.
Great honest competition with great drivers and cars and no BS regulations, F1 could learn a few things with this series, oh wait, its run by old farts detach from reality and sport.
F1 is in touch with reality. What have V8 supercars developed for use in road cars recently?
sneeren
Yeah let me push to pass on the highway while i have my upside down aeroplane wings and car with no suspension. Up until the new rule change they resembled little to a road car and gave sweet fuck all back. Now they have some energy recovery/hybrid systems and fuel efficiency that will feed down. Cool and all but no big deal.
sneeren
We can say that much of the technology from F1 never goes on road cars, but F1 was always like that.
STCC, BTCC and V8 Supercars is much more fun than F1.
sneeren Except F1 is about as exciting as watching Goldfish!
Also tho the best sportsmanship I’ve ever seen... I’m not sure if they even touched lol but absolutely amazing race 👍
Wow that is awesome great racing, cant wait for this to go worldwide if it ever does.
Awesome racing
The best part about this is the genuine excitement from the announcers when Mclaughlin got back by
"Awww Fuck Yeah!"
I never thought I would still use this line 2 years later, still the most used line in V8 Supercars history
0:50 Watch Listen And Learn.. yeah! both you rocks!
That was the first week-end of V8SC i watched....now i can't miss a race
Bet you had a ball watching Bathurst this year then!
It’s a shame the gen 3 can’t produce racing like this
Amazing skill from both drivers. Good, clean racing!
