Well light travels faster than sound so it would be physically impossible for sound to be able to hear. Not to mention a laser that big would have destroyed the microphone so that's why sound could not be heard at the end. One more thing I would like to say is that sound travels in waves through space filled with atoms and judging by how powerful the laser was able to get 1/3 of the way to the Earths core it vaporized the atoms before it got the chance to create waves of sound. But I agree it would be more funnier if there was a loud sfx at the end.
