In 12 minutes and 13 seconds you cover more about this ship and answer more questions than an hour long Discovery channel documentary. Great vid as always, fly navy.
Cheers!
You're not lying I was on a carrier for five years and it was basically a complete run down of everything up there. The only way it could have been better if you where there walking next to him.
My new favourite TH-cam video ever!!!
@@tom5256 That would have made it perfect I agree.
Thank you! Truly appreciate you and everyone in our Armed Forces.
Go Navy! Thank you for your service 🇺🇸
LOVED the tour!
Have you ever done a "day in the life?"
Wake up, breakfast, briefing, preflight, launch, recovery, wind down?
Or a day off, video.
I haven’t. I’ll consider it.
I would love to see that too.
I second this!
@@GrowlerJams This would be so awesome. Absolutely LOVE this stuff, some of my favorite content on YT. Cheers and thanks.
I vote this ⛄☃️🥳🥳😘😘
Now I'm starting to understand why they call the ship Mom. Safety and security in the middle of nowhere. A most excellent tour, Growler Jams!
6:32 signature move 👌🏼
😎
No big deal 🙂
That flight deck is massive!
" ...signature move. No big deal..." love this!
Wouldn't be a Growler Jam without the signature move
Nice tour of the BOAT ! I was an A6 Intruder plane captain in the early to mid 1970’s. In VA-42 (RAG) NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, Va. I got to go on the Independence, Lexington and the Franklin Delano Roosevelt on carrier quals. Exciting and dangerous work on the flight deck during flight opps. Especially night opps. I saw an E2 Hawkeye catch the cable and crash on landing. It didn’t come in level with the deck and broke the starboard main landing strut. I also saw a F-4 Phantom catapult off the bow on the same carrier qual on the Independence CV62. On another carrier qual I got to ride in a COD C1 Trader. Catapulted off the port forward catapult. That was a Thrill. After releasing from the catapult with all those G forces, it felt as if we were going into the gulf for a swim. But it just floated away from the boat. I was also fortunate to experience a ride off the boat in a Huey and a CH-46 after carrier quals. Also went to Fallon and Yuma for bombing detachments. I enjoyed the work of a PC but not all the watches and ALL the BULL !!!
FLY NAVY !
TYFYS.
Thank you for your Service Sir 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Tank you for your service Shipmate!
Plane.Captain for.your.entire hitch?
I, too, was stationed at NAS Oceania from late 72 to early March 75 VF101 (F-4) & VA85 (A-6). I was on 6 aircraft carriers and 5 different ones. Forestall (Med cruise 75) Independence, Kennedy, America, Enterprise I also was on the flight deck too many times. Scary isn't the word. Especially when you were aft of the island during landing operations. Now I have many health issues. Along with 2 failed marriages. I attempted suicide a few times (still on my mind). I want the pain to go away. If anyone can relate, let me know? No one wants to be around me.
Thanks for the tour. My wife and I had the privilege of being invited on a friends and family day trip on the Lincoln. Standing next to the LA watching EA-6Bs slam down while doing laps around the pattern was an unforgettable experience. My hat is off to you and everyone who protects our country. Thank you!
You have more aircraft on one carrier than most countries have in their entire airforce! Respect!
I loved the tour. It's been 50 years since I got out of the Navy and this video brought back a lot of memories for me, so many thanks. Beers to you! 🍺🍻 Fly Navy and Marines! ⚓✈️⚓💪
Great tour, 60 years for me, USS Forrestal CVA-59, 1965-66 thanks for memories. Bearthed on the 03 level just under the flight deck with the constant noise during flight ops. Great experience serving on a carrier.
I was on the Kennedy, Independence, America, Enterprise & the Forestall 1975
It makes us older to realize those 50 years went by in a blink. You’ll always remember the good times.
Great tour, thanks. Brings back memories of my days on the Big E back in the 80s. As big as these ships are, seeing nothing but ocean in every direction reminds you of how small you actually are.
What an incredible video. Somehow it feels more comfortable for the viewer when it's crowded, busy, and dangerous. Then you don't have time to contemplate the mind blowing scale of it all like you do in this extended walkaround of a deserted carrier deck under way. The fantail wake shot really brought home the brutal majesty of the ship.
I'm totally in awe of how many moving parts it takes to operate such a massive vessel and of Pail's extensive knowledge about how it all works.
Thank you Pail. We learn so much from you!! God bless and Fly Navy!!❤❤
Ben oui, que Dieu vous blesse ,d'ailleurs in Gunn you trust !
VAW- 124 Power Plants sailor. On 3 Med cruses the one thing that would have me mesmerized was the color of the water. It was the most magnificent shade of blue. Thank you Sir for the walk around, it brought back some memories.
TYFYS.
Watching this video was an amazing experience! Thank u so much Pail. Your efforts are truly appreciated ❤🇿🇦
👍awesome tour! Look forward to your posts-Appreciate allowing us to take a walk -thank you Officer Pail for this, your obvious pride, dedication and service to the US Navy-keeping us safe🇺🇸🇻🇮
Thank you for the tour. My brother took us on board one of the flattops a few years ago while he was still on active duty. He was an Air Force surgeon stationed at the Naval hospital in San Diego. It is really amazing to be on a flight deck that is nearly as large as our 5 acre property. Thanks again.
Pail, my eight year old son has been captivated into aviation by your whole series of videos. The way you explain what we see onscreen is instantly understood by this bright young man, and your narration cadence, pitch, and teaching style are perfectly suited to him. I love the many hours of conversation with my son you, Mom, the Growler and the Goshawk have inspired. Thank you. 🏆
You deserve an award for your very informative videos. You always present information clearly and simply without a lot of jargon. I always appreciate your videos as you show me things I would never see in life and give glimpses into your exciting life. Take care, be safe.
Almost speechless. It's impressive! Without the planes, we can really appreciate how immense the flight deck is. A totally unique and cool video.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to see something that the vast majority of us will never be able to see!
Red, white, and blue 73! She’s beautiful! Great tour! Better than anything I’ve ever watched on the history channel. Thank you Pail!
Oh the very unforgiving non-skid if you fall onto it. The many battle scars I have from taking a tumble on that surface. It brings me back
is it like a really rough surface?
@vincentvoncarnap Oh yeah
it don't work too good when covered in jet fuel. it gets soapy feeling
Not sprayed on! Lmao!! Rolled applied. Feels good when blown into skin
@vincentvoncarnapIt is very similar to heavy grit sandpaper, at least when it's new.
My son was on this ship when this was filmed ❤
I am a plank owner of USS George Washington( nucleus crew, one of the first fifty sailors assigned to the PCU GW) . That brought back a lot of memories. My first tour I was a SK2, my second tour I was an SKC. I remember the day the Island was lowered onto the fight deck, and the day she was commissioned. Thanks for the walk down memory lane, you're awesome sir.
TYFYS!
Thank you very much for taking us on the tour of this MASSIVE ship - really incredible. Cheers from Seattle! 🍻
Nothing and no one around for miles .... except for the bubbleheads that you don't see!!! Nice tour of the deck.
💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Really liked the tour. Carriers are one of the most amazing engineering feats ever created.
Great video! GW was the first CVN that I went to sea on as a shipbuilder for acceptance sea trials back in 1992. 44 years helping to build and maintain CVN's and Ford class ships. What a privilege and honor!
That’s awesome!
Better than the discovery channel!
Not only,do you tell us more,in much less time, than any cable documentary.
But I'd much rather listen to you any day, than them!
Thanks for a great, informative tour❤
Good Evening Sir, I Like The Sound Of That Sir ( American Diplomacy 😇👍🙏👌) Truly This Is AN OUTSTANDING Tour Or Your Flight Deck Sir 🧐👌👍Be Well, Keep Warm and Thank You Again For Your Service Mon Ami Cheers 👍👌😇🍻
For a citizen of a land-locked country, this is another very impressive Video by< Growler Jams. Thanks for having be on board!
Twelve minutes passed fast. It felt like a one minute. I said on Wednesday that I'm sure this new jam is going to be cool and interesting. It's much better than I could even imagine it. I've already watched it over (and over) again. I'm still quite speechless. There are a hundred things to look at and listen to in your narration.
I sure love this jam. BIG TY for your hard work. I really appreciate it very much. ❤️❤️❤️
Spent 3 years on that ship as ship's company. Thanks for the memories!!
Wow. That was really interesting. Thank you for taking the time to prepare and post this video. Another fascinating look into the work and work place we never see nor here. Thanks. Cheers from down under 🇦🇺 Stan.
What a great explorer your ship! Thank you for doing closed caption! I am deaf and enjoy to watch your show! 🙏🏽👍🏽 CHEER!
What an awesome tour! Your videos are easy to follow, thanks to your very clear and precise information you give us. Thanks so much.
Thank you Pail from an old Army MP! This was awesome
Thank you so much for that! These ships are so amazing!
I'm 78 alway wanted to join the Navy but couldn't for med reasons . When young made models of so many Navy ships had friends in San Diego when ever i visited I'd get up early on Saturday morning to tour whatever ship drew tour duty. But they never had a Carrier had settle to stare across the deep turning my basin at the likes of the Ranger, Constellation and Kitty Hawk before they moved her to Japan. Finally made it on to a bird yard during fleet week in NYC, the USS America. Thanks for bringing back a lot of great memories. No matter what ship I ever got on you guys always were great to me and everyone else. You never talked down to anyone. God bless you all
Cheers!
That was incredible! Thank you for this.
I really enjoy the Growler Jams. I was on USS Enterprise CVA(N)65 back in '65 - '67 -- S1 Division. I watched Qualifications and Walkaround today and really brought back memories. Thank You for your service and doing these Growler Jams.
Thank you for yours, Sir.
Great video, keep them coming. Spent 4 yrs in the Navy, logged several thousand hours, but it was on P-3 Patrol planes (VP 6) so I was never on an aircraft carrier.
After watching your channel, I can’t help go back to the first pilots who had to land on a ship during WWII as true test pilots. So glad there is more technology today to save pilots and sailors!!
Thanks, Pail. Far and away the best part of my day. It was a great tour of the flight deck. Awesomely impressive. The production values on this piece are excellent. Crystal clear images, great sound and thoughtful narration. Thanks again for the privilege.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Pail, Fantastic walk around. Rarely is the deck so clear. The nerd in me wanted to hear about the painted markings on the combing (CO2, AQFFF,..etc), the main gear lineup lines at the cats, why the foul line is called the foul line, helo landing spot markers... just a few things. You're right about looking around and seeing nothing..an awe inspiring feeling.... had that thought many a time between cycles over the pacific.
Your videos will probably be the source of some young folks joining our club and becoming Naval Aviators, keep up the good work
That was a great walk around. That carrier is massive. Thanks. Fly Navy!!
Your channel is really special Pail. For the folks who have never had the opportunity to visit a Nimitz Carrier you provide a compelling story and we learn some of the wild and amazing things that happen aboard. It is also fun to see some of the deck crew waving. Thanks again Pail for bringing your world into ours. Fly Navy👍👍
Fly Navy! Thanks for watching!
Great tour! Love to see those elevators working! Thank you.
I was awestruck when I went on a Dependent cruise in the late 80s on the USS Kitty Hawk CV-63 out of San Diego. Until you have walked on the flight deck of an Aircraft Carrier, its hard to comprehend the size. Thanks for the tour !! Go Navy ⚓🇺🇸🇺🇸
Wonderful tour, sir! American technology at its best, with the best trained personnel imaginable. There will probably be even more improvements to these ships for future generations.
That was awesome, what a great opportunity for a full walk.
Great walk around!
Thanks for the tour.
My Aunt’s brother was the captain of the USS NIMITZ back 20 years ago Richard Gaskil . I missed the family tour that included a boat ride on the captains yacht
Freaking fabulous!! Flying jets is always the coolest but learning and seeing the things you could disclose publicly was amazing! Thanks for all you publish, brah! BZ
Thank you for the tour of the deck. Your guidance educated me more than some books on aircraft carriers. If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth a book full of pictures and words
I always loved being on the fantail at sunset. There is no better place to be.
Thanks for an amazing tour! The minimal manning, on deck, reminds me of walking perimeter around a certain 40 acre compound, in Korea, at 0300!!
Thank you for the tour, so impressive!
Awesome and thanks for the tour of the flight deck. Now I know and understand more about the flight deck on 73. 😊
Most informative carrier video I've seen - nice work!
That was awesome. Pure gold.
The PAOs should be sending you gifts for all you do to promote the Navy. Another great video, sir!
The best educational channel on everything about Flight ops on a Carrier
Top Drawer ....
It's pretty remarkable how that shuttle is able to pull the massive fighter jet into speeds needed for flying. And that the seemingly insignificant thing that hooks up into that shuttle is able to take all that force. Awesome engineering, thank you for this video!
Something like late 60’s I had the opportunity to go on a family day on the USS FDR. Out of Jacksonville FL. It was the most amazing thing in my life. Think of standing next to the tower on the flight deck while aircraft are landing and taking off! I was about 12 years old but Your video brings that back like it was yesterday. I stood on the fantail. I went down that elevator to the hanger deck. Which was like any thrill ride you could imagine. To this day I look at that day as being an impossible thing for today’s youngsters. But it was the memory of a lifetime for me!
My dad was on the USS WASP...CAG 14... during WWII and flew the Helldiver. Something tells me the WASP was a tad smaller than the USS WASHINGTON. Great video, Growler.
Yeah, it sure was.
Absolutely loved the tour. Thank you so much for sharing your workplace with us. As always, stay safe and Fly Navy!
Amazing, thank you for the guided tour. So cool to see one of these without the myriad folks and planes bustling about
The difference in perspectives from the little dot, to the postage stamp sized ship, your cockpit videos of an approach and landing depicts to the enormity of that empty flight deck, are hard to wrap one’s head around. I can’t begin to imagine the pucker factor that exists for a first carrier landing. Gives me even more respect for what my father did, and for what all Navy Aviators do to keep us safe and free! Great video 👍🏻
Jamming to the growler jams once again
2 days after Christmas 2024 I get to finally see up close where the love of my life spent his time. So so very very cool! Thank you “Pail!” Fly Navy✈️
Very informative...thanks!
The tour was very interesting, I absolutely love the view from the fan tail. Not only was it gorgeous but peaceful looking. And without any aircraft on board, you can really see just how huge the ship is.
Merry Christmas, Brendan. ❤
thank you for the flight deck tour
2 1/2 years underway on big decks and still enjoyed your little tour. Good times!
Fantastic tour!! Thank you!
Thanks for the tour! The deck must be an extremely dangerous place when in full operations! I am in awe at the enormous size of an aircraft carrier.
Thank you for all that you do! For what it's worth, this old Army artillery guy appreciates it.
Go Army, Beat Navy!
Fly Navy!
Very cool. Thanks for making this.
Never seen the folded tail gear. That was awesome. Thanks!
Fantastic 👍Thanks 🤙
Awesome, absolutely awesome. Never a dull day in your videos or on the George Washington!!
GREAT WALK! …now, deck loaded with armed airframes, night, thunderstorms, engines, especially CODS running… let’s go walking!
Awesome view seeing a naked flight deck! Much, much bigger than the USS Coral Sea that I sailed on back in 1977! Thanks for the tour!
Back before there was such a thing as “asmr”, my favorite thing to see was a freshly painted nonskid deck. I don’t know why, but I could stare at it for hours. Of course, a day later I had to find something else to fill the void since that’s about how long it lasts but it was a beautiful thing.
Fantastic that you give us these insights. Thank you.
That was very cool
You made my day with this top
jam. Thank you.
I just don't know which day it is,
Friday or Saturday. Because it
was already Friday evening over here when you launched this jam. Anyway, it was a great
way to start a weekend, to forget the boring things and
start doing all fun stuff instead.
I decided you made my day in both, Friday and Saturday❣️I really got to forget everyday dutys with this. 🤗 It has been very nice and relaxing to keep watching this jam over again. TY. 👌🏻💯💯💯😍
In the morning, my endless energypack was watching it with me once. He laid down next to me, put his head on my chest and watched it with me, and tilted his head cute way. 😊🐶
Very cool
that was awesome, i cant imagine walking the flight deck, or doing anything on deck could ever get old
0:10 - The graphics looks really good! :p
🤔
@@GrowlerJams It was meant as a lighthearted joke, as the first couple of seconds of your video looked like the intro of a videogame with really good graphics:) Loved your video! I'm looking forward to more videos:)
a little off topic for this one, but trying to hit my case 3 marshal times in DCS World..within 10 seconds??..any advice, useful techniques?..pretty cool, thanks
Awesome! I was fortunate to take a day at sea on GW out of Yokosuka. First thing that surprised me was how BIG the planes were on a crowded deck. Now I can clearly see how big the deck really is. Thank you for your service. CYA!
Amazing quality mate, its so different to see the flight deck when its quiet and no jets lined up. Calm seas beautiful sunset, you're living the dream my friend.
love the tour, this is pure gold thank so much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely amazing, thank you for the tour
Great tour. Nice to have you back. Thanks!
Thank you love your content this never gets old for me. God bless you and our soldiers and America.👍
Brilliant! Really neat seeing the flight deck like that with no aircraft on it. Thanks heaps for the tour👍🏼
Great tour!! I had a friend that was on the USS Abraham Lincoln ship. He was too a fighter jet. I sure miss him, I’m sure he’s retired now and we lost contact. It’s good to see it all over again!
Pail I really loved this. So cool. Second favorite video. Watching your Mom and Dad visit was my favorite.
The floating city of GDub! Thanks for the great tour of a great Navy ship Pail! Go Navy!
Another great informational presentation. Thanks and Merry Christmas!
