It really bothered me that there were no HD versions of this video, so I took matters into my own hands. Excuse the parts of the videos that seem slowed down; emulation isn't 100% up to par but its enough to play Zero and 5 without any major gameplay issues. Believe me, it was worse before I fixed up what I could.

I like how Wizard’s intro hints at the gimmick of the stealth aircraft by having Wizard 5 talk despite there seemingly only being 4 aircraft
Another thing to point out is how in almost every enemy squadron, the squad leader always speaks up after their plane was shown.
But it's not for Wizard 1's case because he was using a stealth aircraft

silber team's story was kinda sad to me. i always felt the leader retired not only because he was old but because he was forced to send his students to their deaths and was unable to protect them

The squadrons and their intros are a big part of what made this game great and memorable. Still love playing it to this day. Gault’s intro is my favorite

aye. no other ace combat ever matched this feeling that zero could give you. Of being someone the enemy force recognized and merrited the elite to come and fight.
i admit, the canyon battle with offnir in 5 is a favorite as well.

Osea seems to like to use Magic-themed Squad names- Wizard, Sorcerer, and now Mage Squadron in AC7.
Even Mage has a similar logo akin to both Wizard and Sorcerer
There are others like Golem, Skeleton, Gargoyle, the writers really like arthurian legends

The cinematography of these intros is incredible. Especially Gault's, the way the camera zooms away from their formation... chills all around

I think ESPADA squadrons intro is so badass. Espada 1 is using a Draken which is a much older plane than the Rafale that Espada 2 uses. It shows that Espada 1 is a veteran ace who is teaching the much newer but still deadly Espada 2 yet prefers his older technology plane since this is set earlier in the AC timeline.
The writing in this series is fantastic!

It was said somewhere that Espanada fighting style is that of an dancing partners: Espanada 1was more aggrssive, taking the lead so to say and Espanada 2 supported him with her lighter moves. Its pretty clever description.

Grun(Grün)=Green
Schwarze=black
Gelb=Yellow
Silber=silver
And so on...

I agree. My first thoughts upon seeing them were: “Two SU-37 Terminators pulling a Thach Weave? These guys are gonna be good.” I was not wrong.

I really want to get into this series even more.
If you've got a PC (or a mac but that doesn't work as well) and a PS2 there's this thing called PCSX2 that lets you play PS2 games. You need to copy the operating system off the PS2 to make it work, but it is capable of playing the three best ones.
What I think is cool about Wizard/Gault/Sorcerer is that everyone else kinda had something going against them, whether it be logistics, poor timing, etc. Those three didn’t. They were ready, and knew you were coming, and they came at you with all they got. Pretty cool if true

A Chumtard the paint he used in tiger unlocks pretty later in the game so f15 must be unlocked
This was the first ace combat game I completed and the ace combat that made me fell even deeper in love with the franchise.
Ace combat 1 and 2 was great played it in ps1 when I was young but I was too young to understand what is going on.
My favorite game of all time. I loved it. The intros, the interviews, the narrative, it's so good.
Phenomenal game. "The gauntlet" alone was worth the $60.

Espada was the worst, because they were Sapin mercenaries involved in a war that nothing had to do with them. And when you find out they were actually a couple... oh man...
I think there has been better ace combats but the story line and ranking system are still unheard of in the ace combat series to this day..yet hearing in the game that one of the espada squadron members knowing he wont return to base made me kinda put down the game for a couple days

Mercenary: He dies during the struggle against Galm
Soldier: He dies years later from fatal wounds , but manage to live with her.
Knight: He survives and live for some months , but dies in another battle instead.

I re played the campaign 4 times only using the f15
First time I played I spent money on multiple planes and weapons, didn't really have a lot of money to buy top tier.

Great deal. Pixy really becomes the right amount of difficult. No pushover, no rage-inducing nightmare. Just great.

This game sure made my emotions "burn" for some battles with those "dramatic" intros!!! :)
In the XB-O mission when I saw the plane I was like, "What the Hell is that? Is it similar to the B-2?" But it took me a lot of time to destroy the damn thing if you use the special weapon with multi-TGT along with the normal missile and those escorts the The Espada team of the Sapin Air Force I said to myself " 1st I'll destroy those two and then the giant aircraft"
Hamad Humaid on ace mode, at least for me... It was almost a vital objective to destroy them, since they keep hunting us down. One missile shot and its all over!! Down from the start!!! D:

And then you use the ADF-01 Falken with its nose housed laser and just zap everything. Or the ADFX-02 Morgan and Burst Missile and just blast indiscriminately.

1) Silber - cause the leader is PHANTOM pilot.
2) Gault
3) Indigo

4) Gelb
Sub Zero I feel like Gelb were always just too embarrassed about their name so never reported in using their call signs
Played this masterpiece a long time ago.. cant remember exactly which enemy SQ is the hardest to shoot down. Either Schwarze or Gault. But oh boy, Gault got the best intro!
ACZ is still my favorite Ace Combat game to date, including the legendary squadron intros. Felt like you're a true war hero after completing the game.
The squadron intros felt like the equivalent of dynamic intros in Yakuza/Like a Dragon series as well hahaha!

Took me until now to realize the irony of Operation Thunderbolt. If you go Mercenary route, you get a head-on fight from Sorcerer Team; but if you go Knight route, you get Wizard Team, who bring in stealth fighters to try and tip the fight in their favor.

I like better "Shoot the spear" than "Release your missiles" in Japanese version of Shenee squadron.
I didn't realize until much later that Wizard and Sorcerer are from the same unit, 8th AD 32nd TFS. Which isn't that far-fetched, as a typical squadron can have as many as 24 aircraft, separated into three to four flights.

i noticed that wizard flight has 2 seperated squads, but didn't notice that wizard 1 uses YF-23.
Think there four of each of the two craft in The Wizard Squadron if i remember correctly.

So I've not actually played Zero, but I've played some of the other games and know vaguely the story behind the Belkan War.
Can someone explain why you're fighting Osean squadrons during this though?
Spoilers for the game lore in general: soldiers from different countries fighting in the war decided to go rouge and do a coup because belka decides to go fucky wucky and nuke themselves 7 times

2:17 So I'll admit, I haven't much had the chance to play AC0 yet, only having played 5, 6, 7, and AH. But....is that referencing Pops from AC5? They mentioned that he was known as Huckebein the Raven. Never really heard this talked about all that much
Pops is indeed Huckebein in the mission Mayhem. The Mercenary line in AC0 is cannon so Rot, Schwarze, Sorcerer would be cannon squads. Schwarze is well known for hunting down defectors before they escape hence why he is mentioned in the intro.

The Osean fighters are allies but the Wizard and Sorcerer sqaudrons defected to an organization called 'A World With out Boundaries', which is comprised of both Belkan and allied forces.
