With Thanksgiving approaching, Elly May is determined to save the family’s turkey from ending up on the dinner table. Jed catches her sneaking the turkey away in a sack and firmly tells her to put it back in its pen. Meanwhile, Jethro, still learning the ins and outs of their fancy mansion, informs Jed that their formal dining room is actually called a billiard room. The family misinterprets this, assuming that the large rhino head mounted on the wall must be a “billiard.” Later, after Elly names the turkey Herman, Jed finds himself unable to go through with butchering it. In an attempt to avoid the situation, he suggests Granny cook a “billiard” instead, but she stubbornly insists on preparing the turkey for their Thanksgiving feast.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Drysdale unknowingly hires two actors (George Sawaya & Benny Rubin), mistakenly believing they are actual Indian chiefs. She and Mr. Drysdale dress as pilgrims, planning to take a festive holiday photo with the men. Back at the mansion, Jed and Miss Jane have a confusing conversation about “shooting billiards,” further adding to the family’s misunderstandings. When Elly sees the two costumed actors with Drysdale, she rushes to Granny, warning her that Indians are attacking. Without hesitation, Granny and Elly ambush the unsuspecting men and tie them up. Jed arrives just in time to sort out the confusion, and peace is restored. In the end, the Clampetts, Drysdales, and the two bewildered actors all sit down together for a Thanksgiving meal, bringing their own unique twist to the holiday celebration.
