    Thanks Ted for the great video. The one thing I was not understanding is that each DMX controller has different notes that need to be assigned. Look at your DMX controllers manual to see what you are trying to program. For instance, scene or chase, or any other functions you are trying to activate with the FCB1010.
    For intstance, i wanted my FCB1010 to activate my ADJ Operator 384 pre-set scenes. The value on those starts on 12. So to do that, the first switch on the FCb1010 is the set to 12 which eas my first scene, and so on.

    You saved my life mister, I don't know how I would have survived programming this thing without you.

    I am using a FCB1010 in conjunction with Luminair, and I am finding it to be a challenge to program. I had it once, never write down what I did and lost it when one of my kids deleted the program off my iPad. It’s the same concept of sending a note, but I just can’t seem to replicate it in order reprogram it.

      I have never used the Luminaire controller so I don’t really know anything about it.
      The note on signal is generated by the FCB1010. So I would think if you had it working before, it is still sending the signal. It sounds like the problem is on the controller side or possibly the midi cable.

    Hey Ted. Nice video. Um using a setup similar to yours and I’ve read that you’re not using this setup anymore. However, I’m having a hard time to alow my rockville w4 to enable midi control. Would you be so kind to give me a few directions? My user manual doesn’t seem to help at all. Thanks!

    • @tkennell66
      @tkennell66  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Rockville instructions were no help to me. However, the problem for me was with setting foot switch to a midi note signal. The light controller doesn’t recognize the midi unless it it sent as a note.
      That was what I had to figure out. How to assign a note to the correct scene of the controller. If you have a keyboard with midi I believe you could plug it in and use the keys, or “notes” to change the scenes without any further setup. I’m not 100% sure, but I think it would work.

      Think of the foot switch as a keyboard that needs to have the keys assigned or programmed to the notes that the controller already has in it.
      I’m working right now, if you have more questions I can take a deeper dive later. Let me know.

    We’re you able to activate a chase with your midi foot-pedal? I have the same light board and have managed to get scenes to activate with my midi pedal but I haven’t been able to activate a chase. I don’t see any midi codes for the chase. Your video got me started thanks!

      I never took the time to program any chase scene’s. I gave it a brief try but because I was unsuccessful I didn’t spend a lot of time with it.
      I basically used each bank of 8 as the chase and then set the timer fader if I wanted the changes faster. I’m not sure how you would program the chase’s.

      Let me be more specific, I was able to program a chase on the controller, but unable to use the midi to trigger them.

      @@tkennell66 thanks for getting back to me. I’m finding it might not be possible to trigger the chase. Having some foot control on the scenes is helpful.

      I am no longer using this setup. We have hired a crewman that runs the light show. If I get a chance I will try to upload a quick demo on this again.

      I would appreciate that….I cannot figure out how to get it connect to the dmx controller

    Thanks for this video.
    Does anyobody here knows if it's possible to store your programmed scenes (whether you did this with a software on a pc or with a dmx console/controler), and then transfert your programmed scenes on a usb key, and while you're on show, plug this key in a footswich or midi controler that allows it (just to get rid of the dmx controler or laptop) ? And then the footswich will only read the usb key to trigger your lights stuff ?

    • @tkennell66
      @tkennell66  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My understanding is limited on this topic. I do not have a lot of experience with midi controls or systems.
      I believe that the way i set this up you definitely need the DMx controller. The scenes are programmed using the dmx control. The controller that I used doesn’t allow for transfer of data. It only allows for storage. I’m sure there are other controls and software that allow you to store and transfer the data.
      I think the midi foot switch is the same. Save only. However, I believe that the foot switch could be used to trigger another controller or midi device if it has the same trigger address.
