    I'm not fully convinced this is a problem. If there is a patch with no liquid metal on the die side, then it's most likely residing on the heatsink side. You can see what I'm talking about at 1:08. Also in this video, the culprit seemed to mostly be the excess amount of dust buildup on both the fan and heatsink fins (which 100% would degrade cooling efficacy).

    Ps3: "eraser mod" because it would overheat and die
    Ps4: the ps4 is actually ok, I clean mine every year and don't really have issues, cant speak for the slim though
    Ps5: supply issues and overheats and dies
    Maybe sony will get it right next time

    The issue is when im playing, PS5 games. It'll overheat and shut off. But when i play PS4 games, i don't have any problems with the console. Sony should've added a metal cap to place over the liquid metal, so it doesn't spill and oxide.

    Liquid Metal is such a great thermal solution. I bought the ps5 about a year ago so I don’t think mine has this issue. I leave it vertical and I haven’t noticed any heating issues. My OG ps3 on the other hand… RIP =(

    Its not a design issue, but a Manufacturing Issues. If the Liquid Metal isnt spread correctly due to a Production Error, this will happen, but its not that common at all.
    It was already debunked that the Liquid Metal will run overtime, because of the mounting Pressure that is keeping the Metal where it should be. If this would not be the Case at all, then how can so many PCs with Liquid Metal not have this Issue as well? Because it only happens when the application is not done correctly.

    • @alexandriacustoms
      @alexandriacustoms  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it's because the PS5 heatsink has really low mounting pressure compared to the typical PC heatsink - it has 4 philips screws with barely any torque necessary to remove

      @@alexandriacustoms Same as every PC Cooling Block? You arent supposed to screw the screws in with force or you could damage the Board.

    ptm 7950 all the way for direct die contact unless it's between the die of a cpu and its ihs (which generally won't soak the liquid metal due to its composition nor have the liquid metal go over the edges with how much pressure there is). I think for the ps5, choosing lm was a flaw as in time, with any heatsink it'll get soaked and there may be more manufacturing issues. PTM7950 has been shown to be close to LM in terms of performance when we're talking about direct die-heatsink solutions. It's cheap, it doesn't need to get repasted, even in 10 years (only if you remove the heatsink you need to reapply it) it'll be fine.

    • @Violet-ui
      @Violet-ui หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is basically the same as having it between the die and IHS on a desktop CPU

    • @NamelessUnicorn
      @NamelessUnicorn หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Violet-ui Except the heatsink of the PS5 is not as thick/dense as any Intel/AMD IHS. So liquid metal will eventually get soaked into the heatsink like when you apply liquid metal on ANY heatsink, being pure copper or copper nickel alloyed. I already tried multiple times applying liquid metal between die/heatsink of laptops, you get great results for a few months then it degrades worse than any thermal paste. Same between IHS/heatsink (btw, between IHS/heatsink it's useless to use LM instead of thermal paste unless you just want to establish a benchmark overclock record and move on after that). I also delidded some intel cpu back in the days when the die wasn't soldered to the ihs and only had crap thermal paste.

      @alexandriacustoms  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @gS-kt2ff Perhaps with extreme excess however I don't think it will be a problem with this amount. The whole thing is surrounded by an absorpant sponge barrier. And being generous makes sure there's 0 hotspots due to dry contact!

    • @gS-kt2ff
      @gS-kt2ff หลายเดือนก่อน

      The amount you're using exceeds what is recommended by established channels like Gamers Nexus, etc. Excess thermal paste may be ok as it's non conductive, excess liquid metal is not ok as it's conductive. And the sponge barrier is only the 2nd line of defence, don't take it for granted.
      I appreciate your efforts, but I'm just highlighting a potential issue. Please don't be offended, I wish the best of luck for your setup 🙏

    i dont think thats true, recently i re pasted my laptop, G14, it have LM on cpu from factory and paste on gpu. LM was kind of dry and there was hard metal spots on nickel plated heatsink. Little sanding and new LM fixed my overheating. What i meant by this, its not position,, but something from LM got soaked to heatsink.

      the ps5's thermal solution doesn't allow that, it's reduced because the liquid metal compensates for it
