One of the tips I learned from reading Raising Your Spirited Child, is that some children just need some downtime after they get home from school to kind of process the day before feeling ready to open up and share about it! So when my daughter would come home from school, instead of asking her about her school day right away, we talked about other things and carried on with our afternoon-I saved asking her about her school day until bedtime and found she opened up so much more easily when I gave her time destress from the day. I hope that makes sense! Loved this video
I remember working in daycare and the parents used to ask their kiddos at the end of day things like who did you play with today? did you read any books? how did you like your lunch? what toy was your favorite? Just some ideas.

Loved the video! Something my family have always done whilst sitting at the table eating dinner is play a game called 'Best, Worst, Funniest'. We each go around and say the best, worst and funniest thing that happened that day. I guess this is something you could do once your kids are a bit older, but it's a great conversation for the dinner table and gets your kids reflecting on their day!
That broke my heart!! Your little ones are adorable and super smart. Teacher can always spot the littles that are doing so well. Kudos for serving your kids a variety of foods. I stamped out loud with that knife you have though. You need some real knives! Your gonna chop off your finger trying to chop with that steak knife. Now for getting the information out of your school aged kiddo, usually teachers send home or email what the kids will be learning over the week. I would ask specific questions like "what did you learn about flowers, moon, the letter K, etc." The more specific the question, the better. Don't forget to ask about social accomplishments. I give my daughter a social goal of being a helper to a peer, giving a compliment, cleaning up even when it's not your mess. I think we look at academic well being often, and we can miss them struggling emotionallly/socially. And it can make all the difference!!!
I think you can learn so much about your children’s day around the dinner table. We always ate at the table with no tv or telephone and just talked as a family. My Son is grown but he now does the same thing with his children. They ask them every night at the table what was the best and worst thing that happened that day. (Rose and Thorn) But be prepared somethings will crack you up laughing! 🤣 I just truly love how you are teaching your children to be responsible and doing things for themselves. Some of my students parents ask me for help on that very thing. And I always offer to jot down a few of the main things we do just so the parents can start conversations that way. Also maybe unpacking his folder with him will jog his memory. Loved this video! You are such a real mom!
I have twin 3 year old boys and one way I get them talking is by asking them what they ate for snack and lunch at preschool 😆 I also ask “did you make anything?” Because they often make a craft. I loved when you sang w Landon! That was so adorable ❤️
We have our 3 year old in preschool too! My husband started this thing where after he reads her a bedtime story, he says to her "Let's talk about your day", and she tells him what she did! It's not always clear, sometimes the stories don't make sense haha But she goes on and on about her new friends and her teacher. Now she tells us to talk about our day too, it's the cutest :)
I teach junior kindergarten and I sent home a schedule of our day so the parents can know what we are doing and maybe ask more specific questions about the day. Asking what was your Bible story about rather than did you have fun or what did you do helps them tthink more specifically abut their day.

It becomes a special time to them that they like to keep to themselves. My advice for asking Landon questions about his day is to include specifics. An example of this is .. I saw you made a picture today, what colors did you use? Did you build with blocks today? Who helped you build? Who sat next to you during snack? Your teacher told me you said x, y & z... very specific questions! I hope this helps! I love your channel for my future mommy days!!

They're getting so big! I feel like I tear up each time you & Landon sing together during his bedtime routine. He's such a sweet boy. My boyfriend rarely watches family vlogs with me, but each time he see's P on the screen he gets all bug-eyed and I'm like, "sooooo, time for baby?" 😂
My son tells me more about his previous day at breakfast the next day for some reason. That's when I get all the good stuff :). I do try and ask specific questions about his routine- what book did you read/what songs did you sing ect. Did you color a picture? Daniel even has this little song he sings about how parents come back! It’s so cute!! My niece sings it when she gets dropped off at school and it helps her understand!

She is fully weaned (and never used the bottle), so her diet is fully relying on her solid meals. She prefers certain meals only and rarely veggies-except beans and corn. It seems like Presley eats anything! Tips please!
If he’s still having a hard time with you leaving, Daniel tiger has a great episode/song for it. The song is called ‘grownups come back’ it’s worked amazingly for us. And anytime either of my girls have a hard time with us leaving, my mom will sing it to them

I do have a question as to how you managed to get him to memorize songs and prayers for bedtime. I used to wonder maybe she was just bored in Preschool lol and that’s why she didn’t have much to say about it.

I also have a new preschooler. This isnt an amazing tip, but I simply ask about his day and just check to see if things went smoothly in general. I have found that if i pry into something specific too soon, he will stop telling me what happened. But if i wait, he usually starts talking more about school later in the day. Then i can ask about specific details, and he tells me more. It is a weird strategy, but for us it works! Haha
