    It's also best to be underneath whatever you're soldering to catch any extra drops

    You forgot to hold the iron near the metal, it gives you more precision.

    xD Really laughed at this! I once tried to make my own microphone, with one of the elements being a piece of aluminium foil, and it turned out to be completely impossible to solder on.
    Keep it up :-)
