Wong had beaten Xu Xin before. He was solidly in the ITTF Top 10 until this year. Let's hope he can get back to his potential. 2 top penholders in the Top 10 will be pretty nice.
I appreciate Harimotos skill and passion, he's an incredible talent with a great future but his over the top screaming after even a simple point is absolutely ridiculous. I know, it's to hype himself and keep him focused or whatever but it's a joke
It was so funny when Wang Chuqin in R32 of Australian Open started to scream during their match and Harimoto started to loose concentration and make more mistakes.
Harimoto is the male version of Mima Ito. Same close to the table fast game with blocks and chops. The Japanese school is very effective. Wong is the future of Chinese penhold with his next generation backhand. Very interesting game.
@@BoiledPlums I think its cool and interesting to get professionals to think of the game differently. Do I run out the clock? Do I give my all here or play super defensively to force my opp. to think too offensively and make more mistakes?

All that screaming did squat to the damn screamer. I just hate it when he has to resort to such dirty tactic of screaming at your opponents when they make mistakes. Until he quits screaming and concentrates on playing real ping pong, I hope he continues to lose.
Why? Didn’t player make a mistake before his/her lost the point? It’s Harimoto points. I only see a fair apologize from him when he got a point from let&edge ball.
@@glebgiz1246 Gleb Giz If you're not nice professionally, if you scream your lungs out after getting every single point, even though you know screaming like that has an ill effect on the opponent, who either becomes restless, loses his edge, or just gets angry and loses focus, then what's the point of being nice in real life? 🤔
@@rishabhdubey374 The fact is you think his opponents lose focus. You may think so, but it doesn't mean it's a fact that they lose focus. Just your opinion. Have you seen any of the players complain about Harimoto screaming? And it's table tennis. Ping pong is quite a different game. /s
@@exampy I don't even know when did I ever mention ping-pong. Also, yes. If you listen to Sun Wen's interview, he clearly said that "screaming obviously disturbs players. When I go against Harimoto, I'm gonna make sure that I scream louder than him." And he did. I think it was Japan open, you can rewatch the match if you want to see if my "opinion" checks out or not, did screaming have any affect on Harimoto or not. So there you go, as clearly stated in his interview, (not very directly) what I'm saying is not an opinion, but a fact. Because if players had no problem with him screaming, why would An Jaehyun or Sun Wen scream like that only against him and not against other players, and then say in an interview also that they're gonna scream against Hari? @@kfc5201314able Xu Xin is famous for footwork and spinny forehand but backhand, especially RPB. WCT is the only active player that can compare to Wang Hao's RPB
Not really, top players are smart. Harimoto's game had been viewed many times and his actual poaching game is a lot easier to dissect than you might think. Top coaches like Liu Guoliang was able to take Tomo's tactics apart in less than 10 minutes. He has, in fact, playing the same game for a long time without much change. Other than playing a bit more forehand to compensate for constantly hitting his stronger backhand in his forehand side. Meanwhile, lots of players are keying to counter Tomo's game effectively. Mind you, Tomo is still playing well and he is the same, if not a bit even better than his break out last year. But top players are smart to adapt, they play a different game than their usual against other players. In other words, proper technique, good game preparation and a sound game plan is the key to win in any sports. Table Tennis is no exception.
You can tell from Harimoto's junior behavior that he has emotional problems. I guess he screams to release his stress. However this is unpleasant to opponents and the audience even he doesn't mean it. The authority should do something.
harimoto is screaming louder and louder, while he is playing worse and worse. BTW, any players in Chinese Table Tennis Super League can defeat harimoto.
Tomo's tactics haven't change since the new ball. More players are getting smart and dissect his game thoroughly. You need to switch sides and spins constantly so he wouldn't be able to either chop block, using your own pace and counter you frequently. Therefore, you move him by hitting wide or deep on his much weaker forehand due to his poor footwork. Jamming him in the middle because he is always poaching. Or hitting behind him after changing directions to take advantage of his transitioning game from forehand to backhand. Thus inducing hitting errors due to late preparations. Therefore, his records this year are not as great as they were last year when he stunned Ma Long and others to win the Japan Open.
I used to enjoy watching Harimoto's games, and I understand scream and shouting can hype ones up and destroy some of the opponent's fighting spirit, especially after a long struggle with a good shot. But it lost its effectiveness when Harimoto applied this on every winning point, some of the points are simply the opponent's mistakes. Plus, he looks a little down when he lost a shot and cannot scream. Comparing with Lin Yun-Ju, he did not show any emotion which makes him look like much harder to defeat. Referring to T2's last two games, both Ma Long and Fan Zhendong looked a little down when they lost a point to Lin too. Harimoto played Lin when they were kids before, th-cam.com/video/5dl0ue1kBIM/w-d-xo.html , I guess this is Harimoto's style now. I am not sure the net effect of the loud shouting is positive.
